Although cheating is normally frowned upon in traditional life, doing so in gaming is something that can either be necessary or something that just simply makes playing the game even better.
It is no secret that gamers love using cheats to try and unlock a number of different actions within the gameplay to further enhance their user experience. Many feel that cheat codes will only be beneficial as it will help them to complete the game, whilst other gamers may be attracted to a game title if it offers cheats in the same way that bonus codes attract players to game sites.
Indeed, there have been a number of famous cheat codes to have existed in a plethora of games and these are just some of the best to have existed.
The Konami (Contra) Code
The Konami (Contra) Code is perhaps one of the most famous cheat codes to have ever been created. It was one of the first cheat codes to have also been introduced into games, and involved the user pressing up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, and start on the computer keyboard. The code gets its alternate name from the Nintendo game Contra where using it provided players with 30 extra lives.
Grand Theft Auto Cell Phone Code
It is impossible to think about playing Grand Theft Auto and not using the cheat codes available in the game. Players of Grand Theft Auto 5 will have remembered that the cell phone was a key instrument in the game, as it was used to enter a number of codes in order to improve the gameplay in a variety of different ways.
The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim
Skyrim is a hugely popular game among gamers of all platforms and the vast range of cheats available within the game certainly helped to keep players playing for as long as possible. Cheats can involve helping players to level up faster and help them with extra weapons and armor upgrades. For example, the unlimited arrows cheat can provide players with a huge advantage.
Super Mario 3D World Infinite Lives
Super Mario might just be one of the most famous characters to have ever been developed, however that does not mean there are not any cheats associated with the Italian plumber. Super Mario 3D World has an infinite lives cheat in which players will be able to receive 1,110 lives (and continue to use the cheat). Players can do this by going to Koopa Troopa Cave and jumping into the pipe in the mountain. Follow the pipes underneath the mountain and steal the turtle shell and continue to jump on it repeatedly to gain the extra lives.
The Sims 4 – Money Cheats
The Sims has been a staple game for computer gamers, and the Sims 4 introduced a brilliant cheat for players. Players can open up the console with Control+Shift+C and then enter a code of their choice. The money cheats are some of the best within the game, though, with “motherlode” providing players with $50,000 Simoleans.
Definitely interesting. I kind of consider the Mario infinite lives trick to be more of an oversight than a cheat, but still useful for inexperienced players that need those extra lives. The trick’s been around since the Koopa shell kick from the original Super Mario Bros., and I think Nintendo has already accepted its existence.
But my personal favorite cheat is probably the cheats for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Like the game actually has a cheats option which allows you to input note combinations to access certain effects like air guitar, hyperspeed, unlock all songs, etc.
