The Call of Duty Master III is one of the most awaited events by Activision and Call of Duty. The Major League 3 qualifiers are now coming to an end, and teams are now busy prepping up and hoping to qualify for the championship. This year’s Call of Duty Major League 3 qualifiers have seen some serious potential, and the level of heat among the teams during the matches has reached new heights. The teams are showing some serious aggression to match the level of the event.
Hosted by OpTic, the Call of Duty Major League 3 will take place in Arlington, Texas. The eSports Stadium is fully equipped to host the qualifiers. But before this, all the 12 major participant teams are to face each other off in 5 qualifier matches each. This is to determine their seeding and position in the tournament. With the Call of Duty championship around the corner, teams have shown serious turnarounds in the qualifiers’ leaderboard. The Major is scheduled till the 28th of May, after which all the teams will go up for the championship. The location has not been revealed yet. Last year, it was held in Los Angeles, California.
Team News
Toronto Ultra have started showing their real potential and upped their game in the qualifiers. LA Thieves, too, have shown a strong comeback after their initial loss to Vegas Legion. Boston Breach, too, is going into an aggressive mode with a changed strategy. Apart from this, Boston Breach is also gaining popularity for some other reasons as well. Call of Duty Major III kicks off the weekend of March 9th-12th which just so happens to be when the state of Massachusetts launches online sports action. Massachusetts sportsbook promos have you covered for all the action as Boston Breach’s Beans will be front and center since joining the team after Methodz retirement. There are many ups and downs in the scoreboard, so here are the results of the latest qualifiers.
Week 2 Qualifiers Results
Out of 9 total matches in 3 match days, this week’s qualifiers have seen a total of 5 matches with a score of 3-0. The winning teams are Atalanta FaZe against London Royal Ravens, Toronto Ultra against OpTic Texas and New York Subliners, Boston Breach against LA Guerillas, and OpTic Texas against Minnesota Røkkr. Apart from these, LA Thieves have bounced back, winning 3-1 against Seattle Surge. Florida Mutineers, the underdogs in the competition, had a stellar strategy that won them the game 3-1 against the hot at the moment Boston Breach. Also, the way Atalanta FaZe went up against Vegas Legions and won the match 3-1 shows how determined they are to win the championship. Without even completing the qualifiers stage, there is no doubt that the match London Royal Ravens won 3-2 against LA Guerillas will be one of the closest matches this season.
Team Standings
The top 3 teams in the standings must not be a surprise. With the performance Toronto Ultra has shown, they deserve the top place for now. Following them is Atalanta FaZe, who are still not in their complete form and are aiming for the top spot on the next match day. With a changed strategy and one of their best players retiring, Boston Breach is still 3rd on the leaderboard, which seems very fair. All the top 3 teams have a record of 3-1.
Changes in Rules
With the help of statements released by the players, it is now known that every individual player and team is bound by an unwritten rule called the “Gentleman’s Pact” according to which, the players are not going to use blinding grenades in any competitive game. This rule is also being followed since the season started around a couple of months ago. But now, the Call of Duty League has decided to make the “Gentleman’s Pact” an official rule which will stop the player’s ability to use the stun grenade in any qualifying match. Weapons such as the M4, Kastov 74u, Fennec 45, STB 556, P890, .50GS, Basilisk, and X13 Automatic pistols have been added to the list of restricted weapons. While these types of equipment have been restricted, smoke grenades and bore charges are still usable.
Expectations from these Changes
Call of Duty added these changes to the rulebook with the expectations of making the Call of Duty and Ranked matches fair for the players. Call of Duty sees this, the player pacts, and the internal rules as the best way to improve the experience of the players. Many people are doubtful about the changes in the availability and usage of elements and weapons but you need to understand that playing a casual game in multiplayer mode is completely different from playing in a competitive qualifying match.
Conclusion
This year’s Call of Duty League has been one of the most dramatic ones. The leaderboard has seen some serious position shifts, and the teams are showing their potential and skills. While the online qualifier between Los Angeles Thieves and Las Vegas Legion started on 17th February, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone have already arrived.
