    I think a bike is good to have, if you live in a big city, but the biggest drawback with a bike is that sometimes you don't even have a place to park it. Same issue with a scooter. They can easily get stolen (and often do), and there are definitely a bunch of crazy people in dense cities.

    A skateboard is definitely the most viable option (especially if you don't know how to ride a bike/scooter), because you could just place it in a backpack. And most of the time, you're probably not going to deal with rough or uphill terrain, if there's road and pavement, so a skateboard is still good there.
