You could perhaps make a giant creeper, but instead of making simply just that you could make it into a house. It could be interesting to see how it would work out.

  2. That is an interesting build idea. It would be funny to turn the Creeper house into a trap house. As the player walks upstairs, it'll activate a bunch of TNT.

A house built with oak planks, oak wood and cobblestone looks great

Indeed. I do go for something similar to this when i want to build a fancy house, but i attend to make it mostly out of cobblestone because of sudden lighting strikes that might just burn my house down.

  5. You could always build a full wooden house in a biome that won't have lightning strikes like in the tundra biome, or build a mixture of both wood and cobblestone with the cobblestone placed on the top and bottom of the house.

I am pretty stubborn when it comes to choosing a biome to build a house on, i really don't want to move out from place where i have spend a lot of time in. I do make the floor out of wood in most cases and rest with cobblestone, but the idea what you suggested is pretty good.
