A 7 minute pokemon direct has been announced for tomorrow at 9am Eastern. Presumably, this will be an update on the new mainline Pokemon game coming later this year. Though watch it be Detective Pikachu instead lol. Either way, Pokemon news is usually interesting. If it is about the new game, hopefully, we'll get a look at the game itself to get an idea of what we'll be getting. I'm very curious if they'll build off of Let's Go or if it'll be a completely different look.

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield have been announced! We got our first look at the game and it's kinda impressive. One thing that immediately jumped out though was the framerate. I know it's not final code and normally I wouldn't judge this early but going back a few games now Pokemon has been plagued by performance issues, so seeing them here again is just not great. I have 0 confidence they will be ironed out completely.

Beyond that though, this is definitely a whole other leap from Let's Go. The art is different and more advanced. I'm not sure the game itself has changed a lot though, I'm seeing stuff very similar to Pokemon Sun/Moon, just with a more advanced graphical look. An honestly that might be fine. Though I am kinda disappointed it seems Let's Go's free-roaming wild pokemon seems to be gone.

Overall I'm happy with what I've seen. It wasn't a long look and we didn't see any of the UI or legit gameplay but I think they've done enough for now. Excited to see more down the road. They list the game as "Late 2019" so I'd definitely expect this second half of November to early December.

Nintendo Switch turned 2 today. I'd say overall the Switch OS has been disappointing, it's still very lacking in features but the Switch as a whole has had a really great two years. Lots of amazing games from Nintendo like Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Smash, Xenoblade 2. Great third-party games like DOOM, Skyrim, Civ 6, Mario + Rabbids and many more. The paid online has been silly. It's pretty much worthless and annoying to have because it didn't really improve anything from when it was free.

I am very happy with Switch's first two years and very excited about the new games this year. Also super excited about some of the rumors we've been hearing like the Xbox stuff, Persona 5, maybe a new smaller Switch. I am a little bit concerned about next-gen, it'll be harder than ever to squeeze new games down to Switch but I still think the platform has a great future.

One thing I'd like to see in 2019 is GTA5 make its way to Switch. I think it'd do so well, I remember back in the day the GTA games on PSP. They were always a marvel, something about big open world on a handheld is just really impressive and I think a good number of people would buy it just for that... even being an older game, see Skyrim for evidence. I think it'd be really cool.

Super hyped Indycar is starting this weekend. Followed by the 12 hours of Sebring and the start of Formula 1 the weekend after. Great time to be a racing fan.

It was reported today that Microsoft's planned disc-less Xbox One is real, it's the rumored code name "Maverick" device. It'll be based off the Xbox One S and surprise surprise will be completely digital with no disc drive. The reports suggest it'll be the new budget device, some are suggesting $149 to $199. I think this is a good idea for Microsoft, especially with the cloud service coming soon. Gamers should wait for next years consoles though.

Just Cause 4 was added to Xbox Game Pass today, it was a bit of a surprise considering the game just came out last December. Haven't had a lot of time to play it but it's nice Game Pass it getting more third party support and of recent titles. Shadow of the Tomb Raider got added pretty quick too. Sadly, it's not super hard to see why these two were added. Neither met Squares expectations... which is concerning for these two IPs futures. Deus Ex was already shelved by Square in recent years for just one poor sequel. :/

Really looking forward to F1 this weekend. Pistons are rolling. Indycar was fun. Been a great stretch of sports. I will say though, keeping up with the smaller racing series, trying to figure out which network has what, who's just on youtube and what not... who uses region blocking etc. It's a major pain. Even dumber is some of these series make a deal with the network, so now you can't watch in the US outside that network... except the network won't air the race until 2-3 weeks after the race actually happened... what kind of nonsense is that? I don't know. Just silly.

Halo Master Chief Collection is coming to PC later this year via the Windows Store and Steam! I'm really surprised about the Steam bit but this is really cool news for PC gamers. I've had Halo MCC on Xbox for ages now and they've done a great job remastering the older games and the games themselves hold up pretty well. They are also adding Reach to MCC, which is super exciting, it's the one game that's been missing for a while now.

On PC MCC will roll out in stages starting later this year. Reach will be first and the rest will follow in chronological order. On Xbox Reach multiplayer will be free for MCC owners but the campaign will be a paid add-on. MCC is also apart of Xbox Game Pass so Game Pass subscribers will be able to play Reach as part of their subscription. No news on if it'll be Play Anywhere.

They also announced Minecraft is coming to Game Pass. Though I suspect most people already own the game.
