AQ3D Must have Name Filter/Name Limit

Wow, that is so offensive.

 

AE's character name filter has been pretty broken for some while. You shouldn't be able to create names with 4 or more spaces (I think) and you definitely shouldn't be able to create one-character usernames. There has even been some cases where players can create names with foreign accents, which inside the game appears as a question mark. I honestly don't know how AE will fix this mess, especially the one with the foreign accents as there are many foreign players using foreign accents in their name.

 

This went out of hand. You see. Name filtering have gone too much that its filter is stronger than the in game chat.

I tried "Persephone" and to my surprise, it is considered "containing foul language" what? Sheesh.

 

That's what's known as the Scunthorpe problem. The chat filter used to have a ton of issues with filtering back in the old days, but now it seems like Character Creation has more filter issues.

 

They really should because some names I be seeing are very unappropiate.

 

Yeah they should make the ingame name limit around 25 characters long or so. I believe the people that got a 1 letter username or symbols in their username used some type of plugin to alter the character creation. I remember doing this on AQW back in 2011 with Mozilla Firefox, but I'm not exactly sure how these people did it since you can't reach the character creation through a browser. I'm not sure if it's been fixed yet but it's definitely fixable.

They could just send a query and wipe the accounts that only have 1 or 2 letters. But for foreign accents, they'd probably have to search and remove each manually. Or force a name change on all of them.

 

they should also include meaning exclusion like sh*t or suk eventually doesnt meant as swear words for japanese nickname like yoshita or shitaka or itsuka

 

Perhaps AQD3 can add a random name generator for those that do not care about usernames.

 

"Amethyst" contains a bad word now when it didn't in Alpha, the Amethyst family must go on though

 

that doesnt solve any problem, since AE wont spent much money to upgrade server. in this case, random name would said "taken" too~

Someone has a username named Jesus, think it shouldn't be allowed for religion. Cause it's part of the 10 commandments from the Catholic bible.

 

Well they can't just remove those people's characters, especially the ones with foreign accents in their character name since there are some foreign players who play AQ3D. The best option would probably be to temporarily rename them and give them an option for a free name change like what they did with the AQ3D player named "God" who became "NotaGod", but changed his name to "Dante".

Well I thought so as well, especially since a player named "God" was forced to be renamed. It seems like he'll get to keep his name though. Jesus isn't just a religious name, but also a real person's name.

 

They do have a filter but a lot of the players just change it up a bit.

We definitely need it. So many random users with rude names.

 

Who cares, id would prefer if the rating was changed to 18+

 

Your name could be as long as you want as long as it ain't inappropriate

 

Afk on our name is a way to let others know the players not playing

 

Yeah, we have that now and it's pretty useful to see players who prefer AFK3D over AQ3D.
