I play mmo because I love the PVP. The community also contributes to the fun.

I'd say because they're more community driven and the devs are always looking for feedback, with other games the community usually has less say.

Id say because of PvP. Feels boring to play with bots after a long time.

Sometimes you honestly just want to play with other players, especially boss farming for rare drops, my favourite! Because everyone has to endure the agony with you, and while everyone is waiting, some interesting conversations sometimes take place :D

For me, MMO has the best - loyal community and people are attached to accounts because they spend much time on the progress of their chars. Accounts can be worth lots of dollars and there is nothing better than an involved community.

Yeah, agree with the involved community point. That's definitely why I am still playing Lineage 2. This was always the strongest point of the game, on Skelth particularly.

2, 3 and 4 ;) Love massive multiplayer PVPs 400 vs 400 like sieges in Lineage Classic on Skelth! And obviously every mmo gameplay implies that you want to be seen as the best skilled player like irl.

The community is definitely the redeeming quality I am looking for in a MMORPG.

I prefer MMOs due to its community. It gets quite boring merely playing alone or vs A.I. after a while.

Community is a big part for most MMO without it, meh, you get boring game.

Toxic community can be fun sometimes especially when you play MMO with PvP as its focus.

I would say community and PvP. Like to be a 'little' part of those 'massive' multiplayer games.

  18. I think PvP can make an MMORPG uplifting, but it isn't what defines the MMORPG. I find that tons of other games (that aren't MMOs) can do just as good, if not better, at PvP, especially in newer, popular genres like battle royale.

But I think community is a larger factor to an MMORPG. You remember the players you meet, and actually get to interact with them. In other games, they tend to be more focused towards just gameplay, so you never really get to talk with players, and to me, that's the real distinction of MMOs compared to other games.

I like games where you can meet new people. The social aspect of a game is super important to me. Also pvp is a must, and I prefer skill based pvp over twitch reflex pvp (mainly because I game on mobile right now).
