    I was really surprised to hear in this case that the development kit of Oculus Rift is only $300, which considering what it is doesn't seem that bad at all. They are currently working on a consumer model which I assume should be near or under that price.

    Although I agree, overall I'm sure this stuff will all be very expensive at the start.

    The first is probably the best place to start. It's cheap, it doesn't have all the new mechanics so it's easier to focus on and learn the core mechanics and it's a lot more liner so it helps really show what the game is about. Plus the games basically only get better from this game so if you enjoy it you should have no problem enjoying the newer ones too.
