Hello fellow GameOgre community members! I have proposed the possibility of transferring the current VBulletin Wiki to the MediaWiki to OgreMan, and he told me to create a poll, and ask you guys what you think about this. To start, i wish ti introduce MediaWiki to you!

MediaWiki is an Open Source wiki that closely resembles Wikipedia. It is created by a file source download, and then uploading that source to a host, which would be the GameOgre.Com site. From here, you have the basics of a Wiki. You can edit the source files (Which i would be glad to do if we transfer) to create a home page. From there, the community is free to start creating pages. I would put in the time to start transferring the current wiki pages to MediaWiki if we choose to transfer.

There are multiple benefits of upgrading the MediaWiki from the built in Wiki currently used. While the current Wiki is simplier, i have alot of knowledge on MediaWiki and create guides and such to help you all. MediaWiki uses a type of basic coding, giving high possibilities for any Wiki page. For example, the Minecraft Wiki is running on MediaWiki, which you can see here. This is one of the more intermediate pages. This shows some of the possibilities to create a better looking wiki and such for GameOgre! We can even apply the GameOgre skin to it for the look !

I always liked the MediaWiki sites, they are very easy to use and easy to browse, I use that Minecraft one a lot lol
The Terraria one even more!

 

I've been looking in a couple of MediaWikis sites as well, and from what I've seen it looks great. So as long as someone is willing to work hard with the wiki, then I don't see why not ^^

Rare Panzer III Ausf.J in Kubinka

Yuri Pasholok posted a nice summary of the Panzer III Ausf.J, standing in Kubinka. Let’s have a look at it.

It’s one of the most mass-produced models of Panzer III, the Ausf.J with 50mm L/60 gun. In Spring 1942, this version was renamed to Ausf.L. These vehicles formed the backbone of the German armored units in 1942 and it was this tank, that fought against Soviet KV’s and T-34′s. This took a heavy toll on them and to this day, only one Ausf.J with L/60 50mm survived, this one – and only because it was captured by the Soviets at some point in 1942.


According to its serial number, it was built in December 1941 by the MAN factory in Nurnberg as one of the first Panzer III’s, equipped with the L/60 KwK 39 – at that point, both models were manufactured in parallel and so this vehicle is a bit older than the last of the L/42 Panzer III’s. According to its documents, this vehicle went to the 15th Panzer Regiment of the 11th Panzer Division. It is not known where or how it was captured, but it definitely happened in 1942.

According to Yuri Pasholok, museum guides sometimes say that this impact was the reason the tank was abandoned, but it is not so, as when you look at it from the inside, you will see that this shell did not penetrate the armor (the armor held, but not by much). And this is how the vehicle looked in service:

Obviously, it's still somewhat semi-official, but we have finished preparations for closed beta on the tech side.

This means [provided that nothing extraordinary happens of course] in the very near future you will be able to get hold of tanks on your mobile. For now on:

iPhones: 4S, 5, 5C, 5S (phones are not supported officially as of now, but technically you will be able to install and play the game)

PS: Andorid version for selected devices is already full-functioning, however the beta for Android devices will start at a later date.

I discovered something new today about audio support in browsers.

Read it, learn, and weap about the pitiful support for sound.

1. Firefox version 21 or lower does not support MP3 files in the html5 audio tag.
2. Firefox version 22 or higher does support MP3 files in the html5 audio tag.
3. Internet Explorer 8 or lower does not support MP3 files in the html5 audio tag.
4. Internet Explorer does not support WAV files in the html 5 audio tag.
5. Support for MP3 files in the html 5 audio tag in Internet Explorer 9 or higher is broken. It only works with autoplay.
6. Support for WAV files in Chrome and Firefox is broken. Any WAV file shorter than 20 seconds will not play in Chrome and Firefox.

 

Could use that someday for Minecraft in the future if I do go on Livestream.
