    In solo q sometimes it is smartest to ban your counters if you are 100% sure you can carry your team.
    For example:
    You want to pick orianna but she has a few hard counters. You ban syndra,leblanc and lets say zed.
    In ranked team you ban champions that do good in teamfights or are just too strong.
    In that situation I would ban vi,wukong and leona.

    That is just my opinion and I really hope it helps :)
