Having friends is what i like most in the runescape. Through this game, you get to know more friends (though in the game only) to chat with. I know everyone knows that things get so boring when there's no one to talk to. They're always there when you need help, when you have problems they try to comfort you, when you're in danger they worried about you, every time you log in they say "hi" to you. You see? this things are simple but you'll feel important to them. In the Clan Chat I joined, we're like a happy family. The leaders also acts as our dad and mom and also the members just like a brother or sister to you. This changes in runescape makes itself more lively. You're might be a loner but in this game you'll feel how important you are to yourhow to be a part of a happy family :)...

--well that's what im experiencing now =)
and that's what i like most in runescape...

    RUNESCAPE FTW!

I like the sense of humour within Runescape, and the variety of quests.
The way that the game enables you to train skills other than combat is unique - the non-combat skills are actually meaningful, unlike in other mmo's.
The minigames provide a fun variety of things to do within Runescape, and the game world is always being updated (well, for members at least :p)
(Just kidding there, in this day and age Runescape is one of the few free to play MMO's, and it's much appreciated :))

...But in saying that, none of those aspects are truly my favourite part of the game. They make Runescape fun and unique, but there's something else that I think makes it even better:

What keeps me playing is the sense of community, and the wonderful people who play it.
The game world itself is good, but what makes Runescape truly great is what the players do within it.
Player organised events make Runescape the vibrant place it is. All you've got to do is visit the Community section of the forum, it's huge!
Even if you can't post there, it's still well worth reading, although I inevitably find myself looking for the nonexistent "post reply" button
There are events for both members and f2p, and no matter your timezone, there's bound to be something.
There are also a lot of player-organised events going on outside of the forums, if you know where to look ;)

In short, Player organised events make Runescape what it is. Jagex have created a great game, and in turn, the players have created a wonderful community within the game :)

    What I love about Runescape

I just love Runescape, Its one of the most unique and the first mmorpgs to come out. The thing about Runescape is that it breaks the chain from other games, its different in almost every possible way, Different interface, accessibility, gameplay, progression, And don't ever forget the quests. I just love quests in Runescape, the challenges of them, experiencing them, and achieving them. I also love minigames ALOT, when you are bored of other features in runescape, you can just have a fun game of stealing creation, castle wars, or even barrows! PvP is another great aspect of Runescape, facing against other people for the great reward, and the excitement of it. And skilling, you can do it with friends, alone, and have a giant party after reaching your hard earned achievement! Another great thing about Runescape, is the people you meet while you play! You also have to be amazed by all the variety of stuff to do, of places to go, of skills to train, of monsters you fight, and of quests to do!And the fact that you can do all this on not so advanced computers just makes it awesome!

There are many reasons why I love and play Runescape. Here are some of the reasons.

    1) It is fun, interactive, and has many, many great and unique staff members and players.

    2) It has soo many things to do! It's impossible to have nothing to do! There are over 20 skills, each with its own unique characteristics. It has over 100 quests, and not even the number 1 player has truelly completed the game, and Runescape has been out for almost 10 years!

    3) The forums. There are so many different forums. They're so interesting to read and post!

    4) Minigames. Runescape has so many minigames, all of them guarenteed to make you have fun. They vary from killing others, to working together to get clay and weapons.

    5) You don't always have to pay! One of the greatest things about Runescape is that it has a free version that is unlimited unlike most MMORPGs. And you can even post on the forums once you've reached a certain amount of exp if you're on the free version.

    6) Quests. There are so many quests you can do, all very interesting with good storylines.

So, those are the reasons why I enjoy playing Runescape!

There are many things to like about runescape, from the massive amounts of skills and various activities available to the amazing player base. I've been playing now for 6 years off and on, and the thing that mostly keeps drawing me back is all the non combat "skiller" skills. Ranging from woodcutting (my personal favorite) to rune-crafting to hunting, there is always something you can do to keep the feel of the grind down.

Another thing I love about the game is the constant updates, the Jagex team is always working hard to come out with more content to excite and surprise the people of Runescape. From holiday events to quests and achievement diaries, there is a large range of content the team is always updating on. This brings me to the team itself, I have never seen in my gaming experience such a dedicated (and rather amusing) team of game developers. The way they have used Java is simply amazing, and the developer blogs and etc. coming out recently really surprise you with all the work they put into the game.

Another of my favorite aspects are the quests, they are not run of the mill, go kill 1337 number of so and so monster and pick up over 9000 tickets of idiocy that will make you scream and rip your hair out. Instead, they are involving, intricate arrays that challenge your mind and Runescape skills. And most importantly, the rewards are not seemingly useless items or bit of experience, but intricate items, areas, and other rewards unique to those users who have completed the quest. This in combination with all the customization and options available make Runescape the game we all know and love.

    What I love about runcescape.

I love how runescape is something you can never grow tired of. Their is always something to do from quests to skilling to pvp and to the large variety of other things I probably couldn't name. Their is always something for everyone.

I love the feeling of being a millionair could be just a kill a way. How you could spend months off the thrill of waiting for your illusive award to finally appear. And the promise of furtune that awaits in all aspects of the game. How in pvp you could be seconds from a jackpot that could have taken you weeks to earn.

I love the constant promise of adventure. The feeling of completing that quest you have spent the last week to try and figure out. Or exploring areas you have never set foot on before. I love being able to just go to the bank and pack your bag full of supplies to be prepaired to step into the unknown.

I love the constant competition between the rest of the runescape community. The rush you get when you are victorious. And the solid determination to beat that guy next time when you fail. I love being able to rub my well earned skills into noobs faces personally :) I think we all do but there is always someone better that we still have to overcome.

I love the constant risk and chance that the game seems to utilize so well. With a well placed couple of lucky hits you could kill someone 10 levels higher than you. I like that you don't constantly hit the same damage and the exciting feeling you get as you wait to deal that final critical blow your opponent never saw coming.

To end this I just love that runscape offers thrills to everyone in everyday and you choose what you do and you don't have to do it the same way everyone else does.

I feel like ive been waiting for this contest my whole life XD well heres goes:

RuneScape. Ah how i love thee. To me runescape is not simply a mindless game driven by repetitive actions but a work of growing and changing art fueled and populated by millions of independent intellectuals without whom the game would not function. RuneScape is in fact more of a community than a game and i think lately jagex has seen this and strove to make the community more close knit then in other large MMOs where fierce competition based on race can occur or even people simply playing by themselves. i recall now how several years ago i first joined and immediately upon arriving in lumbridge was greeted by a lvl 53 player and shown around RuneScape. he even supplied me with my first 10k! This has always been my experience in runescape and i hope it continues to be that way. To this day i have that friend on my friends list and occasionally we stop by "lumby" and take on apprentices. we explain the skills give them some starter cash and a tour and then keep tabs on them. The core experience of an MMORPG is in fact the MM part. without all of the other players runescape would not function and would contain nowhere near the entertainment value. If i simply wanted to grind or do repetitive tasks i would play something like fable where i don't have to interact with other people. But with runescape its the interaction that makes the game fun. IN several of the clans i have joined over the years ive made lifelong friends with whom i still stay in contact with and we are always up for the old pkri ;) So i guess what im trying to say is that what i like best about runescape is not the games the skills or the self satisfaction i have at finally seeing green numbers (not that that's not amazing lol) but rather the friends ive made and the communities i have been a part of. Ill be honest here, the majority of my friends list ive never met in real life but in some cases i have a closer friendship with them than with many kids at my school because RuneScape itself draws a certain kind of person and that type of person is for the most part a good one. I have never seen a person denied help or friendship[ simply because of their levels or something and this is what makes runescape great. I doubt ill win cause i kinda rambled but im glad i could share it with you all and thanks for reading :)

feel free to add me and talk im on alot and private is always on friends.

I love RuneScape because you can meet life long friends in a friendly gaming environment. It is a great game with plenty to do for everyone from combat to skilling, or maybe even quest there's something to do for everyone. Most of all though, I love how you can never beat it, no matter how much you've done there's always going to be something new that you will be able to do.

My favourite part about RuneScape is the fact that it is constantly updated, even if the updates are small. My reasoning is because it keeps me interested in the game, trying all the new updates and skills when they are released is a very fun thing to do.

    Why i love runescape

first i want to say why runescape is succesful the creators of runescape has setup the game so that it may appeal to a variety of pepole it also has its free version which has a boat load of stuff and also they have constant updates.Rune scape is an online role-playing game. The player controls one character and plays the role of that character in the game. Rune scape has better graphics than most other role-playing games that I have seen. It is a multiplayer game which means that you can meet other players, chat with them, or trade with he other players.the minigames are fun and are very numerous i love just sitting for a few ours and playing castlewars. The best thing about Runescape is that you can play it for free; if you choose, you can pay a few dollars per month to get some extra features. I personally like Runescape, Rune scape is the best. it has a unique style and is both solo and group freindly i love the trading and grand exchange system it helps alot i love the world runescape is set in it has constant updates and has a lot of events like haloween Christmas Easter. i like how there are a billion different things you can do to costimize your character. i love the gameplay and story line like that story line on the history of the goblins the game is a browser game and a mmorpg (two things that uassaly dont mix) i like the diffrent skills and the diffrent variety on choices. In Runescape, there are many skills to do other than fighting. This gives a lot more choices of things to do when, in other games, all the player could do was fight. People have different goals for what they want to become in the game. Some people want to become a great chef while other people want to become things like craftsmen, warriors, miners, smiths, and mages. Some of the skills which players can level up in are attack, defense, strength, magic, ranging, woodcutting, fire making, cooking, crafting, mining, smithing, and several other skills. i love how you can go and enjoy a variety of diffent things like fishing adventuring fighting cooking quest mini games just chatting hunting building the possibilities are end less. Runescape is very addicting. I have used countless days just playing Runescape. When I started playing Runescape it was a whole new world to explore; everything was interesting. After a short time, Runescape became like a second life to me – A chance to get away from reality. Again, I could play it for days and it was a lot of fun to explore the world of Runescape. I have also made some friends in Runescape, but I don’t talk to them anymore. They stopped playing a little earlier than I did. A thing I still like to do in Runescape is to help new players to find their way around and ease a bit more into the game, but the truth is, Runescape is so easy to get into because of its tutorial and countless characters, which are part of the game, who will answer some basic questions. Runescape is fun and easy to get into because of the tutorial.Thae community is what makes the game a succes it helps get info on how the game is doing and what they can improve on...
i love the diffrent functions and stuff you can acess and i love the blog. the game offers so much and cost so little. i used to be a member until about 2 months ago i had got a chance to play for a 1 week it was awsome i would love to win this contest username: darklord8221

I started playing runescape around 1 and a half years ago and there were times when I didn't get on to play. But what really makes Runescape the most popular MMORPG is the fact that it can pull you back.Even after 1.5 years, I'm drawn back to it.Sometimes I find another game which interests me but that interest dies down, but it is not so with runescape.Good work jagex.:D

One other thing I love about runescape is the browser-based, no 3123234 GB- sized download.I have not yet found another MMORPG that has this much to offer without making you spend half your week downloading it just so that you can play it...and you may not even like it.<- believe me it has happened to me.
That brings me to the F2P aspect of Runescape.Although it may get tiring at times , again it draws you back.THAT IS runescape.Thank you jagex for letting us play the Free aspect of the game as more than a trial an considering it as a game on its own.

I also am in love with the RSOF, although I can't post on it.:p I must have clicked on the Recent updates/ Future updates forum link more times than even some members.I love the community there and all the ways they intercept Jagex's messages.:D

Finally I love the Postbag from the Hedge and other such articles.:D

Once again->What really makes Runescape what is, is it's ability to pull you back, and make you crave for more.
No one can play just once*insert frito lay soundtrack here*

    Why I <3 Runescape.

    Hello,

I will list the three things about Runescape that mas made me a hard core fan =).

The first thing you have got to love about Runescape is the graphics. Ok, sure they are not better than WOW but this is Java Technology with absolutely no downloads! I mean, I am running high detail all the time and I absolutely love how the textures blend (Especially in areas like "Enchanted" areas only accessible via Fairy Rings). The detail in Runescape is stunning, for a Java game it is far beyond the competition. (Plus for only $5.95 a month compared to up to $19.95 a month it is a great deal!)

The second thing is definitely the community. With access to clan chats, player moderator help chats, gaming event chats, and developers coming in game to talk to players and play games nearly every day, it is absolutely amazing. Learning the game is fun, however, when you learn to do new things with friends it makes it just that much better. Whether you are taking on the Kalphite Queen or going for a fun trip to Trouble Brewing, there are always group activities to do. In fact I am part of one such group that helps players in the game and I am also very active in clan chats where we joke around and just laugh, sometimes we go hours doing this without actually even playing the game. With clans, high scores tables, developers, and player moderators, it makes Runescape a safe and fun environment for almost all ages.

The third thing is easily the massive list of skills and how they link together even though game play is extremely simple. I have never know a game where there are so many skills, so many thing to do, and easily accessing all of the skills and their benefits. For example, you can start by chopping a tree with the Woodcutting and getting some logs, you then take a knife and Fletch the logs into arrows and a bow. From there you take a pickax and use the mining skill to get some ores. From that point you take the ores and use the Smithing skill to smelt them into bars and then take a hammer and turn them to Arrow Tips. You then use the Fletching skill again and add the arrowheads to the arrows. From there you take the Herblore skill and creation a Weapon Poison Potion, you then add the poison to the arrows. Once this is done you use the Crafting skill to make some armor made just for rangers. After all this is done you equip all of these items and begin training your Ranged Combat skill. This example can be done with a multitude of skills. In fact some skills in Runescape link to every other skill in the game. This means once you start leveling up those skills you will easily have access to new items, weapons, potions, summoned familiars, armor, and tons of other amazing things.:p

Wow, I guess that is all I have to say, I mean, I could definitely say much more but if you think what I have told you is interesting, check Runescape out yourself and see what you think.:)

Why I like runescape the best!

Why I like runescape: i played runescape for almost 4 years now and i still havent got enough thats because runescape is the coolest MMORPG I know and I think there no better one it has great graphics and the quest and NPC's are also great :) so for that I like to thank the crew of runescape/jagex you do a great job guys :operator: i like the different skills you can train also and its wonderfull that there events such as halloween, christmas and stuff, the homepage is also very good and sometimes the forums cant be missed to, but i have a question for you guys cant you make some forum updates sometime please? its also great that there now is help in game for players that are just started so you dont have to figure everything out by yourself great job (but I must say that solving your problems on your one was fun to! :D) I also like that there are Items in the game and such a great trade/buy/sell system :D so thnx for that one to, than on to the highscores, adventure's log and polls these are great to cause I like to lett you know what I think about something and its also great that you can see some information about your account! its also great that there is a report abuse in the game this is good for making the game more fair and enjoyable. i like the minigames also cause they are great if you want to do something else sometime, further I like a lott off things more that are the little things in the game that makes the game so great, at last i want to ask you something it would be nice if you create another like lvl 100 NPC for F2P people that was all. Oh sorry for my english, its not to good :tiny:

After four years of playing, I'm still a great fan and I cant get enough!

I like how they have pets now and how you can summon spirit pets. I also like how you can find hidden places were there are high level monsters like the lesser demons in karajam volcano and they drop about 90-97 fire runes. The last thing i like is all the holiday events and all the quests and there rewards. They should get a pet reindeer for the christmas event for free and members

When I first saw the topic of this competition, I thought right away – how would it be possible to put so much into just an essay? Quite honestly, I was quite shocked and spellbound by the possibility of getting three months worth of RuneScape Membership. To start off the essay, I’d like to give a big round of applause to all the creators of RuneScape. Not just Andrew and Paul, but the whole JaGEx (Java Gaming Experts) Team for putting so much effort, and time into this Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game . The trait which this company is so abundant of is its perseverance. I really honor the fact that you (JaGEx) put up with all the rants from various players whom, in my opinion, waste their time writing inappropriate comments without much constructivism. The least we could do is give the company some proper feedback with detail and opinion, and express our feelings in the most matured way possible.

Anyhow, starting off with what I like about RuneScape: I don’t like anything. I don’t love anything either. Truthfully, I see RuneScape as another world – Gielinor as you call it – but it’s simply a place where I can escape from the anger of parents, and annoyance of friends; but unto it self, RuneScape has given me so many online pen-pals which I’ve kept up to date with within the past two years of my RuneScape gaming experience. What keeps me coming back to this game is the attention you give its players, and the amount of updates you try to implement into the game. This is what I love about the game.

But specifically, in-game, what is it that I really love about RuneScape? I love the Quests. Personally, I find them incredibly fun to figure out and love it even more when a group of us just stand around in Catherby Bank and brainstorm about a quest (love those Grand Master ones, While Guthix Sleeps was AWESOME.) I’m not a fan of quests for their rewards (though the other Spell Books do come in handy, and the weapons and areas are a great addition to the game), but rather, simply for the pleasure of seeing the “Quest Complete!” alert come up. But after you’ve completed all quests, you may ask, what makes RuneScape such an addictive game? It’s simple – with quests come quest requirements, and that’s where Combative and Skill training come in. (As a side note, I also love how everything’s integrated into one! The fact that quests and skills are all related makes the game even more exciting, and the mini-games are an absolutely fantastic activity to engage in when I’m bored of training or questing.) I train most of my skills only for questing, thus giving me quite a high skill-total level. What’s interesting is my liking for even numbers, thus making me get skill levels to either 50, 55, 60, 65, and so on and so forth. Because of boredom, the desire for a higher skill level, and what not, I’ve achieved 99 in quite a few skills – this is the other great part – the fact that there are trophies which may be seen by other people. I don’t mean to cause offense of any kind, but I just love the Animations of the skill capes, and I like being seen as “good” in the game. Because of that, I can help even more new players, as they will question me more about how things are done in the game!

The community is very important to me, and I believe that it is one of the main parts of any MMORPG game. Without the community, there is no economy, and no relationship with each other within the game. Whether it be group questing, playing in a mini-game, or just standing there, trying to look cool in Varrock Square World 1, there’s a community. Seeing people talking, and interacting in ways that we wouldn’t dare to in the real world is really interesting, and in fact, I plan to write my Extended Essay on this topic (an Extended Essay is an essay which must be written in order to complete the IB Diploma Program). If I just met another person in real life at a restaurant, or at a carnival, I wouldn’t dare to stay with them for longer than an hour or two. I wouldn’t invite them to my house (Player Owned House), I wouldn’t invite them to go play a game with me, but rather, I’d prefer my personal space. However, in RuneScape (and many other similar online games), people interact and act tighter – the way any community should. Being anonymous somehow gives us more nerve to act the way we are, and it doesn’t restrict us to giving our parents face, as it does in the real world. And the way players in RuneScape engage in activities just keeps me playing for hours with friends, both from real life, and with friends I met online. Of course, there’s the occasional player who comes along and acts a tad bit annoying or immature, but the moment passes, and I don’t take it too seriously. Games are games .

What I find another very important part of a game is the way the Staff – including Player Moderators – treat the community. The handful of JaGEx-chosen moderators are the friendliest and smartest lot I’ve ever talked to online. They are helpful, committed, and in any way do not abuse their rights over other players. For this, I am thankful. I’ve played games (Maple Story, for example) which have moderators which act ignorant, self-righteous, and egotistical, and it makes me boil to realize that the main company does not know about it. Back on topic, I like how they explain rules and instruct people with the least amount of complexity. The game is not hard to play, but sometimes, it can be a bit confusing to explain word to word. Moderators and Staff do their best to simplify things (not including the Cryptic Clue Fest :D), and when asked a question, they reply (unless they’re bombarded by a mass amount of players). These are the people who make the game simple, fun, and straightforward to play. With too much complexity, the game would be a nuisance, and I would find it annoying to play. Thank you for making RuneScape a great game :).

The last thing I’d like to say is the fact that RuneScape is in its prime. Sure, it took its toll of loss from the December 2007 Update (Wilderness Removed/Bounty Hunter and Clan Wars!), but with the amount of updates and features it’s added to the game, I would doubt it has less players than before. RuneScape hasn’t been this active in a while, and the only thing which I think needs improvement is the fact that the prices of items are so easily affected by Merchant Clans. However, there have been several posts by JaGEx Staff which promise an update to fix this – and it’s what I’m looking forward to – for now :).

I hope you have found this entry constructive, and may it be of use for future reference!

    PS.
Would it be possible to give me some feedback about this entry? I don't mind if I don't win, but I'd like to know if I was of any help to JaGEx and if it was useful contribution.
I hope to join more contests like this, and plan to add suggestions and give feedback on future updates on the Official RuneScape Forums.
    Thanks a ton!

I enjoy a lot of things in game. I am not always a person to look on the surface, but more at the insides.

    Animation and Rendering.
I love the amount of work that has been put into this, and how they have created a various animations for various things (woodcutting, emotes, teleporting, agility, etc...)
And to the of the amount of work that went into making the graphics like they are today is incredible.

    Storylines
To have some people with such vivid imaginations and great skill to create quests that catch the player and keep them thinking and in suspense is truely a gift.

    Cross Platforming
I know that this may seem like a simple task considering that it is written in Java but for the fact that different operating systems handle tasks differently. Jagex managed to find a balance between it all and create the game to run effectively on all of them.

    Support
The Jagex support team is one of a kind, who else interacts with their players on such a level? I think that summarises my thoughts there. :p

    Skills and Items
Think of all of the hard work and dedication that has gone into that. Think of all the thousands of lines of code and countless hours put in to make sure that the event runs smooth and effectively.

That was just a summary of the main pointers

There are a few things I like about Runescape. For example, the character is very customisable, even when starting, so it's rare to see two that are the same. Not many other games are like that. And there are probably thousands of items you can add to your characters, from rings, to cloaks, to frog hats.

I also like how there is a wide variety of skills to use. It gives the game variety and purpose besides levelling up your combat and killing monsters. Even though that's what most of them somewhat contribute to, besides perhaps Construction, and ... Hunter? The fact that there are always more skills that get added to the game is awesome.

The storylines are great as well. Other mmos I've played are basically, kill the bad guy, fetch quests, not very deep. On Runescape, while quests are still kill this, get this, Jagex has managed to create a world where many great, interesting original stories take place (Penguin series anyone? xD), as well as a rather interesting backstory, which keeps players looking forward to future quests and challenges in the series. (I personally look forward to new minigames xD). I don't think I've seen a game where Penguins and Monkeys are so ... evil lol. (it would be interesting seeing a cross over quest, woo boy). And there's always room for the landscape, thus the storylines, to expand too.

That's another cool thing about Runescape, it's always expanding in new and different ways, whether it's just fixing bugs or whole new gameplay aspects. It makes Runescape worth coming back to, since it's not the same game as it was last year. For example, a few years back, I would never have imagined skills like Construction, Hunter and Summoner.

Though I think some things could be updated before new places are added, eg. when I was a member, the Burthorpe Games Room was rather ... boring. I think rewards could be added to it (even if it's just for show, like a giant chess piece for a weapon lol). Otherwise, most updates to the game are generally good, and the fact that Jagex do go back and update things is great.

Oh, and the fact you don't need to download it, but play on the browser, is one of the reasons I come back to it.

Lastly, the fact that Jagex has been very involved in the community is pretty cool. I remember a while back when the most we got from Jagex was the updates on the main page, but now it seems the community has more chance to hang out with them is pretty cool.

And thus, I stopped typing about why I like Runescape. ;)

Okay, to start off this essay I would like to start off with positive points only... wait that's all there is. Okay lets get this essay going, I hope you enjoy reading this. I like the quests, storylines, gameplay, friendly community, & care given by Jagex staff & their players. The community is very important to me, and I believe that it is one of the main parts of any MMORPG game. I love participating in ANY community events or whatever is happening & making a positive mark on or in them. One of they key points in a MMORPG game is fun gameplay, positive community, & friendships with other players. Making friends on RuneScape is fun & enjoyable because you can play online with them. The cool think is, RuneScape has a minigame called Burthorpe Games Room, which players can play chess, checkers, & more! This online game is extremely fun & enjoyable to play. RuneScape has so many positive things, it's too hard to explain all of them, so RuneScape is the best online game I have EVER played. I wouldn't be caught dead NOT playing RuneScape because Jagex created & runs it. This game is just too good & too fun! I understand why its such a great game. Jagex is great. I would become a member to support Jagex, but I don't have the money. I used to be a member, & I was very pleased with Jagex's care & honesty they share every day with their players. I just love this game. Jagex is awesome. Keep up the great work Jagex. I also like how there is no download needed, & how I can just go & play RuneScape whenever I want to. I'd like to play member's but I cannot afford it. I used to be a member, & I was STRONGLY pleased with the quality of the product (RuneScape) I was buying. I loved supporting Jagex. The other reason I was a member was to enjoy the members only content that was in the game. I hope you enjoyed reading this, if I don't win I will still be happy because I think I made a positive comment towards Jagex staff. I wish you all the best of luck.

    Have a nice day everyone.
