I haven't learnt the technique to it yet but apparently it's really not that tough once you understand how it's done. Looking forward to learning to solve one in then near future.

  2. Easiest way is to dismantle the cube, and rearrange the pieces together, but of course, that's not exactly "solving" the puzzle.

There are some techniques for solving a Rubik's Cube (particularly to solve it in the shortest time and in the minimal number of steps), but I'm not invested to learn how to do that. I can solve a puzzle from trial-and-error, and by recognizing patterns as I progress; usually doesn't take more than an hour.

It's actually a way to solve it, it's called thinking outside of the box.

  4. Another thing to consider about a Rubik's cube is the dimensions and how it's designed. 2x2 is the easiest to solve, 3x3 takes a bit more work and thought, and anything 4x4 or higher is harder to solve and I wouldn't invest time in solving. When it comes to designs, I've seen Rubik's "cubes" in the shape of equilateral pyramids, as void cubes (with holes in the center), ones with pentagonal faces, and other shapes and patterns; I think when you've already solved enough 3x3 Rubik's cubes, those Rubik's "cubes" would be fun to solve, though I've never had a chance to play around with those variants. You can easily find them in stores, but I think the classic 3x3 Rubik's cube is better for the average person.
