Do you enjoy illusions?

Discussion in 'Ogres Breakfast' started by Snowy, Jul 27, 2017.

  1. As a kid, I've always enjoyed illusions. Some of my favorites are M.C. Escher's impossible shape illusions, the Shepard tone where the pitch seems to always be going higher and higher, and the duck or rabbit illusion.

Yes I actually do, illusions really make me question how it's possibles to see such things that are unimaginable. Somewhat appears like magic in front of my eyes.

The answer is yes!! I enjoy all kinds of things that resemble magic!! (Magic Tricks, Illusions) Some of them literally look impossible to do...

  8. Some of my favorite illusions are the checkerboard color illusion (where the black tile looks different than the white tile, but they're actually the same color) and the clockwise or counter-clockwise spinning silhouette illusion. I think when it comes to illusions, it's amazing how the brain interprets what you sense. Even without actively searching for illusions, it's common to find illusions just from real life. The myriad of things you observe from physics (e.g. Doppler effect, refraction, etc.) feels like another level of illusion; probably the most remarkable illusion to come from nature is the color of a blue butterfly (which isn't actually blue), and it really underscores just how rare the color blue is in nature.

  9. There's an illusion called the "Ames window illusion". What's neat about it is that is in the illusion, you'll see the window oscillating back and forth, but when you add some object to it, the object is going behind the window and going in front. And if you add an object through the window, it's even cooler.
