Is it really true that older players can't necessarily game?

    Is it true the people able 40 or perhaps Baby boomers will not be able to understand how to play with electronic consoles? I've seen many videos making fun of older people trying to play COD. What are your thoughts of it?

    I wouldn't necessarily say older players can't necessarily game. There's a 63 year-old player named Tony who plays and streams Runescape.

    But I think what sets the boundary between older generation and newer generation of players is the advancement in technology. Older generations aren't used to the rapid speed of change in technology as younger generations are, especially during the age of the Internet.

    Very true, many older people also reject the use of modern technology because of the way they were raised. However, those that try to adapt will have a hard time to actually fully be capable of using any electronices.

    Maybe they are old and bold, but they have more experiance that us and they could learn to play anything, know few friends which are older and they are still having time for gaming.

    The can't part is only true in terms of some eSports. It's just a fact that as we age our reaction time slows, games that require high reaction times get harder to compete in the older you get. I don't think it could be done at the top level. Beyond that though anyone can play games and while it's not super popular among the current old people their are still plenty of them that do game.

    As for the videos of old people trying to play COD, it's no different than anyone who's never or rarely picked up a controller trying to play. It's just their are a ton more old people who fit that mold than young ones.

    These older players that can play with consoles I respect them for taking the initiative of learning how to actually game.

    It's a good mindset for everyone, to try new things rather than just write it off. Some of them really enjoy it too, I remember a while back Wii Bowling was a huge hit at retirement homes lol. Or old farmers getting hooked on Farming Simulator.

    Baby boomers probably not (unless they learned), but if they're in their late 30's or 40's they were likely around for the first video games. My older cousin who's 40 used to play Half Life 1 a lot and I remember watching him play.

    age = level the higher the age the better XDDDDD
    as long you can hold your mouse, keyboard or whatever you're using while your playing (lol)

    and your display is still "LIT"..

    You can learn to play even when you are old, but old age can slow your reaction time quite a bit.
    I have heard about 63 year old man Sir Tony Ray that plays Runescape and he sure is enjoying himself. Here is a link to his page on Runescape Players Wiki for additional information.

    Ofc old people can play games, and play them well. Just the large majority of them are unable to because they never tried or had experience with technology or games.

    I view the elderly as veterans of life. Without any disability to impair their learning and performance, they can play games on par with their younger opponents.
