Is Palworld the next game craze?

In 2009-2010, Minecraft was the biggest game craze.
In 2011, GTA V was the next biggest game craze.
In 2018, Fortnite was the next.
In 2020 (pandemic), Among Us was the next.
Could Palworld be the next game craze?

Personally, I think so, but I'd be interested to see how they add new content (if they plan on adding seasonal passes, Pal DLCs, or new areas).

And while the game has gain a lot of controversies (especially within the Pokemon community), it has gained positive Steam reviews, millions of downloads, and one of the highest peaks for concurrent plays. It's broken records we have seen since PUBG.

And I have to give praise to the game. It's a fun game to play. While it's compared to Pokemon, it feels a lot more like ARK + The Legend of Zelda + Pokemon + Minecraft + various other games which definitely harkens to its success.

 

I'm impressed at Palworld. The game developer Pocket Pair isn't even an AAA developer and is not even well-known, and yet they managed to create a game that feels like what an AAA game should be with so much depth and detail. They could possibly be the best indie game developer at this point (beating out Mojang).

And it's such a strong start for 2024 as well. Palworld might very well end up being the game of the year.
