    This match pits two games that stubbornly tried to stick with the Pay-to-Play model even though everyone knew it wouldn't work. They also happened to be two of the biggest IPs in gaming and spawned from two of the best single player RPG game series of all time. Star Wars The Old Republic tried to take the Kotor model and apply it to an MMO... it didn't quite work but a few years of updates, switching to free-to-play and BioWares legendary story telling... the game is doing quite well. It's surviving and even thriving in some areas.

    Elder Scrolls Online from the famed Elder Scrolls series made the exact same mistakes but tried a different solution. ESO went buy to play instead of free to play. Like SWTOR this has worked out pretty well for them. The game has slowly progressed into a game people do wanna play. The one other thing they share in common is they are also very large games... clocking in at around 50GB each.

    Star Wars The Old Republic is solid in some ways but extremely flawed in others... namely it's ridiculous payment model. It's WAY too restrictive even still today. It's a horrible example of free to play and very annoying... I mean they even lock skillbars! So silly. Beyond that silliness you do get a pretty solid 1-50 story with BioWares awesome storytelling but beyond that you really should be paying to fully enjoy it.

    Elder Scrolls Online started life pretty hard, it's monthly fee and lack of TESness really hurt it but through beta's, post game support and lots of fan feedback the game has slowly come around. It still feels like ESO the MMO instead of an online Elder Scrolls game but that's not likely to ever change. The game also dropped its monthly fee, going buy to pay which fits better with it's offline siblings. It's far from perfect but is one of the most fair MMO models this side of Guild Wars 2.

    I have to go with ESO because of the ridiculous restrictions in SWTOR.

    Elder Scrolls is much more popular imo. Never played either of this games, but Elder Scrolls looks better.

    I am not familiar with these two game, so i cant give my opinion here. I gave vote to star wars only because i liked it's trailer more, thats it.

    I can't pay for games (strict dad) but if i were to buy one of these it would be Elder scrolls. Looks cooler and i really liked Skyrim

    Elder Scrolls Online by far. As mentioned before, the restrictions in the game is just ridiculous. And to be honest, what you get after actually paying isn't that different from other F2P MMOS who offer the same but cheaper.

    ESO is a solid game, which in the beginning might not have been worth its price but after the permanent change to a single fee, it's definitely worth its price. It might not be what I was looking forward to before it was released, but it can still provide with a lot of entertainment in a way that's imo more superior to SWTOR
