New Member Help and Notes

Ok, a few changes have been made since previous threads like this so thought this may help. This also applies to returning members as well.

New Member Dos:

1. Introduce yourself.
2. Come on a regular basis and post.
3. Wait until you have been here a month and have 100 posts before asking for anything.
4. Read the support forum (this thread is there)
5. Ask for help in chat or from mods if really needed.
6. Forum Events and the Community Shop Participate in the latest forum event.

New Member Don'ts:

1. Ask for codes without posting or being active.
2. Complain in threads.
3. PM the forum admin (me) for codes or questions that can be answered easily in the forum.
4. Stop posting after receiving a code. The codes are for the ongoing community so one-and-doners do not help that at all.
5. Do not not bug other members, mods, or the admin for codes. If you are active for long enough, you will receive codes! Furthermore, if you stay active you will receive many codes!

Going to keep this thread open for now, but use it only for help that you need.

 

Ok, just going to pause threads like https://www.gameogre.com/forums/threads/aq3d-treasure-chest-code-giveaway.64182/ for now and just PM the codes to those who qualify as active members for long enough.

The bottom line is for members to be active without asking for stuff and then they will actually get stuff.

 

Think what we are going to do going forward for new members is to make participating in the big forum event required to get any codes at all.

 

Yep, just had someone ask about the shop after 5 years of not posting so making this official.

Forum Events and the Community Shop

We need something better in place to try to avoid lots of PMs from new and returning members just interested in codes. Now you need to be participating in the latest Event to ask for anything in the shop.

 

Thought about doing yet another thread on this subject, but going to put it here instead. Either way, this will be all on this particular subject of new members and codes.

Please Read!
To make things perfectly clear, do not PM me or any staff member about codes unless you are participating in an Event. Failure to stop doing this, will result in you being banned. This is why the Giveaway threads were paused.

If you are told that you have to be active from the start in order to get codes, that is EXACTLY what that means. If you say that you are all about becoming a member and the codes are secondary, you actually need to act in that way when you do become a member. Otherwise, it just shows that you did not need to be a member if you can not do what you said you would do. Thus, you will not only not get a code if you are not active, but it also makes it harder on the next person who wants to join because this demanding new member issue is very time consuming for us and it needs to be worth it when a new member is added!

 

If you want to be added as a New Member, please send me a message that you are willing to be a part of the community and participate in the Forum Event. That will be the about the only way we will be adding new members. Then if we add somebody who says they will and then does the same thing (doesn't participate in the Event and just asks for codes immediately) we will just close that account.
