April 2006 a Horde guild on the World of Warcraft Illidan shard suffered the loss of a fellow player-versus-player enthusiast and advertised the formation of an in-game funeral and memorial on the same server. They announced that the in-game funeral for the player Fayejin would take place at the Frostfire Springs in Winterspring--a contested region of the PvP server--and asked that others respect their ritual. This would come to naught, of course, when an Alliance guild decided to crash the funeral and kill everyone present.
