I find RuneScape an escape from reality, but not in a bad kind of way. It keeps me out of Gangs, Drugs, and many other things that could effect my life in a negative way.

Jagex has allowed me to prove my leadership skills by running and managing one of the largest Slayer and skill communities on there forums.

Jagex has allowed me to meet people throughout the world, which many other things I do won't allow me to meet anyone that's not within ten miles of me usually.

Jagex has inspired me to begin programming. If just simple code can cause joy for millions of people world wide why should people not?

I've learned about the Economy which will help me in real life forever. Decision making too, RuneScape allows people to make choices that other games wouldn't allow. Most important is that you can't buy stuff unless you work for it. Which using that skill I'll never fall into debt.

RuneScape has inspired me to learn new things, from Programming, to fishing. Taught me leadership, honesty, fairness, responsibility, kindness, respect, perseverance, cooperation, forgiveness, and patience.

RuneScape is just something that has been in my live for years, and hopefully many years to come.

Ah Runescape, how can I put you into words?
Mmorpgs usually are very uninteresting, yet you pull it off. Traveling around and playing with you friends; It simply can't get any better.
So many things to do; Runescape is the most interactive online game I've ever played. Making fires, and cooking are just a few of them.
Kicking monster's butts and doing it well, are a great way to let off steam.
I Love some of the new mini-games you've put on, like hide 'n seek. Being able to play that game is one of the reasons that I wake up in the morning. The dueling arena is also one of my favorite way to level up, and to show my friends who's boss!
Making your own wepons is also a great way to spend the day. I find it very neat to be able to mine, smelt, and forge you own swords. Of course, you don't have to!
So many options, so little time.
I've been playing since the 7th grade, and I still can't get enough of the many things i'm able to do on there.
You're constantly putting new quest out to keep your fans coming back, we love it!
Anyone who doesn't enjoy Runescape, has no taste in games.

    runescape response

I personally have played RuneScape for 6 years. And you ask why? Well, it's quite obvious that I do not play because it's boring or it's dumb. It's because it's a game that's actually worth playing! It is a game with endless fun, quests, and skills you can master. And on top of that, you get to meet with great people and friends ALL OVER THE WORLD! And with people and fun mixed together, nothing could be better than playing the most epic MMORG in the history of gaming: RuneScape! Plus, Jagex keep updating to make the gameplay even more fun! And you can play it for free!:beatnik:

    What i like

I like that the graphics are not garbage. i like the way you can move. I like the way you restore health over time. i like that you can chose your own paths and what you do and not given an objective. I like that you can buy stuff easyier from grand exchange. I like that you are rewarded by doing quests. I like that skills are not as easy as other games but are still easy enough. I like the holiday events and only people that did it get them. I like that its not so easy to make money shows that the people with alot worked very hard. I like being a memeber of course even though im not at the moment. which is why i am doing this. My in game name is Golden Voide.

The thing I love most about RuneScape is, it is a whole different world, no matter how bad i'm feeling, whether I be happy, sad, bored, depressed I can log on whatever the time of day and just do what I feel like doing.

I love the graphics, it just looks so real on high detail. You can do things that you don't or couldnt do in real life.

My favourite thing in game are Revenants, I spend much of my time in high wildy waiting on knights and orks :)

I like the interaction i get through Runescape. I almost feel like I know Mod Mark and others based on the way that they have designed this game. I love the unique way that you can develop your character without pressure to play a certain way. I hope that Runescape continues to be around for many more years and good luck to Jagex!

The thing I like the most about RuneScape is mostly the variety. I've played several games in the past, but they all get boring after a while. If I get bored of trainin' combat in rs I go and train another skill, do a boss hunt, or just chill with friends. Also the relatively small worlds make the game fun. My homeworld is 78, and I always find people there which I've seen before, so you can make a quick talk or do something together.

The fact that runescape is a non-linear game makes it good. If I don't want to kill the king black dragon, it's not a problem. I don't have to, I can do if I want though.

I do love puzzles and I love seeing hard puzzles in quests. If a new quest I love to solve it, before the fansites post their guides. For people who don't like the puzzles, they can almost alltimes get their guides the next day. But once again, in-game help is also possible.

Well, I guess those are things that make me love runescape!

    Greetings,
    LP

In runescape, There are so many things i could say about this wounderful, Game thats always being improved. I love how you can meet people from anyway, and make them your best friend! I love how there are so many updates everyweek, The Jagex deffinatly has a amazing Content team on their Hands. I love how there are so many skills you could work on. The only way you could possibly get bored of this game is if you Died, i mean there is really no end to the possiblity of things to do. I Also love how there are so many items you could equip and use to kill tons of strong monsters. As a level 93 member i havent even scratched the surface of the stuff i could do. I hope this game goes on to be a amazing game. I also love how players are always thinking of new idea's and giving it to staff. There is no end of the idea's that go on on the forums. One day this game will grow beyond the console's. I just hope i still have interest in this game, even though i will always have a place for this game in the bottom of my heart. No matter what. Thanks Jagex for an amazing game :D. Have a Nice Day!

    RuneScape

    • What does RuneScape mean to me?

I started playing RuneScape in 2004, first I didn't know what some parts of the game meant because I didn't know alot of english and got confused :p.
Since I started playing RuneScape, I had 2 accounts one named Moneyz77 which was combat 113. I used to train alot on it and my play my favorite game on RuneScape; Castle Wars <3. But then I got tired of Castle Wars and started questing like mad crazy and had 246 quest points. After sometime later on, I stopped playing on Moneyz77 cause since when you get high level combat on your account there like nothing really to do anymore, then I challenge myself to make a 2nd account named Bruno Skill. This account is 93 and it was a member account for 1 month and now its free to play account, I challenge myself to get some 99's skills in F2P. First one I got was 99 FireMaking in Sept. 5th of '09 my 2nd goal now is to get 99 Cooking. For me the best part of RuneScape is making new friends, learning new language because this game is played all over the world :D and helping others when they are in trouble or they are new to the game.
    I also LOVE Skilling!!

RuneScape Username now: Bruno Skill =]

    why i like runescape

There are many reasons why i like runescape, some of them are just me getting excited over the littlest detail Jagex has included in the game, and some are important ones that keep the runescape populous, well..... populated. Ever since i started playing runescape in '03 i loved the fact that i could stroll around and do whatever i "feel like doing" whether it be ridding the runescape world of a few goblins, or slaying the Draynor vampire, it gives me freedom. that's the first reason i like runescape "freedom". Another reason why i like runescape is the content, content content content, every game can't have too much, or too little, and runescape has just enough so i don't get bored, and not too much so i don't give up due to the thought that i'll never get that quest cape. Jagex adds content at a perfect pace. Another reason is the diversity , yes i said diversity. Runescape is home to players from many, many countries from across the globe, and with those many people from many countries, comes many personalities. All these personalities is a good thing in a game like this, they make everything a little bit more enjoyable. The list of things i like about runescape is near endless, but I'm only going to add one more thing; the graphics. The graphics of runescape have improved so very much since classic. I wouldn't like the game less if it was the 2d graphic mess it was in classic, rather than the 3d masterpiece it is today. But it makes the game that much more enjoyable for the hour or two i play it after-school. I could keep you reading for hours upon hours with the reasons i like runescape, but i'm sure the both of us would rather be playing. see you in the game. :)

Runescape to me is a fantastic game, I have currently been playing for 5 years now, I love everything about it, There is always friends to chat with, old and new, I have made great friends in the game. There is always something to do, even though i have achieved 99 in all skills, whether it is choosing a skill to train, or going to kill high lvl monsters with friends, or just standing in Edgeville to have a conversation. I take alot of time to help friends out, which gives me great satisfaction in the game. I have seen Jagex go from strength to strength, bringing out great quests, improving the graphics, and game engines, aswell as a great forum to express our views. My favourite part of runescape is definately the quests, they are always something new and different and they have bigger quests, which really challenge my mind. My next favourite thing about Runescape i would say is the grand exchange, since this was introduced i have found it easier to acquire the items i need, with no hassle. It's nice to play a game with such an amazing bunch of people running it, I hope i will be able to enjoy this game for many years more. :)

    Over the years...

From the never-ending adventures, to the countless improvements to the game, Runescape has really come a long way in its history, and the environment and community of Runescape is simply unforgettable; they really touch a player's heart if one takes the time to contemplate how much Jagex has done for the game over the years.
I have always loved how Jagex continually updates the game to satisfy its players' needs and desires, but at the same time, avoiding real-world problems. I have played Runescape ever since it came out, and every time a friend of mine ridicules Runescape for its "bad" graphics, I readily defend it. I have played a long time, always supporting Runescape and Jagex. Runescape has really come a long way since its first release. From the many old problems such as scamming and RWT, Jagex and Runescape has done a lot to fix these problems. Time after time, players have condemned these fixes, but I like to look at them as a gradual progress. I have been alongside Runescape and Jagex for all those times, even though I'm just one player, looking at it from "afar", taking a step back to realize how much the Jagex staff has done to satisfy their players really touches me, especially how hard they work to continually respond and ask for player input.

There are a lot of things in the game Runescape itself that I like, but particularly playing the game along with its rich history, is almost like a helpful and fun community right in my own browser.

As a "veteran" player of Runescape, I love the Runescape community. The sight of a friendly player helping another, I smile in my chair as I observe from afar. But of course, there are also "those" players, who like to cause trouble, but that also makes me smile in the back of my mind, because there are always the potential for those players to learn as they grow, and perhaps mature when they "level" up (I have been there! :p). This game is virtually a social learning experience, being able to communicate with others from other countries, while learning some life skills as well, perhaps. :) Without this Runescape community, the game experience would be totally different. From starting at Level 3, there is always friends whom one will meet, or maybe that occasional "help-once-never-see-again" person, but there is definitely an intrinsic value to playing Runescape that is like no other mmorpg.
-Especially when staff participates in Youtube videos of some famous Runescape players! This alone simply makes the game feel more like...family, despite the fact that there are hundreds of thousands playing at a time.

From Runescape community events, to the forums, there are many more helpful and kind players than the stereotypical "10-year-old" player, and that alone can make the game a much better experience, just having friendly people to greet you when you sign on, or when a fellow mod appears and everyone crowds around them.

Runescape/Jagex has truly done a superb job over the years creating an adventure for the players, and a friendly and safe community to do so in.

On a side note, the music selection is simply excellent. There are over 600 tracks, but each of them brings back memories of past experiences in the game, or an adventure that is about to take place, or when you were "that one noob," the music truly provides an engaging game-play experience that is unforgettable.

I could ramble on the many specific things about Runescape that I like, but as a helper of my own community, a friendly and safe environment is what I look for in games (and in real life :)) and Runescape is no short of that.

    What i love about Runescape

What i like best about runescape? there's so many things! i can't just pick one! :D.

I love the atmosphere of the game, it's just so incredible! the graphics, the players, the monsters and the quests! it's amazing!

There is so many things you can do, from building your own house to summoning your own creatures to help you fight monsters, or even to catch fish!

There are so many monsters you can fight, from the king black dragon, to the Corporeal beast! with so many rewarding drops such as the fire cape!

There are so many things you can achieve, such as mastering a skill to 99, and being able to get the amazing skillcapes!

There are so many things you can unlock, from new areas and items to the air guitar emote!

There are so many epic quests, with amazing story lines and awsome rewards! like being able to make your very own dragon plate!

And of course you can do even more with a friend, you can fight each other, quest togeather, battle monsters, do minigames and so much more!

There are so many minigames, from hunting your target in fist of guthix, or breaking down the barracades to get to the enemeys flag in castle wars! or having an epic battle in the clan wars

And you don't even have to pay to experiance most of the epicness of this game, as it's free to pay too! there are thousands of hours of gameplay for free play, alot of minigames, alot of skills and alot of monsters to fight!

I Love Runescape. I have to say, Some of the best times in my life have been on this game, because i get Beat up so much at school. Yet, my friends are always there, online on my friends list, willing to talk to me, and just help me anyway they can.

I also love the ideas people come up with to make such an epic game possible. I also love the Freedom. Once your a member, there is very few places you cant go, all over Runescape.

Plenty of quests, Hundreds of monsters to train on, some of the coolest looking armor I've ever seen. Epic boss battles, Like GodWars, and Barrows. The BEST graphics I've ever seen on a java game.(and believe me, I've played my fair share.)

The emotes. oh, where can i begin... the emotes are.. all i can say is again, epic. Whoever comes up with the ideas for them should get an award.
I've played for about 2 years now, still no 99's, but i'm getting one this Christmas.

The Forums? Hah, they rock. My Clan has been able to advert it's events so much easier than if we did it ingame.

I also love to see, as I'm sure others have said, People helping each other. I love going to Lumbridge, and helping as many people as i can. Still, seeing others makes me smile :).

There are millions of things i want to say about Runescape, however, it'd take over a page before i got half way through. Thank you Jagex. I've stuck by you, through thick and thin. never once said "I'm thinking of quitting because they took away P'King" or anything like that, and even if I ever did? I'd slap myself :p

What else can i say about the best game i've ever played? Please, please, dont ever close. we Love you Jagex! WOO!

RuneScape to me is my life. I have been playing for a total of around seven years, and this counter will keep rising. RuneScape is my most memorable game I have ever played, and I love everything about it. Over my seven years of playing I've had my up's and my down's; however, these are how RuneScape is meant to be played!

During my time playing, I've developed a keen tack for gaming, and how the game is run in whole. I spent all my High School years (aged 11-16) researching how RuneScape is run and viewing all the updates JaGeX had implemented; doing so has taken me to this point of life, where I'm studying to work for JaGeX Entertainment in the future!

The best aspect of RuneScape is the social community within it, and the design of the way we interact with one another; this aspect is so unique throughout the gaming industry and seems to update every week making it better! I have made very decent friends through RuneScape which I will take through life (yes, there is more to RuneScape than meets the eye) - Who knew that a friendship could last 7 years over the internet? I for one didn't, but it's true.

There are other aspects of RuneScape which keep me playing, and will never stop playing due to them being there; One of these aspects is the questing system - throughout Gielinor there are certain quests which keep the player intrigued, some make them cry, some make them laugh, I know I surely laughed at a few quests.

The next aspect which keeps me playing is the High Definition setting, released in June 2007. This has to be the most outstanding piece of work I have seen so far, JaGeX worked so hard to develop HD and it paid off! The graphics on RuneScape are comparable to some well known games, such as World of Warcraft! - Why, even better in my eyes!

With releases of new updates every week (well done on the consistency guys and gals! You deserve the very best in appraisals!), bringing in new content such as quests, items and upgrading the RuneTek system, I will surely be going with you through the times!

I'd like to say Congratulations to JaGeX for winning The Golden Joystick award, you guys do deserve it!
I cannot wait to test my wits with the JaGeX team in the future!

    Why I like RuneScape

RuneScape is really interesting and addictive game. You may ask - why?

First of all RuneScape is played by millions of people in whole world, which means you can meet many people in game.

RuneScape has really good graphics for an online-browser game. HD mode makes this game realistic and addictive. By the way you can play it on fullscreen mode which is sweet!

All quests have very interesting storylines.

This game 100% safe. There is no offensive or violent content in RuneScape.

There are new updates almost every week and players can improve this game by sending ideas to creators of RuneScape.

The game has many real-life skills, like cooking or crafting. I learnt many things I didn't knew before.

You cannot complete this game - probably it's the best thing about RuneScape.

You can't get level 99 in skill in one day, which means you need to work hard for it which is really interesting.

In holidays There are holiday events (even for free-players) so you could celebrate holidays in RuneScape. They are also really fun, because they have good rewards, like emotes.

    RuneScape has very great interface.

Every action in-game is very well explained, for example, skill guides contain all information about items you can use and what level you need to use them.

There are no "cheats" or "hacks" in RuneScape which is really cool.

there are no bugs or problems in game so it is pretty awesome.

And by the way, talking to cows in Zanaris is SO awesome!!!

RuneScape is getting better every day, probably because creators of game are listening to players, so I have only one thing to say - Thank you very much JaGeX for creating RuneScape, because this game is the best!

P.S. Congratulations on winning the Golden Joystick competition JaGeX!

sorry if my english is bad \:

Meltominore - My Competition Entry (RuneScape)

Hey everyone; thanks for letting me take part in this competition. I'm supposed to type my best thoughts about RuneScape, so here they are:

    1) YOU chose your OWN adventure.
    a) Melee (Attack, Strength, Defense)
-While you take part in these skills, you feel like a noble and mighty warrior. The game RuneScape portrays this so well, and I wouldn't like to play it on any different MMO. We also get the 'Renaissance' feeling which is probably the most important and best feelings to have whilst playing.

    b) Magic and Ranged
-Again, we get the renaissance feeling. You can choose to be an archer, wizard/witch, or BOTH!

There are many other skills, all in which you can train and level up. This is probably one of my most favorite factors of RuneScape - you're your own individual and you get to start your OWN adventure... Not some preset or certain character (like on a lot of MMO's, where you choose to be an archer, melee, wizard, etc). JAGEX did an excellent job on implementing individualism on their game.

    2) The people and safety.
During my almost four years of game-play, I've met tons of friends. The community as a whole is great and the offense system JAGEX has created is good as well. Some MMO's have no form of punishment, and others have a very crucial form of it. RuneScape, on the other hand, is in the middle. If someone breaks a rule that might not be as serious, they'll get a punishment that lasts a short period of time. If someone breaks one of the more serious rules, heavier consequences will be taken.

I'd recommend this game for anybody ages 8+ (any kids under 13 must be supervised by an adult, and will have to use the 'Quick-Chat' feature - which doesn't grant full speaking abilities, just the prearranged statements).

Another reason why I feel RuneScape is so safe is because it is great against hackers (being the game is 100% non-hack proof). The only way that someone can hack into an account is by an individual person going into a harmful website that can give you a keylogger.

    3) The forums.
RuneScape has a great forum. It's accessible to all Members and some Free players (with experience 12.5m+). These are ranked as one of the biggest forums on the internet. We may not have the best features (like italics, bold, underline, color, etc), but overall we have an amazing forum - with volunteer moderators (normal players) that are known as 'Forum Moderators' and JAGEX Moderators; these two types of "mods" moderate the forums for our safety and enjoyment of the forums!

    4) Something that most MMO's lack.
Most MMO's aren't very player-friendly, as in they don't interact with their players that much. The company JAGEX does - via our message center, the forums, and sometimes in-game (you can contact them the easiest via the forums, however). I don't know about you, but I think this really great for a company to have.

    5) Available to everyone.
There are no downloads for this game, besides the latest version of Java - which is so much less then most games require (like WoW for example). All you have to do is create an account, play on the Tutorial to learn how to play, and you start your adventure - however you choose! You don't need to buy membership and you can be a free player forever, although if you do subscribe, you get numerous other benefits that the free players do not get.

    6) The weekly updates.
We get an update every single week (we might miss a week on occasion). This is something that most MMO's out there don't have - they usually add updates to the game every one-two months.

Well, here's my competition entry, I hope you all enjoy it. If you don't currently play RuneScape, I'd highly recommend you try at least.

    Thanks for reviewing my entry,

My personal enjoyment of Runescape stems from the ability to learn and adapt, as well as compete with others in numerous ways. Although many dislike researching ways to do things at maximum efficiency or money made, or combining the two, I try to find new ways of making money or receiving incredibly fast xp that others did not think of. It's rare that an update creates a way to beat previous methods, and even less likely that it would not become well-known within a few days, but when it does happen, it's very exciting.

I suppose above all else I've just always found the game enjoyable, although I long for the adventure that the game once had to me. Knowing virtually everything there is to know about the game becomes boring, which is why I don't play non-updated games such as for Playstation very frequently. Due to this, I always get a thrill when I see that new update on the main page of the website. A new chance to explore an area once inaccessible, new items and most importantly, new opportunities.

the thing i like bout runescape

I like how there really isn't a story line so you can do what you want go wood cut fight hill giants etc. Plus the constantly changing items and quest make the game fun also. i also like all the holiday mini quest. I've been playing for a few years now and I'm still not bored of runescape!
