Identity theft is quite common, but I haven't actually seen it happen that often, only once or twice as far as I remember.

The last time I have seen it happen was two years ago.

I occasionally kept contact by mail with an American player of my old game Shugo. About two years ago I all of the sudden got a weird mail from him about some pyramid scheme. Knowing that he was an American I found it odd that his English was incredibly bad. For example there were all sorts of spelling errors and grammatical mistakes in that email. That's what made me realise that it couldn't be him. Someone had stolen his hotmail account. I traced the original IP address of whoever had sent that email and discovered that it came from an internetcafe in Hong Kong. I informed my American friend on an irc chatroom and I also reported it on the FBI website.

I discovered that reporting this kind of stuff to the authorities is actually very hard. First of all the Dutch justice department has no such website where you can fill in forms about identity theft and since I hadn't actually fallen victim to a crime myself, because that pyramid scheme didn't fool me, I couldn't actually report it to the Dutch authorities. The American authorities only have the FBI website where you can report ID theft and other internet crime related stuff, but these forms are incredibly complicated and messy, and that website is tediously slow. It must have taken me more than an hour just to figure out what goes where and how to actually report it.

 

I hate it when stuff actually gets broken. On this new computer I already had to replace the battery for the computer clock, the graphics card and the printer. That's 3 pieces of hardware that needed to be replaced in less than 2 years. I've never seen this happen to prior computers.

 

C++ is more difficult to learn than say a scripting language like php, because there is a lot more that you need to learn, and that extra bit is what takes a lot of time.

"It's important to offer varied activities to keep the kids interested in learning, and the Fantage School games delivered," said Veronica Castillo, fifth grade teacher, Christ the King School. "Everyone in the classroom was excited to participate, and the School Challenge provided extra motivation for my students to focus on important subjects like reading and math. In addition to benefitting the students, the school also received a cash prize, which any teacher can attest is extremely useful."

Paradox Interactive today announced that Hearts of Iron The Card Game, a free-to-play, browser-based, online Collectible Card Game (CCG) set in World War II, has now received additional content in the form of 60 new cards and various updates.

The 60 new cards include:

- 6 new doctrines, 5 new HQ cards; both faction specific and universal

Okay so I successfully installed Python. But how do I know to say "python" in the command "sudo apt-get install python". Like I have a couple of other things I'd like to install. The tar.gz files are unzipped but the instructions don't tell you how to actually install it.

I could probably find them as a .deb files but I would like to learn how to do it this way.

Also I have a theme I'd like to apply. It says to put it in my /.theme folder. I looked under the "Home" directory but didn't see anything.

One last question I have for now. Do you use the standard Ubuntu 11.04/11.10 or whatever it is. Or do you use some altered version of it. Because personally I found it much easier to use before that dock thing on the left side was there. The only reason I know about a previous version was because I was temporarily running like version 9.something because my install CD was old.
