ever since the entire 9.0 mess with FPS drops and other issues, I kinda dropped World of Tanks, but it got fixed (sort-of), so I decided to try historical battles once again. I mean, I have a 5 perk crew in the most ubiquitous vehicle of all, Panzer IV (and StuG), how hard can it be to get into battle with that? Time to get that 50 percent more credit income for playing Panzer IV in Ardennes!

Well… I play on EU2 server (65k players online at that moment about an hour ago) and…

Yea… literally nobody playing the Ardennes. After a few minutes of wait, there was not a single battle in any vehicle. Oh well, time to switch server. Switched to EU1.


This time, I got into a battle after 3 minutes if wait or so. There was only a couple of us and many Americans, so we got killed. Yeeeaa… okay. Second try (this time with a StuG). Same result, same team – literally, I encountered the same guys. We lost. Uhm okay. Third attempt with a StuG, again playing with (and against) the same people, killed two Hellcats in the StuG, but we lost again. After three losses in a row, I was like **** it. Knowning that both StuG and Panzer IV were completely hopeless in Balaton, I decided to switch to Kursk – with following results:

Yea. Like 20 people (on the entire 100k EU1 server!!!!!) in the historical battles queue and still I didn’t get in, waited for 5 minutes with the Panzer IV (remember when developers said “if you want to play a Tiger, you will wait, if you want to play lowtier, you will get in immediatelyâ€) – then the same result with the StuG and then I gave up.

After a couple of weeks since the patch, nobody is playing historical battles.

It’s a complete flop. I wonder why that is? Personally, I think it’s two reasons:

- dubious balance
- monotonous battles

The balance of some battles is ridiculous (playing Panzer IV in Balaton for example is utterly pointless – that L/43 cannot harm the IS even with gold ammo properly – or the Americans steamrolling the Germans in Ardennes with a crowd of Hellcats). I do believe that Kursk is at this moment the best balanced historical battle – I also suspect that the earlier the historical battle, the easier will it be to balance – late in the war, historically, there were encounters of vehicles that in World of Tanks completely outclass one another (for example that Panzer IV versus IS) and even though the battle of such vehicles is historical, it’s also not fun and is completely pointless.

The introduction of special characteristics for HB only is an interesting concept and I wonder, what will it do, but if the next historical battle (as mentioned by WG ASIA staff) indeed is Tobruk, I do worry a lot – Matilda II versus (early!) Panzer III and early Panzer IV. I am really afraid that’s not going to end well.

However that’s the future. As for the current state of historical battles, I am afraid it turned out to be a failure.

There are many unique vehicles in World of Tanks, and this latest On Track zeroes in on the French Bat.-Châtillon 155 58, a tier X auto-loading artillery!

The 155 58's cannon is not only a four-round magazine auto-loader, capable of barraging enemies repeatedly -- it also has the luxury of being able to traverse a complete 360 degrees, allowing you to accurately fire away. Given that the chasis is based off of a quick medium tank, the Bat.-Châtillon 155 58 is able to tactically move around the battlefield swiftly, making it extremely difficult for enemy artillery to counter-fire. As is usual with auto-loaders, there is a lengthy wait while reloading the clip so be sure to choose your shots wisely!

With the upcoming Clan Wars event, World on Fire, battles will be fought amongst true brothers in arms! True satisfaction from victory on the battiefield can only come through competition. Clans will soon be able to battle on the Global Map for rewards including unique medals, special vehicles, and the prestige of being the strongest Clan.

The event will begin May 6, and will feature a secondary (Sandbox) map throughout the event. The first map will have standard Clan Wars rules while the second map will host the battles for the event. The World on Fire map will be launched on April 24 in World Redivision mode,and until the event begins, this will serve as a test mode with the standard rules of Clan Wars until the World on Fire map is wiped.

The following is the process of wiping the event map prior to the start of the event:
All actions made by players will be cancelled
Income from ransacked provinces will be restored
All chips on the World on Fire map will be available for the first turn in scope of the event
World on Fire begins with World Redivision

The moment that both Global Maps become available, and until the event is closed, Clans will be allowed to switch between maps at any moment or choose to exit it as well.

Participating Clans will have the opportunity to enter the battle with Wargaming Alpha Company, which will defend Maryland and Houston, Texas during World Redivison on the Event Map, beginning May 6.

The World on Fire event will last for 12 days. During this time, all vehicles tier VIII and below are allowed. Participating Clans will receive Victory Points while players earn Fame Points. The main goal for participants is battling in territories with high-probabilty revolts.

The Top 11 Clans with the largest amount of Victory Points will get the following Gold prizes sent to their Clan Treasury:
1st place: 300,000
2nd place: 200,000
3rd place: 100,000
4th - 5th place: 80,000 per Clan
6th - 7th place: 60,000 per Clan
8th - 9th place: 40,000 per Clan
10th - 11th place: 20,000 per Clan

During the World on Fire event, the following medals will also be awarded:


Eternal Flame

1st Class • 2nd Class • 3rd Class

Awarded in three stages to the Clans holding the top 3 highest Victory Point totals.

Fire Warrior Awarded to players who win five (5) or more battles during the event.
Fire Storm
Awarded to all members of a Clan that wins the most battles during the event. Earning this medal will also grant 100,000 to the Clan Treasury. (Should there be a tie in the amount of wins, the medal is awarded to both Clans.)

Rising Flame Awarded to all members of a Clan that manages to conquer two or more revolts.
Raging Inferno Awarded to all members of a Clan that manages to conquer the most amount of revolts during the event. Earning this medal will grant 100,000 to the Clan Treasury.
Fire Tamer Awarded to all members of a Clan that is able to defend two or more revolting provinces.
Firefighter Awarded to all members of a Clan that manages to defend the most amount of revolting provinces during the event. Earning this medal will also grant 100,000 to the Clan Treasury.
Marked by Fire Awarded to all players who participate in at least three (3) battles during the event.

Finally, active players who participate in these battles will earn Fame Points. The most active players will have a chance to be awarded with a special prize - the American tier VII T23E3 medium tank! This vehicle will be awarded to 1,500 players who manage to have the highest amount of Fame Points.
