In-Game Performance

The AMX 50 B can be described as a very unique vehicle in its class. It is capable of reaching an impressive speed of 65 km/h, which makes it the fastest heavy tank in the game. In addition, good acceleration and manoeuvrability both add to the vehicle’s mobility. This means you can reach key positions on the map before the enemy and quickly relocate if needed. Another great feature of the tank is its excellent 170 mm frontal armour plate. This is additionally mounted at a very acute angle, significantly increasing the chances of a ricochet. The armament is something anyone facing the vehicle will fear – the AMX 50 B is armed with the reasonably accurate 120 mm SA46 gun, capable of penetrating 257 mm of armour and dealing an average of 400 damage points per shot. What’s more, the gun comes with an autoloader and drums containing four shells each. This configuration allows you to shoot four times every 2.5 seconds and deal considerable burst damage before the drum is empty.

Unfortunately, the vehicle has also a few major disadvantages you need to take into consideration when in battle. First and foremost, you need to bear in mind that the front side of the hull is practically the only armoured part of this vehicle – each shot fired at your sides, rear and especially at the turret will penetrate and deal damage. In addition, the vehicle is quite large, and you can rest assured that the risk of being spotted is high. Even though the AMX 50 B is capable of delivering a lot of damage in a short period of time, replacing an empty drum is a very long process which leaves you defenceless and vulnerable at the time. Last but not least, you need to remember that your HP pool is very low in comparison to other Tier X heavy tanks. This means that if you get exposed, your vehicle can end up destroyed very quickly.

If you want to drive your AMX 50 B effectively (or any other vehicle from the series for that matter), you need to remember one crucial thing – you are NOT a frontline tank and you should NOT lead the charge against anything heavier than SPGs and light tanks. Your primary role in the team is to support your heavier and better armoured teammates, and let them draw the attention of the enemy while dealing damage from behind cover yourself.

Player tip: Please bear in mind that your team will rely on your fire during combat, and will be expecting you to attack or finish off the enemies they’re engaged with. Remember that replacing an empty ammo drum takes a lot of time, so we advise you to ALWAYS signal the team when you’re reloading. This way, your teammates will be able to adjust their tactic and wait for you instead of putting themselves under fire in a vain hope for your support. You can report reloading your drum by pressing the F8 button.

Event Mode: Steel Hunt - Unleash your inner predator



Tankers,

After making its recent debut as part of a Public Test, the Steel Hunt event mode will be made available in Update 9.9. First and foremost you should be aware that this is not a traditional Team vs Team Event - it’s dog eat dog, every tanker for themselves (or for a select few platoon mates).

Objectives



The primary objective is to score more Victory Points than the other players/platoons before the battle ends. This is accomplished through completing various objectives, from capturing flags to destroying enemy vehicles.

One Event: Three Formats

Steel Hunt adjusts itself based on which team setups are detected by the matchmaker. Therefore, when you set out to play this mode, you will end up in one of three formats with different rules and different layouts of the Icebound and Ghost Town maps:

(1) Mixed Format


(2) Platoon Format


(3) Solo Format


Special Event Vehicles

Similarly to Domination, the following special vehicles will be available for use in this event: Bat.-Châtillon 25 t (D), IS-7 (D), Leopard 1 (D), T57 Heavy Tank (D), and Object 268 (D). The combat characteristics of these vehicles are identical to those of their existing in-game counterparts. The vehicles will be added to your Garage for free with the deployment of Update 9.9. To enter battle, you simply have to select one of these tanks and click Battle! You are free to install Equipment and Consumables and even use matching Crews that you already have in your Barracks.

Limitations to Respawning

When your vehicle is destroyed in battle, you will have 10 seconds to select a different vehicle from the roster. You cannot wait to select the same kind of vehicle again because its repair time will be 30 seconds and you will miss the respawn window.

Repair Points

On the map there will be a number of zones to repair a vehicle and replenish ammunition. To activate these zones, simply enter the yellow circle, marked on the mini-map with the corresponding icon. Zones need to recharge after use, so pay attention to the actions of your comrades!

Special Event Combat Reserves

During a round of Steel Hunt, the following Combat Reserves will be at your disposal but you will have to earn them first…

- Artillery Strike – most of you know the deal here…
- Airstrike - pepper the ground with an accurate bombardment that you can shape with your mouse - a real joy to witness!

In order to unlock these two powerful allies, you need to perform well in the wider battle. Dealing damage and destroying enemies fills up a bar next to your consumables. When the bar is full, these Combat Reserves become available. To use Combat Reserves when they are available, press the 7 or 8 keys and choose the target point.

This year, in honour of the 70th anniversary of the victory in Europe and the 71st anniversary of D-Day, a group of guests including veterans and actors from the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers gathered in Normandy, France. The four-day event (June 4-7) saw participants tour the Overlord Museum, the Utah Beach Museum and the Richard D. Winters Leadership Monument. For fans of Band of Brothers and history aficionados, it was a unique chance to meet veterans who participated in the D-Day landings and the actors who portrayed them, as well as tour areas where actual battles took place.
