Operation Citadel was the name of the German Offensive that opened the immense Battle of Kursk in 1943. This weekend we look back on the events of one of the most famous tank clashes in history, whilst enjoying bonuses in-game!

After defeat in the Battle of Stalingrad, the Germans were desperate for victory on the Eastern Front. Operation Citadel was the name of their attempt to get back on the offensive.

After the battle of Stalingrad, a huge bulge in the German lines, called the Kursk Salient had been created. Within this bulge was a powerful concentration of Soviet forces. The Germans sought to eliminate this bulge to shorten their lines and to demonstrate the might of their forces to the Soviets.

The preparations and planning for this offensive were immense. The German troops were equipped with huge quantities of new equipment including Tiger and Panther tanks, and the strategic planning went on for a good four months.

In theory, it was to be a complete secret and surprise operation, but it turned out to be one of the least-kept secrets of the war. The Soviets were easily able to tell what the Germans were up to and planned two counteroffensives called Operation Kutozov and Operation Polovodets Rumyantsev to fight back.

The result was the opening of the Battle of Kursk on the 4th July 1943, and it was to continue through July and August. During this time, the single event deemed ‘the greatest tank battle in history’ took place on the fields of Prokhorovka on July 12th, in which 1,500 tanks were involved.

Despite the meticulous planning by the Germans, they were unable to make any progress in breaking the Soviet lines and sustained very heavy losses, mainly because of the superiority of the Soviet forces. Over the two month period, the German Army sustained huge losses in men and equipment. Operation Citadel ended up being the last major offensive they launched in Russia, and until the end of the war they remained on the defensive.

EU-Go4WoT Tournament Changes
Go4WoT Tournament Changes | eSports | World of Tanks

Go4WoT is one of the most popular reoccurring weekly World of Tanks tournaments and it’s not a big surprise that the number of participants keeps on growing. We want everyone to have some fun and that is why there will be a bonus prize added to the tournament.

From now on all Go4WoT participants will automatically be subject to a raffle in which they will be able to win a KV-5 soviet tier VIII premium tank and two ESL premium accounts! It doesn’t matter how well you score, all you have to do it participate.

That’s not all! Every couple of months we will switch the KV-5 for a Type 62 Chinese premium tier VII light tank!

Apart from these additions to the prize pool, Go4WoT also underwent a small rules change. To bring the tournament in line with other major tournaments of the professional league, the Widepark map has been replaced with the Steppes map in the map pool.

The start time of the Sunday Go4WoT games has been changed from 15:00 CEST (GMT +2) to 14:00 CEST (GMT +2).

You begin the game as a newly-changed vampire, without support, having only what you managed to find in surrounding ruins.

During the course of the game you'll do many quests penetrating the ruined world, seeking every patch of the past that will help you defeat your enemies. You will fight against other vampires dwelling in the city to gain resources, experience and respect. You will battle to protect every yard of those few alleys called the square. You will also lay sieges trying to get through to wealthier districts called the zones. However, you won't be alone during these heroic battles. Your clanmates will support you on the way to power.

Sounds good eh? i'll get down to the problem quickly , we have only one English underworld server where the supposed population is 18,000 but it's all a lie, we only have about 200 active players and this is declining, what we need is new enthusiastic members to this game! (this is where you lot come in )

Yes, that's what I said, kind of It would make the gap between us get smaller, but we would eventually pass you, if we keep staying on the same amount of troops. But if we somehow could prevent someone from staying on low troops for too long, it would be possible to work. The gap would become smaller, and the game would become more challenging, and not end instantly when one nation starts to dominate.

 

I doubt that it will be added. It could, but then it would be incredibly unbalanced. IF they would add it, they should also add some options that lets you choose who you are going to fight against. For example, you can choose what classes you want to fight. So if you are a cleric, and you choose to only fight against cleric and wizard, only those can be your opponent ^^
