What's your favorite game of the current generation of consoles?

After much deliberation i've decided to award the honor to Risen 2. Arkham City, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and Mass Effect 3 were in the running, but i've got to go with Piranha Bites' incredible pirate-themed RPG.

My single favorite thing about it is the amount of agency afforded to the player. There are always multiple paths through quests, but unlike in games like Dragon Age, all of your options are not neatly laid out for you. There are obvious solutions, sure, but often there are more fun ways to do something if you give it a little thought.

Example: Early on in the game you need to free a pirate from a cell. You can do the obvious thing and nick the key from the Commandant... or you can wander the perimeter of the town, take control of a cannon, and blast a hole in the wall through which Harkins can escape.

Better yet, you have the chance to learn voodoo which allow you to take control of several characters throughout the game. In order to do so you need to find a way to obtain a hair from the person you wish to step into, but you can take control of the Commandant and personally pardon the prisoner.

The voodoo element adds a really interesting layer to the game, and when you do take control of a person, you can generally do all the things you want to as them. Resign from important positions, order hirelings around, scare your companions. It's great.

It is also an exceptionally funny game with some really clever dialogue. When told that you may enter the pirate tavern, but may be disappointed that it isn't *** night, you can reply with this gem.
