This was probably the first “io” game I’ve ever played, and it is easily one of the best. I remember playing this game spring of 2015 and it was just addicting; even the biology theme behind the game is kind of cool since it’s about colonies forming in a Petri dish of agar, hence the name “Agar.io”. You start off as a small cell feeding on smaller…[Read more]

Very old game, but easily one of the most popular RTS of the 90s and rivals strategy games like Civilization pretty well. I don’t really see myself playing Age of Empires considering it is over 20 years old now, so the game hasn’t really aged well, but I do like the theme behind this game, where you’re advancing through different parts of…[Read more]

  • I remember when Mojang announced Scrolls. Too bad they had to change the name because of a trademark issue from Bethesda with “The Elder Scrolls”, so the game is now called “Caller’s Bane”.

There is the saying, “all good things must come to an end”.

Dead MMORPGs tend to be the result of: decline in players, obsolescence of software, a successor to the MMORPG, unsuccessful marketing, or a new company acquisition. There are a lot of factors, and sometimes it’s just not viable keeping an MMORPG around forever.

When you have any of…[Read more]

  • Free-to-play MMORPGs are great, if you can only play a few times per week (otherwise, you’re really just wasting a subscription, if you’re playing a few times per week on a pay-to-play MMORPG). But I do agree that pay-to-play games just have better quality, but I think pay-to-play games have a harder time competing because of other MMORPGs…[Read more]

  • It’s always been confusing what MMOFPS even means. To me, most games that call themselves “MMOFPS” are nothing but just “FPS” with emphasis on PvP (online multiplayer, but not necessarily massive), and sometimes not even an FPS at all since they can sometimes just be third-person shooters. They might feature some elements that are shared with…[Read more]

  • Not really a huge fan of this game personally. Even the graphics isn’t that good as there’s poorly-textured backgrounds and sometimes too much text. And this simulation requires a lot of reading which just isn’t for me. I think it’s more described as a “sports management” game that’s pretty much gladiator-themed, but this game just doesn’t give me…[Read more]

  • I looked at the gameplay and this game has VR support. Looks kind of fun, especially with the slow motion bullets. Game’s graphics is pretty good despite being very simple with monochromatic colors most of the time. If you’re looking for fast-paced shooters that will keep your adrenaline running, this game definitely isn’t it. But if you’re look…[Read more]

  • It’s a cool modern game (2011) that seeks to go retro with heavy inspiration from NES games. To me, the game kind of feels like a blend of Zelda with some RPG elements, probably closer to Final Fantasy. Music is amazing capturing the essence of 8-bit music, especially the fast battle music. Artwork is pretty good as well for retro graphics.…[Read more]

  • Actually looks pretty good. The game has rich, saturated colors that just pop nicely and there’s so much detail with the lighting and the overworld. The game also has action combat (with dodge and block) which is great as it’s a lot better than turn-based combat of other MMOs. Game also features other core elements of MMOs like crafting, questing,…[Read more]

  • One of the most popular games to play right now, and possibly even Rockstar Games’ biggest game as it’s a massive hit. Game has such an open world, and very clean graphics as well, that not many other games even come close to GTA V. And there’s just so much to do in the game like play through the missions, drive around, do heists, etc. This game…[Read more]

  • Blizzard is such a big company that I don’t really see any other MMORPG dominating the scene more than WoW. Maybe Nexon has a good chance, but I feel like Nexon is more focused on having quantity of MMOs rather than just one particular MMO.

And right now, the biggest hype seems to be New World, Amazon’s newest MMO. It’s hard to tell right now…[Read more]

  • I tend to stick to one MMORPG myself, often a game that I know I’ll continue playing. It’s often too time consuming trying to play multiple MMOs, as there’s too much to try to keep up with. And I generally avoid subscription-based games (pay-to-play) such as WoW, because I feel like I just can’t make use of time effectively, if I’m already focused…[Read more]

  • I think Guild Wars is still going strong. ArenaNet’s next (third) expansion pack for Guild Wars is going to be “Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons” for 2022. Not sure what to expect, but it’s great seeing the game still doing well despite other genres like MOBAs and Battle Royale dominating the gaming scene these last 5 years.

  • I think online RPGs can be extremely fun to play, if they have action combat and complexity like diverse skill trees. MMORPGs still dominate parts of PC gaming, but ARPGs are gaining pretty good traction for mobile gaming. I think the biggest downside to MMORPGs, especially for mobile gaming, are features like “auto-questing”; might make the…[Read more]

Sacred (2004) is an alright ARPG. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of games with an isometric camera view, but I kind of appreciate the way the overworld turned out since you can zoom out far enough to see much of the world’s scenery. Gameplay seems kind of nice though, since the game has six character types ranging from Dark Elf to Vampiress all…[Read more]

  • Game feels kind of outdated; character models just don’t look that well and the overworld has textured graphics that just aren’t pleasant to look at. Also I think this game is closer to an MMOFPS than an MMORPG, but I’m not exactly too sure. The game features role-play elements like questing, but it also featurings elements of shooter games, so it…[Read more]

  • Great game, if you’re a fan of the Star Wars franchise. However, I feel like SWG often gets overshadowed by SWTOR since SWTOR was pretty much the successor. But for its time, I think Star Wars Galaxies was pretty interesting since the class system was very intricate and the world itself felt vast with planets everywhere (and did have 10 planets…[Read more]

  • Definitely a fun game, very addicting to play especially when you’re playing the game with friends over LAN (for the PC version of the game). It’s just as fun as Quake 3, maybe even better as it feels more rewarding getting multikills and sprees in this game. It might be an old game, but it is still pretty popular; it’a also developed by Epic…[Read more]

  • Pretty good MMORPG, definitely like it more than Marvel-based and DC-based MMOs since characters are all original. One feature that really stands out in this MMORPG is the sidekick feature; it really makes the game feel like a superhero game instead of just a game about punching bad guys. Graphics aren’t the best, but this game is from 2004, but…[Read more]
