  • When it comes to online gaming with consoles, I feel like there’s been a huge regression. I remember in the 3DS and Wii U era when you didn’t have to get a subscription just to play online games, plus the games were cheaper too. But now, you just buy a $60 game, and if you want to play that game online with friends, you have to also buy a…[Read more]

I think I would rather stick to modded Minecraft if I wanted to play voxel shooters, since there’s so many ways you can customize Minecraft. You can’t really do that easily with other voxel games; but even if voxel shooters did allow players to mod the game, it just isn’t as popular as Minecraft.

  • Seems kind of fun playing with TNT to create tunnels; it’s something I would probably do if I was bored. It can be a little chaotic though, since you might blow up blocks that unveil a stream of lava or water, or you might even blow up diamond ores.

  • VR is still too early for wide-scale use, so I don’t really see it being as useful in most of education and at work. I think there needs to be more focus on improving motion control technologies, improving DPI resolution, and cutting down the weight on these headsets. But if VR can get those three things right, you can probably expect simulation…[Read more]

  • It’s a medieval fantasy MMORPG from 2003, but it seems kind of abandoned. I think this game was initially shut down, restarted, and then shut down again in 2009, so it doesn’t seem like it would be a successful game. It was also donation-funded, so that’s kind of cool to see a game funded (before sites like Kickstarter even existed). And looking…[Read more]

  • Pretty cool, especially with the incorporation of a sci-fi theme. Might even be the first sci-fi MMORPG, especially considering this game came out in 2001. But for Shadowlands, that one’s an expansion that came out in 2003, and is apparently the game’s largest expansion. Expansion has its own floating city and has over 150 dungeons, so that’s…[Read more]

  • I like it, especially the Arthurian theme this game has. Seems like the storyline would probably be the best this game would have since each realm has its own storyline. I would probably be entrenched by the story; The realms, Albion is based on King Arthur mythology, Hibernia on Celtic folklore, and Midgard on Norse mythology, so there’s a very…[Read more]

  • Seems kind of fun, but the game is definitely old now (from 2003); I think Planetside 2 is a better choice since it’s more active and it’s an improvement. But looking at Planetside 1, it doesn’t seem too bad, and even graphically, the game looks pretty good for its time. I do like the combat vehicles that this game has, because not a lot of FPS…[Read more]

  • Pretty good game. I think it was also the first MMORPG of the Final Fantasy series, so it was much different to fans of Final Fantasy, especially if they haven’t tried an MMORPG before. Coming from a viewpoint similar to that, I’d probably be most impressed with having customizable characters rather than predefined main characters, but also the…[Read more]

  • Never knew there was a game based on the movie Inside Out. The movie was quite popular though. But I’m not surprised considering there tends to be a lot of games based on movies.

  • Castle Crashers was probably the one I remembered the most. I remember playing the precursor, a Flash game called “Castle Crashing: The Beard”, during the haydays of Flash, and then some time later saw Castle Crashers and then the developers just became instantly popular.

  • I think the biggest mistake for game programmers is creating games without learning the fundamentals. Once you learn the fundamentals (if-else and switch-case statements, loops, functions, structs and classes, objects [inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation, abstraction], pointers and memory management), it becomes easier to piece things…[Read more]

  • Python is a pretty good choice since it’s very general purpose, meaning it’s versatile in many applications. You could get into machine learning, data science, game programming, databases, web development, and much more. Might be harder for some to learn since the syntax is kind of different (e.g. tab indention instead of curly braces).

    I think…[Read more]

  • If you haven’t played City of Heroes before, then I think City of Villains would be a pretty good start, but if you have played City of Heroes before, then there isn’t a lot different and it probably wouldn’t be worth playing. The game is pretty much a sequel to the first MMORPG [City of Heroes], featuring original characters not based on any…[Read more]

  • I would say skip the 2002 version of this game and just go for Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition (2018 game) since that one is pretty much full of content, especially since it has content from the diamond edition. Quality compared to the original feels kind of minor though, mostly focused on enhancing the lighting, but it does feel truer to the…[Read more]

  • Snowy commented on the post, WYD Global 3 years, 4 months ago

With Your Destiny (WYD) Global doesn’t seem too bad, though it is kind of old, dating back to 2003. Apparently JoyImpact has started remaking the game and updating the graphics as of 2019, but I can’t really tell much difference between 2021 footage of this game and 2010 footage of this game. Gameplay seems pretty decent though; not a lot of game…[Read more]

  • It’s an MMO with an oriental theme rather than the common fantasy theme. Character creation isn’t too bad since you can customize face type, body type, details, and hair style, but this game doesn’t really have a class system as far as I can tell, since the playable character seems to default as some soldier character. The game, however, does…[Read more]

  • It’s kind of a unique MMORPG since it’s a 2D MMO, and it appears to date back to 1996, so it’s very old. It has character customization like any MMORPG, but the gameplay feels a little more like MUDs of the 90s. It features turn-based combat which probably was cool for its time, but doesn’t seem as interesting now since action-based combat seems…[Read more]

  • Popular games hasn’t changed too much over the years, especially with CS:GO and Dota 2 still at the top spots, but a couple of Battle Royale games have made it to the top 5. Furthermore, Team Fortress 2 moved down as the 8th most popular game on Steam, Terraria is the 24th most popular, and Clicker Heroes isn’t even in the top 100s.

    Right now…[Read more]

  • Snowy commented on the post, Clicker Games 3 years, 4 months ago

From my experience, clicker games can get boring. It’s more of something to do when you just want to spend a few minutes. For instance, I tend to just hop into a clicker game, purchase upgrades to increase profits in the game, and then close the game and repeat the tasks the next day, because clicking a bunch of times feels too repetitive. Even…[Read more]
