  • RPG Maker does make it very convenient to create games, especially if you’re more of a storyteller (and lack any programming and art skill). I think the most popular version is still RPG Maker MV since that one makes it so convenient to port your games to mobile or even web browsers. And it seems to have more support (script, art, etc.) than its…[Read more]

  • I don’t think Spotify was really that boundary-breaking of an app. Sure, it’s probably the most popular music streaming service, but I think most people just download music to their phone, so they don’t have to listen to ads or use up cellular data.

But Pokémon GO on the other hand was probably the most boundary-breaking. It pretty much…[Read more]

It’s an old FPS game that dates back to 2004 for Korea (where the game was known as Special Force) and 2007 for North America (where the game became known as Soldier Front). Graphics looks kind of outdated though, but for it’s time, I think this would have been a fun shooter. It seems to have 11 game modes which is actually quite impressive for a…[Read more]

RYL: Path of the Emperor seems kind of an obscure MMORPG since I haven’t heard of it before, but it seems to be an MMO from 2004 or 2005. Obviously, the game is pretty old, so it doesn’t bear the best graphics, but it doesn’t look too bad; at least there are blades of grass in the game, whereas in other old games and even some modern games, I tend…[Read more]

  • Seems kind of interesting. It’s a fusion of MMO and third-person shooter, with role-playing elements like questing, crafting, PvP, PvE and player customization. Star of the game seems to be PvP though, with game modes like turf war, shootout, capture the zone, and tons more. Game also looks pretty good, utilizing Unreal Engine 3. Overall, I’d rate…[Read more]

  • Amazing 2D indie game. Can’t really call it a Minecraft clone since it was released before Minecraft, but you can almost imagine it as “Minecraft squished into 2D with 16-bit pixel art”. It’s essentially a side-scrolling sandbox with crafting and survival, but has a more elaborate battle system with tons of bosses and exploration. Game is also…[Read more]

Pretty good game, way better than 2D metaverse games since the 3D really makes the game stand out. You can customize your 3D avatar, interact with other players, and explore around. Not a whole lot to gameplay other than maybe some arcade games such as KIX dance unfortunately, but I think the game is more about the social aspect. Overall, I’d rate…[Read more]

  • Virtual reality hasn’t seemed that impressive, but personally, I don’t find it comfortable wearing a headset most of the time since it’s just extra weight plus motion sickness, and I feel like many people would probably not enjoy virtual reality for similar reasons, so it’s really for a niche demographic despite the hype for it.

    I think motion…[Read more]

  • One thing that seems very trendy with indie games is that a lot of (successful) indie games borrow inspirations from retro/old games. Undertale is probably a great example since that game was inspired by Earthbound/Mother and other games, and was mostly made by one individual which is an impressive feat.

  • So much has changed with popularity of games on Twitch. It used to be League of Legends that dominated the streaming site all of the time, especially in the 2010s, but then sometimes you started seeing CS:GO, GTA V, or some other popular game take the #1 spot, but usually for a short time. But then in 2017, Fortnite seem to take the #1 spot for…[Read more]

This game could be considered the pinnacle of MOBAs, considering that this game, along with League of Legends, dominates the genre. Even the game can be quite competitive, with championships and eSports tournaments that pro-gamers can compete in, or for regular gamers to watch; in fact, the learning curve of this game could be a bit challenging…[Read more]

It’s an alright MOBA. The name of this game probably could be improved, since there’s a 1996 game called Strife which is not related in anyway to the 2015 game called Strife, but it shouldn’t be too hard for people to discover this game. There’s not an insane amout of heroes like in other MOBAs, but over 30 heroes isn’t too bad. Game does try to…[Read more]

Pretty fun game, and easy to get into, especially if you’re coming from League of Legends. Conquest mode seems to be the most popular game mode, which is essentially a 5v5 match. What I like most about this game are the heroes, since there’s a huge inspiration of mythology from Greek mythology, Egyptian mythology, to even Norse mythology. Plus the…[Read more]

  • Excellent MOBA by Blizzard which has seems to take some inspirations from Dota. Gameplay is simple to understand in that the player enters a 5v5 match, and the main objective is to destroy the King’s Core. Game is composed of over 90 heroes, all of which are from Blizzard’s own games like from Warcraft, Diablo, and StarCraft. It’s a pretty good…[Read more]

  • Excellent MMORPG with a complex, yet amazing combat system, with skills categorized under weapon skills, healing skills, utility skills, and elite skill. PvP also seems quite interesting, especially with the popular Conquest mode, which is essentially a 5v5 deathmatch. Customization of characters is vast, even introducing various races such as…[Read more]

  • New Leaf was quite fun for the 3DS, but its successor New Horizons for the Switch was probably the most successful for being an “escapist” game, especially with current events going on in 2020 and since the setting of the game is an island paradise.

  • Movies of video games have never been that successful. While a Minecraft movie might seem cool, Minecraft’s popularity is way too high for a movie to ever be more or equally as successful as the game itself. And the other thing to consider is, what should the movie even be about? For most gamers, Minecraft is just a sandbox which makes it very…[Read more]

  • I don’t think it’s a fair comparison, considering they’re of different genres. CS:GO is a shooter while League of Legends is a MOBA, so the play style will be different between the two. But both games are quite popular in competition like eSports.

  • Can’t go wrong with any of them, especially the classics like Donkey Kong and Pac-Man. Personally, I like racing arcade games, like the ones with a steering wheel attached to the machine, just because I find those types of arcade games most enjoyable.

  • Pretty good sci-fi game, especially if you’re a fan of the Star Trek series. Star Trek Online, alongside Star Wars: The Old Republic, are easily top spot when it comes to sci-fi themed MMOs. But compared to MMOs as a whole, it’s more than above average. Star Trek Online captures many themes of the Star Trek series like the fictional species, the…[Read more]
