Definitely practice since that encompasses all sorts of online games, but don’t just practice. Practicing the wrong technique can become a habit that’s hard to change and adapt to, so it’s important to practice with the right technique and keep improving.

Snowy commented on the post, The Evolution in Game Technology 2 years, 9 months ago
Pretty good advances in gaming technology, some going as far back as a decade or even two decades ago. I think Nintendo’s created the eCard reader to scan the barcode of an eCard which was kind of the earliest form of “DLC” which unlocked bonus content in some Game Boy Advance games. And there’s also the Amiibo which I think actually uses NFC…[Read more]

Not just desktop computers and mobile devices, but esports’ popularity even extends to consoles. Super Smash Bros. comes to mind, when I think of esports for any video game console.

Snowy commented on the post, How To Become A Successful Game Streamer 2 years, 9 months ago
Having good equipment definitely does help build a better audience, because the audience can see that you’ve put effort to making the stream presentable. However, I’ve seen streamers that started out their streaming career with decent equipment, and grew over time and improving their stream quality, so it’s not impossible to be a successful…[Read more]

I’ve definitely heard of The Oregon Trail before since it’s an old but classic game, but never realized there was an anniversary edition as late as the 2010s. The games were pretty fun.

I’m quite surprised Roblox is as popular as it is today. I mean the game started out in 2006, and for a game that old, you’d think there’d be less active users, but Roblox is picking up over a 100 million active users a month which is crazy.

Snowy commented on the post, Can a $800 Gaming Laptop Run Apex Legends at 144 FPS? 2 years, 9 months ago
I’m sure it’s possible to find budget gaming laptops that can run games with really high FPS, but they’re usually hard to find or sold out. And sometimes it’s better to wait until Black Friday when some of the great gaming laptops are at a great price anyway.

Snowy commented on the post, What Is the Best Place to Play Games? 2 years, 9 months ago
Yeah, having the same device (or system) makes sense for certain games. It’s kind of unfortunate that I can’t play Minecraft (Java Edition – PC) with friends that play Minecraft (Bedrock Edition – console).

Snowy commented on the post, Three Tips on How to Stay Safe Online While Playing CS:GO 2 years, 9 months ago
Definitely good tips, though I think security for a game like CS:GO may be a bit “too secure” unless you’re some popular video game streamer (or potential target). Usually security isn’t on my radar when I’m playing games.

Snowy commented on the post, A Short History of the CS: GO Team Na’Vi 2 years, 10 months ago
Seems like a nice history, and I think it’s clever that they incorporated a Latin phrase into their team name, in fact, fittingly since they really were born to win.

Snowy commented on the post, The Effects of Online Game Loot Boxes on Families 2 years, 10 months ago
One in six is actually pretty high, and probably should be concerning to the point that there ought to be certain restrictions. That’s almost 17% of children buying loot boxes by stealing their parents money. Of course, the responsibility should also be on the parents to safeguard their belongings.

iMovie is pretty good. Actually, a lot of the apps that Apple makes (iTunes, iMovie, iCloud, Xcode, etc.) are pretty good quality.

Snowy commented on the post, Best Tech Gifts for Gamers 2 years, 10 months ago
I think the best gift depends largely on what the gamer is interested in and especially how often they’ll use it. Usually gaming peripherals that have a largely functional purpose are the best choice, things like headsets, mouse, etc. Some things that are less functional and more aesthetic, like LED strips, acoustic wall panels (could be somewhat…[Read more]

Snowy commented on the post, Everything You Want To Know About Gamification 2 years, 10 months ago
Gamification in the business world would actually be quite handy, a way to incentivize people by structuring business as if it were a game to compete in, but how it would be applied would really depend on the subject matter of that business. Not sure how different it would be in different environments, but the closest experience for me has been…[Read more]

Snowy commented on the post, 5 Hollywood Stars Who Like Playing Online Games 2 years, 10 months ago
Most people don’t really think about hobbies that celebrities are interested in, but more of what these celebrities do to be famous. It would be kind of interesting if there was some Q&A interview for celebrities where they’re asked the question of what their favorite video game is.

Snowy commented on the post, Academia Taking Notice of Esports 2 years, 10 months ago
It’s kind of interesting that gaming is taking relevance in academia, but not surprising considering the demographic is comprised of young adults, especially high school graduates that have the scholarship to partake in higher education.
Colleges and universities are much different than what they were decades ago. They used to be more about…[Read more]

Snowy commented on the post, Is it worth using a VPN? 2 years, 10 months ago
It’s worth it, if you can actually trust the brand servicing you the VPN service, but you should be cautious with how VPN companies advertise their service. You could look up Kitboga’s video “VPN Companies Are Lying To You” for better insight of why you might not want a VPN.
But on the flip side, aside from “privacy” that VPNs talk a great deal…[Read more]

Snowy commented on the post, What Will the Next Generation of Gaming Laptops Be? 2 years, 10 months ago
Forget Alder Lake chips; the M2 chips on the next MacBooks will probably blow all of the other chips away, and depending on the game, playing on a MacBook wouldn’t actually be too bad. For PC, I prefer AMD’s Ryzen chip family.

Among Us has definitely shaped online gaming, at least when it comes to social games, and I think it’s success is largely due to lockdowns all over the place. I think it takes the place for most influential and entertaining game for 2020 and even 2021.
