Snowy commented on the post, 4 Tips To Go From Gamer Kid to Game Programmer 2 years, 10 months ago
For absolute newbies learning to program games, I think simple games to create would be games like:
– Guess a number between 1-100
– Rock Paper Scissors
– Blackjack
– HangmanI think those examples are typical games you’d seen in any intro to programming.

Snowy commented on the post, A Quick History of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Gaming 2 years, 11 months ago
I think artificial intelligence is an interesting subject in video games. Some AI and machine learning algorithms require a good understanding of data science, but it’s pretty easy to find many examples online if you plan on making a game. For instance, if you create a turn-based RPG where there’s a player vs. a computer, you might run a Monte…[Read more]

Snowy commented on the post, Who is a Game Designer? 2 years, 11 months ago
The broadness of game design would probably make it easy for just about anyone to jump in. That broadness would cover pretty much anything from art, music, modeling, storyboard writer, etc.
And I think the easiest occupation for a game designer would be a freelancer, since they can always create assets that other game designers could use, so…[Read more]

Snowy commented on the post, Video Games Featuring Fun Mini-Games 2 years, 11 months ago
Personally my favorite mini-games would probably be from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time since that game, for its time, brought so much to the table. There are fun mini-games like Dampe’s Graveyard Tour, Archery Range, and Bombchu Bowling, and then there’s the infamous Fishing mini-game.

Never even heard of Legends of Runeterra or Battle Chasers: Nightwar before, but I guess it’s nice to see games other than all-time popular mobile games like Pokémon GO, Candy Crush Saga, etc. I haven’t been keeping track of mobile games lately, but Genshin Impact, I’ve heard is good.

Snowy commented on the post, 3 Best Online Game Sites in 2021 3 years, 1 month ago
If I had to be honest, these game sites aren’t really the best anymore (post-Flash, that is). Don’t get me wrong, these sites used to be great, especially in the mid-2000s, but Flash has changed everything. I think ArmorGames has already switched to HTML5, but there just aren’t as many games to play as there were before the Flash kill-switch. As…[Read more]

Snowy commented on the post, The Best Video Games for Sports Fans 3 years, 1 month ago
I’m not a huge sports fans (at least in the more traditional sense), so the sports games I would play would really be limited to games like Wii Sports and Rocket League. But I do imagine the other games would be great for sports fans, especially FIFA 21 and NFL 21 since it’s strongly connected with the actual sports.

Those classroom management games seem like they would be a whole lot of fun. Growing up, the closest thing I had to a classroom management game were Jeopardy-style PowerPoint games that teachers would use to assess learning.

Been excited for the new Metroid Dread. Last time I played a Metroid game was Metroid Fusion on the GameBoy Advance, so Metroid Dread feels like a whole renewal to the series.

Snowy commented on the post, How The Perception Of The Gamer Has Changed Beyond All Recognition In The Last 20 Years 3 years, 1 month ago
I think the biggest difference between 20 years ago and now is the online aspect of gaming. Back then, people just played games whenever they could, and would socialize more with other people in real life (even play games with other people, like on a GameBoy).
But now that everyone’s connected to the Internet, gamers find it convenient to play…[Read more] -

Looks like a neat game. It’s not everyday that I encounter a samurai game, especially one that’s open-world.

GoldenEye 007 is still one of my favorites. And watching speedruns of that game is even more interesting.

Snowy commented on the post, Understanding MMOs and their Popularity 3 years, 1 month ago
I’ve yet to see a successful MMO that utilizes VR technology. Maybe VRChat is the only exception, but it would be interesting to see if newer MMOs, especially MMORPGs, will take the VR approach.

Snowy commented on the post, Sports Video Game Series You Must Play 3 years, 1 month ago
It’s kind of crazy how many sports games there are for some video game series. I’ve only played one FIFA game on the PS2 several years ago, and I’m surprised companies like EA Sports still keep up the annual release of sports video games.

I would probably enjoy some of those games like Lonely Mountains Downhill. I’m not so much a fan of video games based on traditional sports, but racing games are different.

Snowy commented on the post, How to Control Gaming Addiction 3 years, 1 month ago
Hardest thing I find about controlling gaming addiction is when it’s a game that you invest time and money on. Once you do something, you just keep doing it, and it can sometimes be detrimental causing you to spend even more time and money on a game (especially if time and money on a game is what keeps progress — like winning). So I generally…[Read more]

Last decade’s been kind of rough for MMORPGs. With competitive gaming being mainstream in the 2010s, MOBA has been dominating the video game genre, and now you’ve got Battle Royale. Wonder if new MMOs like New World even have a chance to change the dynamic.

Snowy commented on the post, Playing Video Games Could Be Your Next High-Paid Job 3 years, 1 month ago
One thing that relates to all of these is, if you want to get a high-paying job related to video games, you’ve got to be passionate for it. It’s pretty much true with any kind of job. For instance with video games, a lot of content creators on YouTube and Twitch creating videos or streaming are generally committed and enjoy making content.

Snowy commented on the post, The Evolution of Video Games 3 years, 1 month ago
There’s a lot of history to video games. I feel like if it weren’t for Nintendo in 1983 to renew interests in video games to the American market, things would be much different. And looking now, Sony is one of the biggest player in the video game market, mainly because the PlayStation was more that just a video game console — it was also a DVD…[Read more]
