Gaming is a popular activity many have started to engage in even more. While it’s helped many people build a community in a world where it’s hard to really interact with people outside, it doe […]

    • Mental health will always vary from individual to individual, and I think it’s always important to find the game that’s suitable for you (if you get easily frustrated at a game, then just find another game).

I think anxiety and depression are the biggest issues that plague many countries today, and it’s so important to find a form of escapism. It might be inconvenient to fly over to a tropical resort or go outside to a music concert, but it’s sure easy to find games that reduce stress and other mental health issues. Video games get downplayed and undervalued very often, and I think it’s important to experience the fun of video games in this day and age as a form of relief.

  • Esport has taken the world by storm. Electronic sports is officially taken to mean computer or video games played competitively under tournament structures and with some form of reward or prizes for the winners. […]

  • Yes, it’s true. A game that is completely incognito to the average consumer is currently dominating the NFL scene on mobile. How? Well, let me take you back to the glorious year of 2005.

    It’s (probably) just […]

  • With so many forms of entertainment vying for people’s attention these days, it can be quite overwhelming for consumers who simply want to use their spare time to relax and decompress after a stressful day at w […]

    • I find that mobile puzzle games are excellent for people that don’t spend a whole lot of time on their phones. I’ve seen some of my friends play games like Block Puzzle and Candy Crush Saga, and these are the kind of games that you could spend 5 minutes playing, especially on a lunch break or when waiting in line at a store. Classic games can be fun as well; I’ve seen a lot of Solitaire lately.

  • Nowadays, there’s hardly anyone who does not own a smartphone. After all, these devices are so useful — they can help us stay in touch with our loved ones, take photos of important moments, or stay on top of our […]

    • Can’t go wrong with Apple’s app store or Google’s play store. I think Android devices have a bit more versatility since you don’t really need to rely on the play store at all, especially since you can just install APKs directly. But definitely a whole lot of games out there on iOS or on Android.

But one thing I will say is to stay away from Amazon Fire. It’s harder to find certain apps and games on a Fire Tablet than it is to find them on Apple’s app store or Google’s play store (technically you can get the Google Play Store on Amazon Fire, but it usually requires tethering, and I think you’ll oftentimes encounter games and apps that are just incompatible).

  • This past weekend saw perhaps the largest esports tournament take place as the League of Legends Worlds finals in Shanghai pulled in record numbers for viewership across a number of platforms, early suggestions […]

  • Whether you noticed it or not, VR technology is already impacting multiple industries and continues to evolve. The past two years witnessed tremendous advances in the VR hardware and software, impacting various […]

    • I’m hopeful that VR will have more uses out there, especially when it comes to simulations (which could lend itself to applications outside of gaming). But VR has felt like a slow progress lately; other than the popular MMOVR game VRChat and the somewhat odd and clunky Nintendo Labo VR kit gaining attention in the past years, I don’t really hear a whole lot of news about VR.

  • Gaming is a good recreational act, a great way to relax and have fun. There are many games available, however, some are more appreciated than others. This is mostly because they were created with great gaming […]

  • The gaming industry has come a long way. From cartridges to discs and now to digital downloads, gaming has definitely changed so much in the last years. Online gaming appears to be becoming popular as well but it […]

    • Cloud gaming’s definitely an alternative that exists. Not going to discourage anyone from it, but I think it’s just one of those things that’s overhyped in the gaming community, and I think it’s still a bit early for cloud gaming to really take off.

I think one of the biggest problems with cloud gaming right now is energy consumption, especially when you consider how much energy data centers would have to consume on a daily basis to fit the needs of “cloud gamers”. If cloud gaming were to become mainstream, it would probably create more strain on data centers.

But aside from that, I don’t want to grow dependent on cloud services. For several years, I’ve enjoyed playing video games as a product than as a service, and I continue to enjoy video game products to this day; a company could easily discontinue a cloud gaming service or maybe even disallow certain cloud-serviced games at random, so I’d rather not trap myself to a service that could do that.

  • It seems like the cost of gaming keeps going up and up. If you’ve pre-ordered any of the new games for the PlayStation 5 or the Xbox Series S, you’ll know they are some of the most expensive sold in the ind […]

  • It is no doubt, video games are fun, exciting and can be addictive. There is nothing wrong if you see yourself having fun playing many different games online all the time, no one to blame as playing video games is […]

    • I think using time management techniques is the most effective in breaking away from video game addiction. My favorite (though it’s mostly used in work management) is using the Pomodoro Technique, so you can break down your day schedule into intervals by setting a timer for how long you’re going to do something.

  • The world is continually changing and adjusting to the times, and so is the online gaming community. A new movement is waiting in the wings and is about to take centre stage.

  • As soon as computers and the Internet became an integral part of our society, we became interested in everything related to them. Naturally, the most entertaining aspect was the easiest to fall in love with, so […]

    • I use a nice pair of blue light cutting glasses to help with my screen time!

    • I haven’t had much issue with eyesight and I’ve spent quite a lot of time playing online games (and doing other things that would keep me glued to my screen). But it could be that I use a software called f.lux to reduce blue light on my PC, and just use night shift on my phone.

Also there are a lot of modern technology that can monitor or improve your health as you’re gaming. For instance, I see a lot of people use heart rate monitors while playing games. And not all games are sedentary (for instance, motion control games are probably the best to keeping yourself in shape). I think it’s easier to stay in shape now than it was a decade or even two decades ago since there’s more technology assisting people. I mean I wouldn’t recommend spending 48 hours straight playing a game, but you could definitely play games for a long period of time before needing a break and still be fine in your day-to-day life.
