ogreman wrote a new post, Top Ways to Earn From Video Games 4 years, 8 months ago
The expansion of the online world has seen the growth of several income making platforms. While most people consider online video gaming as a pastime, you can turn it into a money-making venture. Nothing sounds […]
-
You can make videos about video games, stream you playing video games or even make video games yourself. It’s up to you to decide if you want to venture to the world of video games and do more than just playing them.
-
Twitch and YouTube are pretty good, though YouTube is a bit weird with it’s monetization restrictions. I think if you produce video content on YouTube and you’re just a small creator, the best way to earn income is looking for sponsors (like Honey, Raid Shadow Legends, NordVPN, SkillShare, Audible, etc.). A lot of times, you can just stick referral codes and whenever someone buys something, you earn a portion of the total income which is better than nothing. Plus I think videos with sponsors are less intrusive, and more people will see them since a lot of people use AdBlock these days.

Virtual reality and augmented reality are things to follow.
-
Enhanced graphics seem to be significant, and I think it goes along with advanced technology. Like if you go to the 8-bit era, hardware was limited and you could only create so little. Nowadays, you have game engines and graphics engines that help developers create enhanced graphics, better GPUs, and new innovations such as ray tracing. Even virtual reality is the result of advanced technology, going from the virtual boy to more advanced VR.

There are tons of online games out there that you can’t really go wrong with any of them. Usually what a player enjoys is up to preference, and I think narrowing down genres is a great way to give players an idea of what games they might enjoy.

You should expect long working hours work in the gaming industry. When working on a game with a deadline, crunch time is something that can take place which isn’t great for developers.
-
Getting into the gaming industry really depends on what you want to create; just keep it reasonable so that it’s something that you can accomplish. Oversaturation isn’t too big of a deal as long as what you create ends up feeling unique. And it’s not too difficult to get into the gaming business, if you start out as a hobbyist looking to work with other hobbyists until you find success, plus creating games as a hobby is a sure way to make your resumé look good. Otherwise, if income is a priority, freelancing is another thing to consider, and there are lots of places good for freelancing such as Fiverr or Patreon; like maybe you enjoy creating pixel art, but you can’t find a team to work with, so then showcasing some of your work and letting developers and game companies find you could be a great entry into the gaming industry.

ogreman wrote a new post, How Street Fighter II is making an unlikely comeback in 2020 4 years, 8 months ago
It’s hard to argue that a video game sequel has enjoyed quite as much global renown and success as Street Fighter II enjoyed in the early nineties.
Not only did Capcom’s hugely popular fighting game kick sta […]
-
Street Fighter II influenced many fighting games so it’s not surprising to see it do well even now.
-
I guess Street Fighter II was cool then, but I don’t see a whole lot of comeback for this game unless people hold tournaments like they do with Tetris and other classic games. I think newer installments like Street Fighter V: Champion Edition will remain Capcom’s future for the series.

Kind of a cool protagonist, especially when early video games didn’t really have many female protagonists. Sure, you had Samus from Metroid, but there weren’t many other female protagonists around toward the millenium.

I feel like live streams are the common and easiest tactic to gain popularity in this genre. It would be weird to attend an esports event just to watch it at that event, when you could watch it at the comfort at your own home.

E-reading lamp? That is pretty specific.
-
Agree! Very specific but also helpful. But a must buy? Don’t think so.
-
-
my parents actually have one of those for reading through documents at wor. is a very nice gadget I would say.
-
$139 for an e-reading lamp isn’t worth it in my opinion. I find it favorable to just create your own DIY lamp, though it does eat up time, and there are probably a bunch of project videos on how to create a lamp for your monitor, or at least some basic videos on how to get started. Surely it’s not that difficult to purchase cheap LEDs with a dimmer switch, some thin wood sheets and some wood glue to create something that’s aesthetically pleasing, and a coat of paint.
