    • Time attends to fly when you keep on playing.

    • Well most people do start off playing a game, being unfamiliar with the game at first, and it’s especially true with a game series that they haven’t played before. Sure, some concepts of a genre may carry over from one game over to another game, but there’s still things to explore in an unfamiliar game, and even tutorials and guides can be useful if you can’t figure things out.

  • Online games sometimes offer a gaming concept that relies on a RNG (Random Number Generator), known to offline games too because it has been used since the 70’s.

Live games are a step forward in adding real […]

  • Believe it or not, but there are still tabletop games that are sought after in 2018. Tabletop games come in many sizes and flavors, but they still are beloved by gamers. Some of these games even have digital […]

    • Exploding Kittens i think I saw a thread about that game on the forum.

      • It’s a card game and honestly i didn’t have any idea that there is a card game with that name. Exploding Kittens doesn’t really sound like a card game name.

    • Tabletop games are best played with multiple people for a better experience.

    • Tabletop games are fun, and you could always find online versions of some of them such as Ticket to Ride (the video game). I have a bunch of tabletop games like Forbidden Island, Exploding Kittens (with the Imploding Kittens expansion), etc. that I play when friends come over to my house.

    • The southern hemisphere feels completely empty. Kind of expected that maybe places like Brazil or Australia would be in the top 10, but I think it’s kind of surprising seeing European countries like France, Spain, Italy and Germany in the top 10.

  • Technology is always advancing and this is something that we have seen heavily in the online gaming industry in recent years. While it used to be that the biggest online gaming trend was the introduction of live […]

  • Technology moves so quickly we now have a huge range of games consoles to choose from. Some modern machines are ultra-sophisticated with realistic HD graphics and incredible 3D effects, but sometimes you just want […]

    • I used to own the NES but I don’t remember playing with it often as a kid, I think it may have been broken lol

    • Same here that was my generation too. I remember at school everyone had a different colored gameboy SP

    • SNES is where it’s at!

      • SNES is nice platform if you want to try this console I strongly recommend this game tactics ogre let us cling together ( tho we just met lmao)

    • Personally, I would recommend ditching retro consoles in favor of newer consoles that support retro games. You’re going to have a more inconvenient time finding games for a retro console, generally because games for those older hardware tend to cost more.

For instance, the Wii U, despite being seen as a failure in the gaming industry, is actually pretty good. You can play Wii U games (especially games that have been ported to the Switch, and they’re cheaper than the Switch ports), and you also have access to the Virtual Console where you can buy older games like NES games, SNES games, etc. And similarly, the 3DS (which can play DS and 3DS games) has its own Virtual Console with NES games, SNES games (for New 3DS only), etc. Those consoles, in my opinion, are the best ways for modern gamers to play retro games; no need to purchase old hardware and physical games for that old hardware.

    • There have been good games made with these brands and i hope it stays that way!

    • It’s usually about licensing, that’s really the simple answer. And these types of games tend to be quite frequent when they appear in media; for instance, if there’s an upcoming movie about Batman, you can probably expect some video game about Batman as well (and it goes beyond just games; pop entertainment influences toys like action figures, Happy Meals and other restaurant chain kids toys, and more).

There’s a lot of mutualism in licensing, where various parties benefit by amassing a bigger audience.

  • People love diversity; it is almost as if we crave it like a much-deserved chocolate bar. We have incorporated diversity into every aspect of our live. And gaming is no different.

When it comes to gaming, […]

    • Social games on fb can be fun but it can be annoying seeing your friends notifications all the time

    • I feel kind of the opposite about social games today. In the 90s, social games used to be about meeting with people in real life and using game cables to play with friends, even talking with each other face-to-face; it was probably “more social” than it is now. But nowadays, people just hop online (with real life friends) and play games together, barely communicating with each other; at least that’s how it felt for me playing Facebook games in the early 2010s. Even smartphones haven’t captured the social aspects of the 90s. Social games today might be an evolution for those inconvenienced with trying to meet up with people in real life, but I see social games going downhill from what it used to be.

  • These days, it is not uncommon to find gamers abandoning their consoles and opting for PC gaming. After all, there are several advantages to doing this. Not only is it a more economical option, you will also find […]

    • Great tips usually I play games on console but these tips will come in handy if i ever make a permanent switch to PC

    • I am just switching between the two, i don’t really want to settle down with just one.

    • I don’t think anybody should (completely) switch from console to PC. You can still get the best out of both devices; just play console and PC games interchangeably.

But maybe if you’re on a budget, you might decide on a PC, and maybe the biggest decision factor is that PCs have more games, so you opt for a PC. There are tons of PC games that have controller support, so you can still get the “console experience” by using a controller with a PC. There’s not a whole lot that’s radically different with a PC; if anything, a PC is just a “gaming console” that can do more things than an actual gaming console (more input devices for mouses, keyboard, etc., more general-purpose uses like browsing the Internet, and more versatility for many other things).

  • Gaming has come a long way over the past few years; the graphics have vastly improved, the controllers are more responsive, and the sound is more immersive and realistic. However, some avid gamers are still […]

    • Virtual Reality is probably the most immersive type of experience you can get out of a game

    • The experience comes more immersive when the player has to move physically, i mean it feels that you are doing more than just sitting holding a controller.

    • Peripheral controllers are kind of cool. Probably not as cool as it used to be, like back in the NES era when there was a huge craze over the NES Zapper (used for Duck Hunt), but you can still have fun playing with more-modern peripheral controllers of today, plus the technology for peripheral controllers today is generally better than the technology of 30 years ago.

Haptic feedback, on the other hand, is an amazing piece of technology. Whether it’s HD rumble of the Switch Joy Cons, the Taptic Engine of Apple’s smartphones, or the haptic feedback of DualSense controllers, that piece of technology really does add in an extra flavor of immersion since the games are responding to you physically.

    • Wasn’t aware you could change the color of your name. Thank you for this guide

    • This is a good thing to keep in mind if you want to change your name color!

    • It’s pretty cool to change name color in Minecraft, but I think name colors were really intended for command-block creations (like for custom-made mini-games such as Ultra Hardcore and Survival Games, for adventure maps, etc.) and especially for multiplayer where you might designate players to teams or designate each player their own individual color. The ability to use the scoreboard command is quite convenient, because previously, you would have to either use a mod or a plugin to achieve that.

    • Interesting read, I didn’t know men gamers were more prone to take risks compared to women

    • When there’s an option to choose a gender, people attend to go with their own gender as the character’s gender.

    • Might be most relevant on a “general population” level, but on an individual level, everyone has their own gaming behavior since every individual is different. I think where gender impacts gaming behavior has largely to do with how societies are structured, and it probably even varies country to country. I do wonder how gaming behavior would vary when comparing developed countries with an already-large gaming population (such as the U.S., Japan, South Korea, Great Britain) to developing countries with a growing gaming population.

    • I also heard video games are good for your cardiovascular system

    • These are some quirks that gamers attend to have. Very good list!

    • I think it’s a bit misleading to say that “video games” are practical teaching tools for surgeons, drivers, drones/pilots, etc. and also dismiss the fact that there are video games that can cause people to act violently or create bad habits, because video games encompass a field of various genres (fighting, RPG, shooter, simulation, etc.). Every game caters to a different audience, and not all games can build skills or make people behave a certain way.

Rather, I think it would make more sense for this article to focus on simulation games, instead of video games as a whole, because it’s (most likely) simulation games that can help build skills for surgery, driving, piloting, etc. Let’s face it; you’re probably not going to become an excellent driver playing GTA V.

Also, I’m a bit skeptical on the statistics, particularly the surgical skills statistics. It just shows percentages. Doesn’t show the sample size, like out of how many participants were evaluated, so if the actual statistics was something like “eight out of nine participants agreed that video games helped them attain a certain skill”, the other way of saying that would be “roughly 89% of participants agreed video games helped them attain a certain skill”, and something like that could be very misleading, because you’ll have such a small sample size. Moreover, what game(s) did the participants play to contribute to the statistics, because that’s also kind of important? And furthermore, the sources backing up the statistics aren’t necessarily credible websites (especially when most of the sources are .com sites skewed towards opinions); it would make more sense to have a peer-reviewed journal focused on the field of psychology discussing findings rather than an amalgamation of sources mixed with opinions and pseudo-facts.
