  • Sports video games have come a long way. The genre which began with two bats sliding up and down in Pong has evolved to give us games which bring to life every last aspect of sporting events, with astoundingly […]

    • A controversy over tattoos in a video game? There was literally a controversy over an emote in Overwatch so this isn’t something that surprises me.

  • Most people stay indoors since the coronavirus outbreak in China. With this, many are working online to continue earning despite the depressing situation. Still, others are looking for ways to keep themselves […]

    • Pretty much all video games are being played more because people are stuck in their homes.

    • It’s kind of hard to believe that China would have increase mobile game downloads (in the millions) considering they have one of the strictest governments in the world which pretty much bans most of the Internet; plus Huawei phones (which uses HarmonyOS) dominates most of mainland China which I’d imagine would have less compatible apps. But considering the sheer size of China in terms of population (~1.4 billion people), it would seem reasonable to expect millions of game app downloads.

  • Before online gaming hit the mainstream, Local Area Network (LAN) parties were the ultimate multiplayer gaming experience. Sure, these days the online world offers countless ‘better’ ways to entertain our […]

    • Starcraft has become a very popular RTS game series.

    • It’s the gameplay that makes a game fun to play, not the graphics even though they can improve your experience.

    • Might as well add Minecraft for games to play with a local area network; I consider Minecraft to be the best game you could possibly play on LAN. When I was at school, people in computer labs would often connect to LAN servers in Minecraft and it was often fun playing with people we already knew, collaborating to build things together, or downloading and playing some of the earliest battle royale / PvP survival maps like Survival Games or The Walls 2. Far better experience than many other LAN games in recent memory.

  • Fantasy sports keeps getting bigger, better, more accessible, and lucrative with each passing day! Have you tried out fantasy sports yet? You are missing on a whole lot of opportunities to not only have fun but […]

  • The expansion of the online world has seen the growth of several income making platforms. While most people consider online video gaming as a pastime, you can turn it into a money-making venture. Nothing sounds […]

    • You can make videos about video games, stream you playing video games or even make video games yourself. It’s up to you to decide if you want to venture to the world of video games and do more than just playing them.

    • Twitch and YouTube are pretty good, though YouTube is a bit weird with it’s monetization restrictions. I think if you produce video content on YouTube and you’re just a small creator, the best way to earn income is looking for sponsors (like Honey, Raid Shadow Legends, NordVPN, SkillShare, Audible, etc.). A lot of times, you can just stick referral codes and whenever someone buys something, you earn a portion of the total income which is better than nothing. Plus I think videos with sponsors are less intrusive, and more people will see them since a lot of people use AdBlock these days.

  • Online games have been around for a long time and the history of online games is filled with changes as they have developed over the years to suit various different societies and generations of different players […]

    • Virtual reality and augmented reality are things to follow.

    • Enhanced graphics seem to be significant, and I think it goes along with advanced technology. Like if you go to the 8-bit era, hardware was limited and you could only create so little. Nowadays, you have game engines and graphics engines that help developers create enhanced graphics, better GPUs, and new innovations such as ray tracing. Even virtual reality is the result of advanced technology, going from the virtual boy to more advanced VR.

  • Other than social media, music and video streaming services, online games are the most common source of entertainment across all age groups. In the current age of the internet, the online gaming industry has taken […]

    • Multiplayer games attend to have a lot of replayability.

    • There are tons of online games out there that you can’t really go wrong with any of them. Usually what a player enjoys is up to preference, and I think narrowing down genres is a great way to give players an idea of what games they might enjoy.

  • They say the video games industry is inevitably becoming a “New Hollywood”. The budgets for game development increase annually, the expends of their marketing departments increase, and the entertainment has alr […]

    • You should expect long working hours work in the gaming industry. When working on a game with a deadline, crunch time is something that can take place which isn’t great for developers.

    • Getting into the gaming industry really depends on what you want to create; just keep it reasonable so that it’s something that you can accomplish. Oversaturation isn’t too big of a deal as long as what you create ends up feeling unique. And it’s not too difficult to get into the gaming business, if you start out as a hobbyist looking to work with other hobbyists until you find success, plus creating games as a hobby is a sure way to make your resumé look good. Otherwise, if income is a priority, freelancing is another thing to consider, and there are lots of places good for freelancing such as Fiverr or Patreon; like maybe you enjoy creating pixel art, but you can’t find a team to work with, so then showcasing some of your work and letting developers and game companies find you could be a great entry into the gaming industry.

  • Move over Jerry Jones, the Ogre is going to take over the most well known franchise in sports! Dallas has had some great talent over the years despite not winning the big one in decades. In fact, Dallas has only […]

    • Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a game you should play if you like animals and the idea of having animals as your neighbors on a deserted island.

    • Most of these games, I’ve never even heard of. When I think of animals, I tend to think Spore, Neopets, Pokémon, Animal Crossing, and Pet World.

  • It’s hard to argue that a video game sequel has enjoyed quite as much global renown and success as Street Fighter II enjoyed in the early nineties.

Not only did Capcom’s hugely popular fighting game kick sta […]

    • Street Fighter II influenced many fighting games so it’s not surprising to see it do well even now.

    • I guess Street Fighter II was cool then, but I don’t see a whole lot of comeback for this game unless people hold tournaments like they do with Tetris and other classic games. I think newer installments like Street Fighter V: Champion Edition will remain Capcom’s future for the series.

    • She has changed a lot since 1996. It’s interesting to see how she will change in future.

    • Kind of a cool protagonist, especially when early video games didn’t really have many female protagonists. Sure, you had Samus from Metroid, but there weren’t many other female protagonists around toward the millenium.

  • The digital revolution is progressing at a rapid pace, we’ve become so reliant on technology in our everyday lives. It’s shaped the way we eat, keep fit, watch TV, communicate and travel.  As one of the most rece […]

    • Live streaming Esports is a core part of it and that’s why those viewer numbers can go so high.

    • I feel like live streams are the common and easiest tactic to gain popularity in this genre. It would be weird to attend an esports event just to watch it at that event, when you could watch it at the comfort at your own home.
