ogreman wrote a new post, Improving the Quality of Gaming on Your Mobile Device 6 years, 1 month ago
Thanks to the brilliance of mobile phone makers, we can now use our mobile devices to visit online sites such as cashmio and play games. However, while all mobile devices especially smartphones and tablets do […]

I hope that the quality of mobile games will improve.
-
I think the biggest solution to improving performance and quality of a mobile game is simply upgrading to newer hardware (for example, ditching that old smartphone from 2014-2016 for a newer smartphone from 2021), because that’s where you’ll see drastic difference. The lifespan for a smartphone is like 5-6 years, and it’s a bit uncertain how long newer smartphones will last.
Otherwise, if you’re stuck with the hardware you have, there’s not really a whole lot you can do other than to deal with certain trade-offs. For instance, maybe a game runs slowly, so the trade-off is to go into settings and change graphics to low just to increase performance (and maybe even battery). Or if space is an issue, delete apps (and media like photos) that you don’t use so then you have room for other apps/games. Personally, I would just get a better phone than to deal with these sort of trade-offs.

ogreman wrote a new post, The Pros and Cons of a Gaming Chair 6 years, 1 month ago
A gaming chair is a unique chair specially designed with gamers in mind. Inspired by racing car seats, a gaming chair is tailor-made to provide added comfort during short and long gaming hours. The chair comes […]

Gaming chairs are made to be comfortable and they can have some utility on them sometimes besides the ways to set the chair itself.
-
What is the usual price range for a good gaming chair?
-
They usually go from around 100 dollars up to 1000 dollars.
-
True enough !
-
-
-
I think the health benefits of a gaming chair are too minimal. It’s still a good idea to get out of any kind of chair (even a gaming chair) every 20 minutes or so and take a break, maybe even stretch around. Plus when you do get up, you can focus on other health benefits like reducing eye strain by looking at things far away instead of being glued to a screen.
Also the buying process of a gaming chair isn’t too bad when you consider the long-term results. You’re getting a premium chair that’ll remain durable for more years than your average chair. Compare that to office chairs that have “faux” leather that begin to chafe due to constant friction, which is problematic when you play games for long hours, and (aside from having to clean your room because of leather falling everywhere) you either have to repair the leather or replace the office chair which can cost a lot (especially if the chair is out of warranty). A gaming chair, even though the price may seem daunting at first, will last a lot longer than an office chair and you won’t have to worry as much about maintenance.

With so much disconnect from the real world due to lockdowns, I think this is a good reminder of activities you can enjoy with friends when things start to get back to normal. And especially when it comes to games, there are activities you can do with friends like play co-op multiplayer games, play LAN multiplayer games, or play physical games like tabletop and board games.

India is a huge country, when you really think about it: Over 1.3 billion people. Plus it’s one of the countries with a growing tech industry (IT, chip manufacturing, etc.), especially competing against other countries like China, which consequentially is probably influential in the growth of other related industries like the gaming industry.

Kind of bizarre to mention games in this article saying that they’ll be available on the PC, Xbox, or PlayStation, while having a picture of a Switch as the main image in this article. Doesn’t seem like the Switch gets enough treatment.
Anyway, of those four games, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is actually available on the Switch. In fact, it was released worldwide (for Microsoft Windows, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on October 5, 2018), so not sure why the Switch platform wasn’t even mentioned.

Sometimes it’s a good idea to just upgrade to a new computer. I’ve had games lag pretty badly just from having a browser run in the background, and that’s kind of a reason I’ve switched from Chrome to Firefox. But then after prolonging the use of an older computer, there does come a time when a computer needs to be either replaced or upgraded to better hardware.
Also, while people might tell you to use Ctrl + Alt + Del to access task manager, I find it more convenient to use Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open task manager since it’s more direct. Plus, you don’t have to worry about your computer hanging (becoming unresponsive) on the Graphical Identification and Authentication screen.

I am not really into game trainers myself, but some people might be.

In this sort of topic, I think it’s important to research the terms and conditions for a game, because some game developers might not want people to use it, and it’s usually made explicitly clear in their terms and conditions by mentioning words like “third-party program” and “prohibited”. So that’s something to consider.
But I think it’s generally fine for single player experience games. But personally, I find games more enjoyable, when you actually earn your progress through gameplay.

Never would have expected Finland to have such a growth in the gaming industry, especially considering it’s not as populous as other countries in Europe. But now thinking about it, Scandinavia as an entire region (Norway, Sweden, and Finland) would kind of be a good spot for the gaming industry, especially since you have Mojang in Sweden which is a country that borders Finland. Plus when it comes to tertiary education, Finland does have AMKs (polytechnics) with engineering being the most common field of education, so it’s not a huge surprise if there’s a gaming industry boom in Finland.

Super Mario 64 is a pretty good game for its time and the speedrunning community is very large and active.
Playing games for the nostalgia is fun. Sometimes you end up comparing them to current games of today
Some old games are used as an example to make new games and get inspiration from.
They’re certainly fun games even today, especially when these games are seeing re-releases whether they’re remade with more modern graphics (e.g. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening [Switch remake]), released as bundles/collections (e.g. Super Mario 3D All-Stars), or released as part of an online subscription (e.g. classic games offered through Nintendo Switch Online).
