This is the sixth match of GameOgre.com’s MMO Showdown 9.  This annual tournament determines the best MMORPG out of 16 games. The winner will be named MMORPG of the Year. GameOgre.com also has a Prediction Contest for forum members each year for a $10 Game Card or $10 of Riot Points.

RuneScape

As the first round of MMO Showdown 9 gets closer to the end, this match pits two very different games with extremely huge communities. RuneScape is a Free MMO pioneers and is one of the most reviewed games on GameOgre.com.  RuneScape has had many updates and  changes over the years that have helped to keep it above most other games in the industry for years. Minecraft has also had a good history of updates and pioneering a niche. However, Minecraft requires a one-time buy while RuneScape is free to start playing. Minecraft is also under new management recently as Microsoft has purchased Mojang. That said, don’t be surprised to see this match go either way as both are strong games with passionate communities.

  3. Didnt play any of these games a long period but I voted for minecraft. Renescape got better graphic but the unique gameplay from minecraft is awesome, and I really like to watch minecraft streams.

  6. Minecraft the little indie game that turned into one of the most valuable video game IPs in the world vs RuneScape, one of the original MMORPGs and one that really kicked off browser gaming. At this point Minecraft gets the nod in my opinion. It’s more of what I want, I love the endless mod support and freedom.

  8. I’ve been playing runescape since 2008 and I still enjoy it. I like minecraft too but once you built everything and you have like 1000 diamonds, it gets really boring. Runescape still has thousands of people playing after almost 15 years.

  9. Minecraft is one of my favorite indie video games developed by Mojang.And Runescape is one of better mmorpgs but this time I will choose minecraft cuz I like playing it and making my creatures and houses with my friends 🙂

Runescape is way better, sorry no arguements there, minecraft is sad excuse for a sandbox and the content it had added suggests it isnt a sandbox, so it’s an adventure game that you can build in, in other words play conan, you wanna fight bosses and quest play runescape, minecraft is for unimaginative adult children who suck at video games
