Comment: The best online game I have ever played (and trust me I have played a lot of them). An amazing number of quests,classes armor,weopans, and spells. Paying to become a Guardian is defientely worth it and the community is great. Even if your a free player theres plenty to do. There is a server cap unless your a Guardian but its not as bad as people say.The graphics are great. There are tons of storylines including the Devourer Saga which has a total of 64 quests.Plus a new quest or war every week. One of the greatest games ever

Comment: This game brings back so many memories. It was(Not so sure about now) one of the best online games ever. I loved it so much, I bought a membership and I was not disappointed. I loved how you could upgrade your guy and gets pets, etc. The battle system itself could have been a bit more interesting because you just click a button and watch your guy attack and then watch your enemy attack and repeat steps. The classes were great as well because there was soooo many choices. The community was quite helpful as well. When I went to the forums and asked a question, I was politely answered by a few people. There was also several guides that helped me out. The thing is though, if you didn't have a membership, you could barely play because the server was always overloaded with players. Their weekly updates were awesome too. You would play for a week and not finish everything from the previous update and then another update would come. It's like a never ending playtime. Sometimes they did get lazy with some of their monsters because like the bosses would just be one of the random monsters you run into but stronger. But overall, if you've got money to spend, spend it here because you'll have fun for a long time.

Comment: Really, the only downside to this game is the huge subscription fee, for such a small game. But let's get down to the nitty-gritty.

Story - Basically, you're a random adventurer that arrives in the world of Adventure Quest, with a town called Battle On as your main hub. It's been done before, and it's a little off putting. You always start the game here every time you log in.

This game is surprisingly light on story. There are plenty of sub stories and small plots that take place as you adventure out into the world, but most of them are pretty dull and easily overlooked. I found myself skipping most of the cut scenes.

There are a few notable characters, such as Artix himself appearing as a noble paladin, and a few of the areas are at least fun to explore. But once again, this game is light on story. You won't find much in that department.


Graphics - The graphics in this game are pretty much what you'd expect from a Flash game. Most of the models are hand drawn, but the majority are computerized...or whatever you'd call it. They are pretty bland and expressionless, as the cut scenes offer no facial expressions, and the character models move like sticks. Literally, their limbs rarely move, and they're almost always stuck in their signature "pose", if you will.

The combat graphics (for your character at least) are pretty good. When you attack, it actually looks like your character is attacking. Spells look decent, but they still retain the MS Paint look. The weapons are imaginative and have decent designs, most notable are the Guardian only weapons.

The armor also looks great, with some unique ideas implemented into them. But again, the hand drawn aspect is still there. It's not to say that they didn't do a good job, but for a game that offers an optional subscription fee, at least update them.


Gameplay - Gameplay is pretty bland. If you've ever played a turn-based RPG, you'll feel right at home here. There aren't any "random encounters" per se, but as you quest on random adventures, enemies will usually block your path.

Once you enter battle, you're given a few options: either attack, cast a spell, use an item, change your armor, weapons, etc. It's uninteresting, but it works well, as it offers no unique takes on the RPG.

In the hub town, there is a Battle Monsters button, which immediately pits you against enemies around your level for some quick grinding. Enemies rarely drop any loot, and all you're rewarded for your efforts is a measly amount of gold and exp. If you're lucky you'll pick up a few Z tokens (an alternate currency used for Guardians to buy specific items), but those are few and far between.

The grind in this game gets terrible at the later levels. It sometimes takes hours to get a couple levels, and once you hit level 60, it gets even worse from there.

The items you can buy, at earlier levels, are pretty cheap and have the basic concepts in mind. Fire based weapons, water based armors, etc. But as you progress, the items become increasingly more expensive. And what little gold the normal enemies offer, it's almost a given that you have to quest for some loot.

Each enemy you encounter has weaknesses. You can check what element they're weak against, check their stats, and even how much gold and experience they give. If you encounter an enemy with a weakness to Water, you'd better hope you have a weapon or spell of that type, or it's going to be a long fight. It's almost cheating in a way, but it does help dumb down the grinding a little.


Quests - Quests in this game are imaginative, but still the same basic format for an RPG. You might go save a maiden, crawl around in a dungeon, or fight hordes of enemies to get a prize at the end. All quests have no level requirement whatsoever (barring the Class quests), but it is highly recommended to level up quite a bit before taking them on.

Other Stuff - The fan base for Adventure Quest is actually quite large. The community was very nice and helpful, offering me tips and strategies (what little there were, at least) on how to do quests, get loot and experience quickly, and what items to buy and what not to buy.

Their optional membership fee is a little steep for a game this small. And being the lightheaded fellow I am, I ponied up the dough. Guardianship offers a few extras, and you can quest where free players can't, and you even get your own server. But this game is and isn't a MMORPG. You don't encounter other players while you adventure. It's purely single player.

Well, as a final score, I'd give this game a 4. It's pretty bland and uninteresting, and doesn't offer anything new, and doesn't improve on the old bits.

Very disappointing and the support staff doesn't give jack about the players, rejecting their suggestions outright or putting them on the backburner for all to see. After playing up to lvl 55, the game keeps on giving you the message that you can't log in to play at all. In other words, the game is only free until lvl 55, might be less for some others. Players who do not pay are not able to get certain benefits like getting full class advantages. In all cases, they can only benefit from those classes up to the 5th lvl rather than the 10th lvl that is being given to those who paid for it. I.e. Guardians.

Having paid for it, you discover that the game is not as interesting as it sounds from the inside. No matter how much you upgrade, you discover that the game has insanely powerful opponents that you cannot beat without resorting to drinking potions and you cannot buy potions in this game. The only way to recover health points other than drinking potions is to get pets or guests that can heal you overtime which is quite difficult unless you are paying for it.

The amount of gold and experience that you obtain from defeating the monsters is not worth the trouble to go over killing those monsters in the first place. The Forum Moderators are the worst of the entire group. They delete your messages, treat you like crap and ban you for the slightest mistake under the guise that this is the policy of the top management. If I had known they were like this beforehand, I would never have begun playing AdventureQuest.

AdventureQuest is only free until you have played it to higher levels. Once you reach those levels the server locks you out automatically citing "too many players are logged in at the moment". Now the game is not being updated with regards to the players' wishes including those who paid for it because Warpforce is now available.

For example:- The Humans only option for the players is being expanded to the Drakels, Elves and Humans in Warpforce but not within AdventureQuest. If players request Moglins in the game as PCs, they would most likely appear in a version that the players would have to pay for.

Overall, this game is turning into a complete disappointment despite its earlier promises on being an "interesting", "innovative" and "free" game for the players. It cannot compare with Ragnarok Online, FF, Everquest or World of Warcraft.

1. Storyline - Good, funny and witty. Could not stop laughing at the story and events taking place.
2. Graphics - Good artwork. Love it.

Cons

1. The number of items in the menu is limited to 8 which includes all temporary items such as spells, pets, weapons and armour. In actuality, the player only has 7 of his items to choose from at any one time from the total number of items possessed which can be much higher.

2. Cannot change the order of items, pets, weapons and armours in which they are bought. This is terrible because player has to resell and re-buy those items just to change the order of items in the menu.

3. Vamp and Lycan armour cannot be upgraded beyond level 10 which makes it useless at higher levels. Also the player who turns into a Vamp or Lycan is not as powerful as the Vamp or Lycan that they were forced to fight. Vamp or Lycan opponents were able to do massive damage as well as steal massive health points from the player but the player was only able to do miniscule amounts in return.

4. Werepyre armour is even worse because it cannot be upgraded at all. I traded it for the Healing Pants since it automatically regenerates regardless of whether the attack was launched with the weapon's special attack or not. Werepyre form's regeneration only worked on the second attack and was much less than the Healing Pants' regeneration.

5. The player is limited to being human in this game. Cannot be Moglin, Drakel, Elf, Dwarf or any other race that you encounter in the game.

6. Pets and guests tend to do little or no damage when the player does moderate to massive damage to the opponent.

7. Subrace quests like Vamps and Lycans are impossible to complete without upgrading to Guardian Account.

8. Current sweep of monsters, NPCs, pets and items will make it more difficult for the player to defeat the monster since a lot of items and abilities will be downgraded.

9. The player cannot have more than one pet attacking the monster even though the player has more than eight pets in inventory.

10. Server cap reduces access to the game being played for free despite the game being promoted as a free game.

11. Experience and Gold caps limit the amount of experience and gold a player can obtain in a single gaming session.

Comment: I find this game very fun. It has cool cartoon-like animation and tons of quests and classes and even clans. There are hundreds of monsters, armors, shields, pets, spells, items, and weapons. You can get a house and guards and items for it. Plus to upgrade the game it is a one time payment of $20. It is much cheaper than RuneScape. For $20 you can play RuneScape as a member for 3 months or AdventureQuest for more than 80 years!!! I find only 3 cons to the game. 1. You can't always log in unless you are a guardian(member) 2. You don't walk around (which I don't even care about) and 3. It is sort-of hard to get Z-Tokens which allow you to buy the house and it's stuff and powerful weapons/items. I give this game an 11/10 (even though you can rate as high as 10)

Comment: It's awesome. The graphics are the best of any browser based game I've seen thus far, and the amount of quests and things you can do is almost overwhelming. It does become a grind after a few levels, but you'll love the game anyway.

It's got a great theme, the story is humorous but serious, and the weapons and armor go beyond what you think.

A downside, the payment option is a little overboard, but it's still there for those who are serious about this game.

I give this game a 9. Almost perfect.

Comment: This is the first graphic MORPG I've played, and while the focus is purely combat, there are no real "wanderings" you can do, the game is clever enough to NOT sell any healing potions at all. You get 2-per day and once those are gone, unless you're a fantastic battler, you're going to have a lousy play.

As far as the graphics go, it's one shade edge less than the best Flash graphics you can get. Sound is minimal, no background music, geez, even MIDI would be great guys. Sound effects are pretty tame too. The biggest advantage I've seen in this game is TONS of help. It's really for absolute beginners and it's nice the way they lead you by the hand to show you how to play everything in it.

There are sub-quests, however, once again, it is just a series of concentric combat rounds with lots of creative and animated baddies. The biggest advantage I've seen thus far, having tried out some other MORPGs is combat is TYT (Take-your-time). I was never very good at action games and it's nice to find one that gives you all the blessed time to make your move in combat.

You can send in real money to them and they'll up your stats, however, since the focus is purely combat, it's more like a combat engine than a real RPG where you can wander. Haven't seen the ability to communicate or even see other players in the game, which is a pretty big minus for fleshing out a MORPG.

going to give it a high rating though since, as the first one I've tried, it's a very strong contender in the field of MORPGs.

*Weekly updates
*Some battles take a lot of strategy or luck to win.
*Tons of classes
*Hundreds of items
*Name your character anything, as its "Massively Singleplayer" so two players having the same name doesn't make a difference.
*The saga's are fun especially if you manage to join right at the beginning of them.
*House system with player estates which ends up being fun if you have the tokens to dish out for the estate/buildings.

Cons:
-Weekly updates get more repetitive each week, at this point it seems like a new war either every week or every other week...
-Free players don't get very much content.
-Battle's are slow on top of being repetitive.
-Z-tokens are horribly overpriced at $60 for 15,000 which don't end up lasting very long, luckily they can be earned in battles and from selling off the interest on your house though.

Overall it's a fun game to at least give a try, I guardianized about a week after joining which was around four years ago and for the most part the game has gotten better since then, but like in the cons section a new war starts almost every week which can get boring really fast.

Look, I don't believe it : one time I tried to log in my level 70 character and they friggin said the server is full with 5000+ players online, so I got out of the site and decided to come back a few minutes later since I can't play... Later on, WTF! 10500+ players online in just a few minutes?!! This is all a lie! It's just them pulling your leg to make you pay $15 for that crappy guardianship! Hate me if you like, but trust me, I've played this game and this ain't worth of your money and time. I even have a friend who hacked this game and all the guardian weapons and armors aren't even accessible even if he hacked to be a guardian! they must have put some security just for you to pay them! PLAY THIS ONLY IF YOU ARE BORED AND HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO DO! 2/10

Comment: I like this gam for the most part, i dont like that i have to b a guardian to be able to use all the skills of my lvl 10 fighter bt meh it is free so i dont care toooooo much lol.

Graphics dont matter to me (Elder Scrolls 3 is easily my most favortie rpg ever).

I think the fighting is fine :D. But monsters that dodge 80% of my attacks when ALL of my stats exceed theirs is annoying, and the z token thing is optional so stop crying lol.

Comment: This game is good...in a way. It is WAY to easy to level up, the monster knowledge and strategies are dumb to SPED, and the graphics are pretty cartoony, but it is fun in a way.

Your character, with shiny new armour and swords and stuff, looks pretty buffed out like an anime teenager on steroids, which is pretty cool. The game developers update the game like every week, which is awesome as well, meaning they can keep on top of bugs (if there were any), etc.

I like games that are online, and I reckon this would be good for a multiplayer online game (MMO), but i am pretty impressed. I heard a lot of things about the game, they were all negative, but this has "smited" those bad reviews and given them a rightful bashing. This game is good for all ages, and I recommend everyone try it before they knock it off.

(P.S. The game offere a "guardian" upgrade, which is only a one-time fee, which I am impresed with. A one-time fee is awesome, I never upgraded though I was saving up for another WoW game card :P).

Comment: I like the game as a whole.I played for several weeks before becoming an x-guardian. And didn't really ever die. I was smart enough to run away if a monster to strong for me appeared.

Like all sites, it is free. There are just additional perks if you decide to pay a 1 time fee. Seriously, if you've logged in more than 40 hours, than why not upgrade? You pay more for a final fantasy game, which once you've beaten it it's beaten type of deal. This site continues to grow, and and come out with new things.

I think several of the 'complaints' mentioned are so minor, that it's kind of petty to have given such a low review over it. How on earth does sound affect the game play? Just turn off your speaker, and turn on the radio. Seriously.

It's major flaw, is it does get boring occasionally, I'll admit. Not right away, at least for me. It was rather addicting, then just over time, I just lost some interest.
So you put it down, go elsewhere, and come back another day a month later. And you have new things to see. Which is what I am currently doing, and there are some nice new features, since lat time I played.

I don't buy z-tokens. Especially when they are randomly obtained by regular battling. I don't think they give enough for the price you pay. These are virtual items, so I'd rather keep my real money with me.

i myself am free, and i survive perfectly fine, because i use a guide in the forums to help me, using that, there arent that many guardian advantages for me now, except for that sometimes i can't login, and thats the only major problem for free players, and lets face it, $20 one-time fee for guardianship isn't that much is it? Compared to other games which have monthly fees, cough cough, runescape, cough cough... this game is actually quite addictive for me, and the only two bad things i can think of is the login problem, the occasional grinding (for some reason though, the grinding in this game is like maplestory grinding, strangely addictive...) and the face you can't walk around (actually i dont even care about that one)

All in all, this is a great game for what it is (browser)its 2D btw (so get lost all you stupid people who only care for graphics)

Comment: Please, do not play this game! It may seem fun for the first 10 minutes, but it will only get extremely repetitive and boring afterwards. The site is desperate to get you to become a guardian, which is a one time payment $15. It isn't worth the money, unless you have a lot of time on your hands. The game will lie about the server being full after you log in a few times, and it will tell you that if you become a guardian you can play even if the free server is full. It's just a scam to get you to buy, honestly. So please, do NOT play this game! Even Runescape is better than this. (And no, my username doesn't come from Battleon's Artix)

Comment: ok there are a million wepons and armor but graphics are terrible. Then there are classes which are nearly impossible to get to lvl 10 without getting the X-Gaurdian Upgrade. Then if you are F2P then you cant even get into the server if there is over 10000 players. Runescape has thousands of F2P online above that limit. Runescape sucks but its quest and Jobs make more sense then this sorry game

There are a lot of classes, so what? you don't get to specialize, the skills are either powerless or are basically usual attacks with a different animation, and you must be a guardian to actually enjoy the optimum power of the classes. I'd like to know what "strategy" this game takes, other than the element weakness, which you can easily master by buying a weapon/skill of every element. Comment: This game was... well, interesting. It's a turn based battle system, and has many quests. The bad things are that you can't always get in. They have a server of mabey, 1400 people, members take up 900 of that, and they even get their own server. Not many people can play. Quests get really hard, and the ones that you can acctually complete are the boring, easy ones. Gets very repetitive.

Comment: It's not really action/shooter at all... it is an RPG because you create and develop a character throughout many storylines. Although, true, the server thing is annoying, most of AQ is free. The "become a guardian!!" thing gets old after awhile, but it really is a very indepth game. Plus, with its simple graphics, you can even play it on a super slow connection like dial-up. It's not trying to be WoW. It was started as a very small game and they never expected it to become as popular as it is.

But if you just can't get over the graphics (I mean, look at the old Twilly in the Moglin Forest- horrible!), go play MechQuest or DragonFable.

Also, I don't understand your problem with leveling up. Most people are amazed at how easy and fast it is to level up... I barely play at all and I'm over level 25.

Comment: A cute 2D anime 'action/shooter' game, but most certainly NOT an 'rpg' game. As for being a 'free' game, well after a few days playing as a new free player, you'll get sucked into the 'Adventurer' blackhole where you try to log in the server with little luck. Just a design feature to get you to pay for the 'Guardian or X-Guardian' account. By paying this one time 'fee', you'll get immediate access at log in, and get the 'privilege' to use the best weapons/armor in the game. Also this will unlock areas and quests not available to 'Adventurer' free accounts.
Anyways...I'll finish this review the same way I started it. A cute 'action/shooter' 2D game but NOT worth spending any money on or too much time playing it. Much better FREE and real RPG games available out there to waste time or even money on.

Comment: Just be VERY VERY aware of moderators. In fact, stay off the boards. It is controlled by people who love to be pandered to by sycophantic children. The forums are crippled by over bearing amount of rules and moderators(go check, theres a rule for everything imaginable). I understand the need for boundaries, but its so stifling that clans, clubs (especially 'Approved Clans') are virtually dead.

Contrary to anything written, it IS very easy to upset a mod and find yourself in the Cheater/Abuser/Time Waster Clan.... what they don't tell you, is that they will severely limit your play time (daily experience cap) thats laughable, but they will still take every bit of money for upgrades and tokens off you... its a scam.

There are far far better games out there. Ones that require skill and a bit of challenge. Ones that dont require money to be pumped in (though they innocently say you dont need to pay for things, incl Guardianship - its free). Go ahead, sign up for free AQ and see what happens when the honeymoon period ends; you will very rarely be able to login.

Play D2 if your hard up, wait for Mythos, even play Runescape, but stay away from this white elephant. But if you must, stay away from the forums!

Fighting system should be ungraded first, Not just jump and attack =/ better be techniques and style. -No Role-Playing whatsoever.
-Only two aspects to the game: battle and buying.
-Shallow and weak story, at best.
-Extremely repetitive.
-Forcing players to spend real money in order to access better parts of the game.
-Unoriginal and dull classes.
-The inability to do anything else besides battle and buying.
-Overused anime-style art.
-Very unoriginal monsters. Level 1: you fight rats, frogs and trees. Level 10: levelled up rats, frogs and trees. Level 20: No more trees! Instead, more rats and frogs. Etc...

Very dull game. Somehow managed to fall into the "RPG category". I still wonder how that happened...

The graphics are not the best, but they are improving thanks to our new artists. The gameplay is turn-based, but compared to other turn-based RPGs, I have to say, this has the most interesting plot and best gameplay.

Comment: 1. Adventure Quest is hardly Lunch-Sized anymore. Its growing, evolving and the plot is actually there. Its been much more Plot-Induced than previous years. Much more.

2. While its not the best game, its definately not the worst, the Graphics are getting better. I dare you to look at the old Drakel or the Old monster pictures, and compare them with The Hollow's and ReverendWyrm's Art, both of which just joined in this last year or so.

3. DragonFable and MechQuest, are both farming games, both games come down to one thing, Repeating a quest over and over to gain and or get rewards. DragonFable's plot is getting slightly better, and MechQuest has some plot, but at this point its a mockery to called DF or MQ a better game than AQ, unless you like farming.

4. To some that say AQ is satan or whatever. Umm bias much? The game isn't that bad, just because you can't log onto the servers doesn't make it a bad game. You should be blaming the players of the game for LIKING it so much, rather than blaming the Makers for making such a damn good game.


((Oh and for the record, Guardianship is a ONE-TIME only payment, not monthly.))

I give it a 9, it doesn't get a 10 quite yet, but its a damn good game none-the-less

Cons:
1)>Not much to do(lunchbrake sized)
2)>Has unbalancing issue with some weapons and armours being to expensive or to low price.
3)>Z-tokens, and ability to buy them
4)>Guardian-ship( a pun :p) is expensive for some people, but it"s once a month, so it"s not that bad.
Exemple:World of Warcraft: 15$ a month
Runescape: 5$ a month
Final Fantasy XI: 13$ a month, +1$ per additional character

You know, there"s a way to get in a server without being a guardian, if you keep clicking the "refresh" on the page where it tells you to click it, keep clicking fast and you will get in no matter how many people are on-line

Plus more than half of the things to do require you to be a guardian. To become a guardian it is a one time payment of $15 which is pretty cool. Oh and can anybody please stop saying that when your done attacking your legs slide across the ground because if you weren't blind you would see that he walks backwards.

Comment: Wish I had never paid for x-gaurdianship. The game at first looks like there is a fair amount to do, but in reality everything is just fighting 'monsters' over and over and over again. The various classes are a joke to go through. Leveling up can actually hurt you in playing this game as they level-scale the monsters you fight. Good thing in the battle monsters random thing, but pretty ignorant for quests. You can try a quest and find that the monsters are higher level and you can not beat them. If you go and level up to go back and beat the quest, guess what, they level scaled the monsters so that they are still higher level than you. Moronic. They also sell what they call z-tokens, which is an added type of currency for special items that you can't get with gold. You can get them in the game, but by the time I was level 82 I had accumulated about 3000 total. Not even enough to buy level 40 things in the z-token shop. Buting them is no different than buying a cheat code. (If you need cheat codes, or hacks or macros, for an rpg you are a feeble moron that shouldn't be allowed online.) There is no logical progression to this game.

Like someone else pointed out getting the gold for what they call "uber" items will take you quite some time. And what they call uber is a joke if you look at the stats. They think armour should give you more attacks as opposed to actually armoring you against attacks. Again moronic.

Some of the monsters actually do look pretty cool for 2D, but some look like a kindergartener brought them home for mommy to hang on the refridgerator.

There are some helpful people in the forums, but as usual there are the little idiots as well.

I quit playing runescape at total level 2043 because of the jerks that play it, (and the jerks that own it), and went looking for a single player rpg. Regret that I came across this one.

Comment: I use to love this game, but now its just incredibly old. You have to admit, the graphics have become much better over the years... But still arnt very good. After an attack you basically justslide across the ground... I find that you are basically just using the same moves over and over again tough, and does not take stratergy, mainly blind luck. Getting past lvl 80 can be a huge pain and nearly impossible. I cannot be bothered with this game anymore and have found muh better ones, I give this game a four.

Comment: This is quite a good game but has its bad points.

The system is very repetetive and is just clicking attack a few times, then click battle monsters and attack a few more times. This continues lots. It is a lot more fun if you become a guardian or get to be a high level dragonslayer or something. The enemies are acctually whole lot more interesting.

The money is a bit hard to get and if you have set your eyes on a 250000 gold weapon, forget it unless you are a freak and play for 10 hours a day you will take forever to get to the level you need let alone get the gold.

There is a lot that needs to be done in the way of PvP as there is almost none and without it the game gets a bit dull, as there is only a certain amount you can do with your friends, and that is all talking about your weapons and levels.

Guardianship is possibly a bit expensive but is worth it if you plan to play for a reasonable length of time, as it gives you loads more weapons, skills and places for you to experiment with. It also means that you dont get held back by the stupid capped limit which always gets filled up by guardians so you get to play roughly once a year otherwise.

It could be worked on as it is slightly flat and about as 3d as the stickman i drew last wednesday.

Apart from all these points it is a fairly good game and well worth looking at, but it can take a while. Me and my friend were both level 50 guardians at one point, and decided to race to level 100. This was 3 months ago and neither of us have hit level 80 yet.

So yeah it might not have the best graghics ever but it has so much to do! buy pets to help you out in your fights. Level up to get stronger. of course there are tons of quests. buy weapons,spells and armor. loads of stuff to do and these people only talk about the negative stuff like this graghics or the turn-table battle style and I know its not as good as runescape but someone earlier said that runescape was better because you didnt just click the attack button over and over yet how do you attack in runescape? click on something and...wait.

Comment: This is a good game great actually but I just want to say that all of you who say you can finish this whole game in an hour or two are liers. It would probably take at least two weeks as a guardian to get to lvl 99 in and 10 in every skill and in any mmporg or rpg there is no way you can beat a game in one day. Just make the game a (bit) more creative with the skills and attacks with a slight touch to the graphics and I'll give it a 10!

Comment: I wanted to try this game, so i did. I logged in, choose my name etc. and then i went to fight and some monster named prismix popped out. And i was like: ALT+F4. Here is my opinion about the game:
1.Terrible design

Comment: simple.

what you would expect from a turn-based RPG,only LESS. all there is to do is fight monsters(interesting note: 99% of the time you will encounter an enemy with "zard" in its name.)
The quests, are just monster fighting disguised as something else ex:climbing mountains to get a moglin tribe"s statue back, the mountains however, ARE FILLED WITH MONSTERS YOU MUST FIGHT!
then, it has wars such as the dragon war, drakel war and several others. the wars involve slaying the same monster type over and over again!
there is, however a great variety of equipment, such as the grass blade, magical turkey dip, and water balloon launcher. also, why the heck would an innkeeper keep an ancient weapon of mass destruction in his arsenal?
stat training:when you lv up, you do not get stat bonuses. to gain stats, you must train with a stat trainer and pay him GOLD to raise your stats.
also, i forgot to mention how this game lets you buy your way to winning.you can buy the xboost, which gives NUMERICAL bonuses for around 15 dollars. since this review is long winded, heres what also stinks:no pvp,server cap, community,and humor.

Comment: Adventure Quest is an amazing game.For Guardians and high level people. Adventure Quest is the most lamest game if you like quick action and cant pay attention to something for more then 5 minutes. Adventure Quest is way to in-depth about their fighting and not to much in-depth about anything else. I mean you have to buy a gift from finishing quests instead of just receiving it. This game has high potential. This game is also very easy to hack so if you hate being a low lv just hack it up. Although this game looks bad its a much more fun as you go along.This game is a 10 because I am lv 85 and an X-Guardian and enjoy this game.

More classes than just 3 or 4

Strange battle movement

No job advancements

Well all i can say is that this game is not really that great but if you like flash games then this is it. but if you don't like this game then don't worry there are plenty of other games to play than this one if you are not a flash game fan. so to me, i give this game a 4/10

Unique items
A simple battle system
No evil players attacking you

Cons: No movement (Bad)
Some of the graphics are outdated
Pretty bad sound effects
No music
Can take a while to log in
Not much F2P (Then again, most games are like that)
No PvP
You can't talk to ppl. (Good and bad)

This is more like an escape from MMORPGs that you don't understand. I can't say if it is worth your time and money. It's sort of an escape.

spells are quite decent and there are quite a lot of 'em

the weopens and armour ar ok and look quite different and there definatley enough

levelling- levelling is very boring after about level 10 and i find not very rewarding

this game is pretty good for about 10 minuits a day.
all in all i would say only get this game if you dont want to download an mmorpg and/or you are looking for a game you can spend a little while on for fun

Comment: At first glance, the game is pitiful. It is actually very fun and pretty addicting. It is easy to stop, so you wont be on it for 5 hours a day. It is a good game to play when you are wating for something or just bored. The game Dragonfable is made by the same people and it is considerably better. If you want to invest some money in a game, pay for Dragonfable not adventure quest, even though both are free, gameplay considerably improves after paying.

Comment: This game is somewhat entertaining for a while. Gaurdian membership is now 20 bucks. The main goal of the game is to get you to pay more as you go. To get the best weapons you will have to purchase Ztokens...for real cash. They are ridiculously overpiced. Leveling up takes forever at higher levels. You can level up a little faster if you buy an xguardian membership. Again, for more real cash. Great "Free game" if you have 100 to 200 bucks to blow. But they will get you hooked before you figure that out. Pretty clever.

You only have to pay 15$ once and you are a guardian for your whole life!!! I love this game!!! It would be better if you could talk to other people,be in player created clans, pvp with other players, and fight side by side with another player against a monster or other players. Comment: Adventure Quest is a work in progress I know but, some things do need twecking.
1. Yes, I agree with everyone about the server issue. It's just a way to force you to pay & limiting people stinks!
2. On top of the limit of non-paying players on their free server, if you do get on, you're limited on what you can do. Free players can only reach level 5 & many classes, such as knight & ninja, are forbidden.
3. The combat is slow & clumsy. Yes, it's turn based & I don't mind that but, this need updating.
4. The graphics are not as bad as say Runescape but, it's not WoW. Then again, it never claimed to be. I believe this part of the game will improve with time.
5. Remember please that this is a game best played in small bits.

Comment: It's a game that can actually be kind of fun at first but after a few days, it slows down. Elemental weapons, armors and spells add an interesting strategic element in battles but when you actually launch some sort of attack, the slow animation will have you reaching for your pillow. Also, unless you're a member, you'll get extremely frustrated when you have to wait for people to log off so you can go on. Being able to switch through jobs, learn all of their abilities, then by buying their armors, being able to switch through the jobs and their abilities in battles increases convenience at times but unless you're a member, you won't get a whole lot of the abilities and this upside might seem like a mixed bag. It's an OK game for a while but you won't be satisfied for long.

Comment: This would have to be my favorite online RPG game. For a few different reasons:

1. The game play is excellent! And I"ve been playing for a while, it maybe a little repetitive but it defiantly doesn"t get old with all the new features they bring.

2. The graphics! That"s right, for all you who said this game has bad graphics, I totally disagree. They aren"t bad, they are just made with Adobe Flash, which makes them look kind of like a cartoon, but I am of the opinion that they are well done.

3. Character wise, this game is great. You can choose a class and train for it. Your character in this game is very cool, unlike in RS IMO.

But one thing I must URGE you to do if you like this game, is to become a Guardian. It"s defiantly worth the one time payment. I"ll admit that one valid criticism of the game is that when you"re playing it for free, it totally sucks. But on the bright side, the fee is very inexpensive.

Also, check out DragonFable RPG, from having played it just a little, it seems really cool!

Comment: Adventure Quest turns out to be a pretty good game... if you can manage to log in. Otherwise, you're better off picking your nose. At least that accomplishes something.

Once you log in, though, you will find that Adventure Quest is jam-packed with content. It's not worth the $20 to be able to log in at anytime, though. Not by a long shot.

they are limiting all the things that make this a perfect game to just the gardians, which makes the game, for the non-paying members, a little boring.
the most anoying thing about not having a gardianship is not being able to log in when you whant, ITS SO ANOYING!!
apart from some other insignificant bad bits about the game, i think it is one of the best around.

I never get to play because for some reason the server is always full.It will say all 10000 spots are full, then later all 9000 spots are full. Why decrease the server size? They need to make more than one server at least to let other players on. I can play it for a few mins but then it just gets old. You nearly always miss and its gets pretty lame watching your person hop around and then get killed. Also its a waste of time if you are not a guardian.(which i think is a waste of money XD) But aside from that its amusing for a while. try it if not play another game. good luck if you can log on to play though XD.

Comment: This game is pathetic! The crew who made this game, 'Artix', has to advertise the 'become a guardian today!' all over the site. It's $15, for a 2d RPG that you play by yourself, and you don't even quest... You fight monsters and lose to them 25 levels below yourself. You become a f2p player, and play the game for like 5 plays. Then, all of a sudden, "This server is too full! it's got over 15,000 players on it, so you can't play this game without being a guardian! It's only $15! I mean, WOW! "

So i log out, and at the top it says, "there are currently 2,000 people playing!"

So i log in a second screen, then log into my lvl 30 account, and it says, "there are currently more than 15,000 people playing!" i look on the second screen, and it says there are a little over 2,000 people.... The game lies to you! they HAVE to have more guardians, and the price is ridiculous. YOu can never have another facial expression, and you can never see the back of your head.

I give this a 0, out of 10.

Comment: I thought the game was mildly amusing. Slightly childish, but fun in it s own way. The graphics are decent (asuming they were going for the anime-ish style. The battle system is repetitive yet sometimes fun, but I would like to see some higher levels of damage now that I m almost level 50. However, it annoys me to no end that it is so hard to get potions... you have to level up alot before you can survive anywhere. All in all, the only reason I m not giving this game a higher rating is because there is constant pressure to become a guardian (have a piad account) and if you don t, there might be room on the server for you in the middle of the night- maybe. It s always constantly busy. Very unfair to people who have better ways to spend their money than on a amusing but not excellent game.

Ur battles would go on 4ever if it weren t for that flee or cancel or watever button.It doesn t even make sense and supposedly r suppose to be helping the ppl on there rite?Wrong all ur doing is choosing a side and going to do a certain battle over and over.Magic also sux.U buy the skill then just select it and u send a ball of magic flying at ur opponent.If this were a community game i would ve gave it a 2!U also miss like crazy say ur opponent only has like wat 30 dex and u have a 30 dex or watever skill that allows u to b able to hit them u think ur going to hit rite?Wrong again this game has so many things it needs to work on.It also lags so badly.U play u think its runnig ok.Eventually it starts 2 lag and u say o i ll switch it to medium garphix.It s still lagging.O i think i ll go to low graphix.And it looks real bad.Also they have a ton of ads flying everywhere.

Comment: This game is just plain awful. I would truly prefer to play runescape and i despise that game beyond reason. First of all, the game is supposed to be something you play for a few minutes in your spare time. This isn t true. You can t play for a few minutes because the battles take all year. Also, look around, adventurequest puts ads EVERYWHERE, and they all try to make it look like something its not. "free RPG like World Warcraft" World Warcraft??? there is an OF in world of warcraft!!!! Plus, its nothing like world of warcraft because WoW has a special thing we all love... i cant remember what its called though... oh yeah thats right. a COMMUNITY. you know, one of those things where you can play online with OTHER PEOPLE. this isnt an MMORPG. this isnt even multiplayer. You cant get on and they pressure you to buy a premium account and guess what you get for it.

Comment: Honestly, there is no reason to play this game. This is more like some kind of worse version of a GBA RPG game without all the moving around and actual adventure. The name doesn t even suit it. All you do is click "Random Battle" or Fight Monster" (I forgot) and just click some options of attack. You don t even get to interact with other players in any way. I don t get why they would make it an online game fully aware of this fact. Even something like Neopets is better than this.

Point click point click. Thats all there is too it. I only with there where Minus ratings you could give, but even then I couldnt find a suitable numer, unless MinusInfinity where on there. Just Play Runescape or Endless or Blow your nose or say go shopping with girlfriend many things are better than this game. So if you like Myst stick to Myst if you d rather play this this then...do anything your crazy!

Comment: This is an awesome game and i was lvl 34 before i became a gaurdian and lvl 40 when i became an x-gaurdian. this game is awesome and the only reason people say its too easy and you lvl up too fast is because you play it 24/7, on any game if you play it 24/7 youll be wicked strong!! why cant you realize that? this is the best game ive ever played.

Comment: I ve only played this game a few times and have discovered a few major flaws...

Pros

1. Game is addicting at start.
2. Nice and original classes.
3. Isn t to hard or to easy.

Cons

1. After the first few days that they let you go on whenever... YOU CAN T GET ON AT ALL! There s only one server and unless you are willing to pay.
2. Gets boring... very fast.
3. All you do is kill monsters all the time.
4. It s boring to play alone.
5. Graphics could be better.
6. Bad value overall.

I would only recommend this game to someone who wants to play a game for three days.

Comment: In my opinion Adventure Quest is great. Sure the graphics aren t that great but the games fun with tonnes of items, weapons and armor. At first you can log in no matter what until you ve logged in about 4-5 times. Then it gets hard to log on. But if you pay for it you can get on whenever you want and do a lot more stuff. Its also a 1 time payment unlike runescape. Also once you ve become a guardian (once you ve paid) you can play other games made by Artix Entertainment such as Dragonfable and Archknight. Also in the game you can customize your armor and even create your own weapon. You can have pets fight along side you and there s a lot of different monsters. I would rate it a 10 because its one of the best MMORPGS that I have played that doesn t require a download or a monthly payment. XD

Comment: The name is Krim. I am an ex-moderator from the AdventureQuest boards and what could be considered a legend. This game was a good one, before it was savagely (abused) and the G4 section allowed a whole new species of (players) to overwhelm it. But, I think I was banned before this section. Now why was I banned? A biased, tyrannical staff team, that s why.

Hilarity ensues in massive fits as I pwn everyone on that site and on everything to do with it, affiliates, chats, whatever. This game is way too popular for it s own well-being. One, I could beat anyone there in roleplaying.
Two, I could own any of them in a debate.
Three, I have done both.
What is the point of comparing it to Runescape? Both are established games of different quality and styles.
