Ikariam

Ikariam, brought to you by the German company GameForge, is a real-time strategy-based colonization game where building one's empire is done through a combination of skillful resource harvesting and management as well as a healthy emphasis on pillaging goods from other players. The game is interesting in that it exists in it's own world, part ancient and part modern. Upsides to the game are that it is free to play, with an average learning curve and player oriented elements such as alliances.

Comment: A very good casual game, despite a somewhat harsh learning curve. The use of specialized islands for building cooperation, teamwork, and trading between neighbors makes it much more enjoyable, coupled with the fact that other players cannot take over your colonies. It has a nice battle system, but battles in themselves seem to accomplish very little. Constant updates make Ikariam worth trying out. Overall, Ikariam has a lot of potential, but it's friendlyness and low-stress environment make it a great, rewarding casual browser game.

Comment: This game is weird.Steampunk machines at the period of the Greek-roman wars.You are stuck on a island and it a game with no end game.And when you start,you got only wood to build a building,but the building needs clay,so were's the clay?Dumb game isn't it?

Comment: The game is great in theory, but not in practice. It has great ideas, but the game play isn't that fun, nor are the features good enough to compete with other games in the category.
