jax is a good pick for top lane but suffers from weakish early game, so he can be shut down by champions with strong early game (garen, darius, renekton, riven). he performs best against those who suffer from weak early game like him and/or primarily autoattack (irelia, tryndamare). if you are countered you can always go jungle where you can farm up undisturbed, and your ganks arent bad at all. or you can play defensively and wait for a gank, ganking for jax usually ends up being successful. overall if he is successful early game, he snowballs into the unstoppable killing machine we all know and want to have on our team.
