Community Post-it Wall

Minecraft Bedrock released for Nintendo Switch today and it's rekindled a bit the crossplay attack against Sony. Nintendo put out a tweet today inviting Xbox to play Minecraft with them. Xbox accepted and the Minecraft account chipped in as well. Across them is 20M followers and the tweets have been liked over 30 thousand times... it's great exposure for the issue.

This is the best chance for change to happen, Fortnite and Minecraft are two of the biggest games on the planet right now. Xbox and Nintendo are onboard and pushing the issue themselves. Consumer awareness is probably at an all-time high with frustrated Fortnite players and soon to be frustrated Minecraft players realizing they can't play together because of one company. Hopefully, this all will be enough to force Sony to change their stance.

Been working my way through Ori. It's a very love-hate game. You will die a lot but the level design is very creative and so far always been fair. The art in this game is absolutely stunning, turn off the motion blur and it's just really crisp clear artful design. The music is equally as good. I'm really hoping I don't hit any impossible for me walls because I really want to beat it. Would definitely recommend it for platforming fans, just be prepared to die unless you're good at them.

Finished up Ori! Took about 9 and a half hours and over 500 deaths lol. It was a really great game and am glad I played it even though I don't really like 2d platformers. I'm not gonna play it again though, nor go back for every single collectible lol. The art was just incredible all the way through and the level design is so varied, new surprises until the end. Would definitely recommend the definitive edition as it added a few checkpoints to the harder stuff as well as a great backstory section that lasts about an hour.

My largest annoyance with this game is the downward bash, once you get the ability if you press downwards on the analog stick Ori does a bash straight down... it's really easy to accidentally trigger this at the worst times and then instantly kill yourself on spikes below. Along these same lines is the wall bash, you gotta hold the wall and then aim but if you press up too far you'll sometimes let go into a glide or if you press down too far then you'll go into the downward bash... it's really strange and feels almost buggy for what is an otherwise very polished game. Neither ruin the game though and everything else works beautifully.

10/10 would not play again

Kinda looking for my next single player game. I got a few games going but they're all just stuff you play and not really experience type games. I did play something interesting recently called Late Shift. It's more a movie than a game but with decision making. It was interesting, a bit indie for sure but still pretty well done. It's only an hour long though, I'll probably go back through to see how much decisions actually matter.

Disney's merger with Fox has gotten DOJ approval with the condition they sell off the RSNs. I'm not really a fan of this merger but it's better Disney than Comcast. It's still not a guarantee it's happening yet but this was one of the bigger hurdles. I'm not sure what to think about the RSNs sell-off either, wasn't super keen on it going to ESPN but at least they'd be guaranteed to remain accessible. I just hope someone like Comcast doesn't get their hands on them. Time will tell what all this means for sports viewing.

On the flip side, Fox going to Disney will bring X-Men and Fantastic Four back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fox had some decent hits but mostly didn't do all that well with the property. Hopefully, Marvel can do it justice but one does have to wonder if they have too many projects going already. Still, it would be nice to see both rejoin other major Marvel characters.

Disney would also be getting a controlling stake in Hulu at 60%, Comcast owns 30% and ATT owns 10% via Turner. It'll be interesting to see what it means for the future of Hulu.

This weekend is another F1 race. I've never watched this track before so no clue how it goes but it looks like a fun one. The season has been pretty good so far and no one is out of reach. Really looking forward to the video game in August too.

In gaming news, rumor has it Google may be getting into the console business. It's unclear what exactly they'd be attempting to do but it sounds like it'd revolve around streaming. Honestly, it's hard for me to be excited about this because Google has such a poor track record of following through on its products. An if it is indeed a cloud service, you can kiss all your games goodbye when they quit too. We'll see I guess.

NBA free agency starts tonight! I don't expect much on the first day but it's great that it's finally here! My team doesn't have much to work with so not expecting much but am still curious if some big names will change teams. Should find out over the next week In another sporting news, F1 race tomorrow as well as the 6 hours of the Glen. A great day for racing fans!

NBA free agency has been crazy! I didn't expect this many big deals to get done on the first day. The biggest of which was LeBron going to the Lakers. The rumors were swirling for months and it seemed possible but I really didn't think he'd actually do it. I for one am super happy about this as now he's out of the east and away from my team lol. Will be interesting to see how that turns out.

F1 race was really good. Close all the way to finish. I missed the endurance race... rip. It's still super hot, which really sucks... got a small storm today which helped for a little bit but most of the day was just roasting. Hopefully, the weather will start changing soon.
