Did end up buying F1 2018. It's a little buggy which is disappointing but definitely a refinement over 2017. The driving itself got a massive improvement but everything else is basically more polish. It also seems to run better.

I also tried NBA Live 19 out because of the demo release. Visually it's fantastic, they really did a nice job. In every other area though it's really lacking. It doesn't sound like franchise mode is gonna improve much, on court gameplay is better but still feels a lot like last year. Career mode feels really good, for whatever reason being player locked makes the gameplay much better. It seems to have a decent number of features in the mode as well. Overall though I can't say I really want to buy it over 2k. I hate how grindy and microtransaction heavy 2k is but there is no doubt it plays a lot better.

Nascar Heat 3 will be getting new videos soon. The series has been pretty low budget thus far but they made a good improvement with the second one. If they continued that, 3 should be a solid game. I'm not a big fan of nascar but the game will offer somethings that other racing games just don't touch.

Last, Spider-Man apparently clocks in around 20 hours for the main story and will be around 50GB total. Seems about right for this kind of game and it's already been confirmed they've hidden a lot of stuff around the map so that number should expand a bit for those who are into that stuff.

As expected Nascar Heat 3 looks to be an improvement but it's still very much a budget title. I guess at least it exists.

Nintendo had a Nindie direct today, nothing really stood out to me but Switch will be getting a steady stream of quality Indie games into next year.

Xbox announced September's Games with Gold. Prison Architect, Livelock, Lego Star Wars 3 and SEGA Vintage Collection: Monster World. I don't know about the other three but am excited for Prison Architect, it's a game I've been meaning to buy for ages now and just never did so, sweet! Though I'm not sure how well it plays with a controller, definitely seems more like a mouse game.

Played the NBA 2k19 prelude and it's definitely not as cheesy as last year. It looks like it still has all the rip off microtransactions of last year in the my career mode though. I did enjoy the on-court gameplay of both my career and 5v5. I really wanna move over to NBA Live 19 because it's much fairer with its progression, which is ironic because it's EA but that's what happens when you're the definitive number 2 and sell like 25k copies... seriously. The on-court gameplay is just not where it needs to be though, the player locked career mode is tolerable but the actual 5v5 is just so bad. An all the other modes are very weak on features too. Year after year, it's clear they are trying but it seems they don't have the manpower so each year ends up improving one or two things with touch-ups elsewhere, it's slow progress.

Also been playing MCC, working on Halo 1 right now and it's just brilliant. They did a fantastic job with the original remaster and it only got better with the 4k update. Bungie did a great job back in the day.

In other news, the next F1 race is this weekend. Monza. It's a very fast track. I'm not sure how the racing is but I'm excited to see what happens. Spider-Man PS4 is coming next week, at this point I think I'm gonna pass but if you have a PS4 you should definitely consider checking it out. I'm interested to see how it reviews and what players think post-launch. One thing I'll note is DLC has already been announced so if that's something that bothers you, might want to wait for a complete edition (if it happens). Otherwise, it's a three-part DLC priced at $24.99 or $9.99 each. First part will be out October, second and third will follow in November and December.

I've played quite a bit of NBA Live 19 now, thanks to EA Access 10 hour trial. Ultimately I found for me it's just not where it needs to be. So as much as I hate it, gonna go with 2k... because I need my basketball fix especially since the season is still almost 2 months away x.x

F1 race was awesome. One of the better races all season.
The feel-good story got bashed at the end though.

Didn't do much on RuneScape this weekend despite it being DXP... mostly because nofunmode is not allowed to participate at all. RIP.

Spider-Man PS4 review embargo ended today. Lots of review pouring in and it's got pretty solid ratings. It seems to be universally agreed that it's a great game, just not a masterpiece. A must play for Spidey fans and probably the best spider-man game to date. All in all, it sounds great and something they can build off of... who knows, maybe the DLC will give it that extra little boost too. I just wish it was on all platforms.

In terms of superhero games, eyes now shift to Rocksteady who's been rumored to be working on a Superman game and if they aren't maybe they are working on another hero or even a new Batman. No one really knows and they've been pretty quiet for a while, they are definitely working on something though. Square Enix is also working on multiple Marvel games, they signed a deal with Marvel a few years ago now and announced at least one game in development... unfortunately they've basically said nothing else since, hence why I'm not even sure how many they originally announced. Seriously Square, it's been a while now... x.x

In game releases, this Friday we have Spider-Man and NBA Live 18. Tuesday is NBA 2k19 and next Friday is Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Heavy rumors we will be getting a Nintendo Direct soon as well. The Red Dead Redemption 2 hype train should be spinning up soon, so we should start to get a lot more video and information at some point this month. Xenoblade 2 Torna expansion this month as well! Good times ahead.

Edit - Due to an Earthquake hitting Japan, the Nintendo Direct is delayed until further notice. Tragic, hopefully, everything goes well with the recovery.

Nintendo Direct tomorrow at 6pm Eastern. Topics are future Switch and 3DS games. Though we have to presume they'll also talk about Nintendo Switch Online that should be launching in just a few weeks. Watch it here:

Civ 6 and Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition announced for Nintendo Switch. It's a safe bet these were supposed to be in the Direct. Civ 6 leaked via its website, which accidentally went online and has now been shut down. The launch date was listed as Nov. 16th, 2018. We should see the "official" announcement during the Direct.

FF15 Pocket Edition doesn't have a date yet as far as I can tell but did just release on Xbox One and PS4, so it's possible it could be the same day as the Direct. It's priced at $30 on other platforms and is discounted to $17.99 for the first week... so keep an eye out when the Switch version releases for possibly the same discount.

Spider-Man is epic! It's not perfect, it has some annoying aspects and it's a lot harder than I expected... which plays into my biggest gripe that Spider-Man is supposed to be pretty strong but he's really not in this game. Simple street crime can quickly become tedious since they can take you out pretty easily and the fights drag on. Upgrades do eventually help but it's kinda silly, I don't mind mission difficulty but the random crime you can do over and over shouldn't be such a slog imo. I'd like more small crime with a few guys, rather than seemingly every crime being committed by 15 man teams. It becomes a chore quickly.

Otherwise, though the story is fun and well done. Gameplay is fantastic. Webbing around the city is really fun. It has a TON of collectibles and they aren't super annoying, the majority of things don't need a guide to find. The side-missions have been fun, nice breaks from combat so far. Is a bit of puzzling too. They did a great job.

In other news, no word yet on the rescheduled Nintendo Direct. I'd assume a new date will come early this week. An a reminder, NBA 2k19 releases on Tuesday and Shadow of the Tomb Raider on Friday. Xenoblade 2 Torna Expansion also releases on Friday for Season Pass owners, physical release is the 21st. FIFA 19 and Dragon Ball FighterZ Switch follow on the 28th.

Rocksteady is hiring for a "highly anticipated AAA" game, which is a kinda strange way to put it because they haven't said what they are making yet. Technically it's not anticipated at all. They said they are done with Batman otherwise that would be the obvious choice. So maybe the Superman rumors are true? WB owns a large stake of Rocksteady so it's a pretty safe bet they are working on another hero game from the DC universe. Hopefully, we'll get some news soon!

Finished the main story of Spider-Man. Very happy with this game, the story and gameplay throughout was really good and the ending was well done too. Still have a lot of side stuff to do if I wish and I might be able to 100% it since none of it is super hard. Hopefully, the DLC is good, it'll take a while to come out but more stuff would be great! Especially more suits, they got a nice selection already but the more the better!

Also played a bit of NBA 2k19 that came out today. I like the gameplay more than 2k17 and 2k18. The UI and stuff is a lot more polished too. I'm probably not gonna jump into mycareer for a while so dunno about that but from what I played of the prelude they've improved the story at least. Am noticing some bugs overall through. Kinda disappointed with the lack of attention to some players, some are missing face scans or aren't reflecting their updated skill set... 2k seems to play favorites, less popular teams usually lack the most attention to detail. Overall it seems to be a solid game but the usual flaws are still here and microtransaction haven't gone anywhere.
