Not been a good week for me technology wise. Youtube Background Play on my phone just suddenly broke. Still broken after 3 days now. It seems to work on VPN and Cell networks but not my wifi. I haven't changed any settings, no app updates etc. Youtube Support thus far has no idea but it's supposedly being promoted to specialist. I'm leaning towards this is an ISP issue but I asked them and they said nothing is wrong and nothing is blocked... I can't push that further until Youtube gets back to me. Hopefully won't become a Youtube blames ISP, ISP blames Youtube. I use the feature a lot so it really sucks.

Then my phone decided I don't need email notifications anymore... it's somewhat improved with some changes but still very spotty. As with the first issue I have absolutely 0 idea what caused it. Didn't change anything, no app updates etc. I'm cursed with strange technology issues, so I'm kinda used to this but it just sucks it's hit two features I use a lot.

I've done everything I can on both, now it's on IT... a place I never like to be in.

Xbox reaffirmed today that mouse and keyboard support is coming soon. It should hit insider next month. They are also partnering with Razer for a new mouse/keyboard accessory for Xbox. Basically all existing mouse and keyboards will also work. Warframe will be the first game supported. They also announced choosing to support it will be completely up to developers so no worry about your favorite game being ruined by people using a mouse vs controller... supporting developers will plan around it.

So why are they doing this? Phil Spencer himself said it's to bring more games to Xbox, some games just don't work well with a controller but he'd still like to see them on the platform, this is a way to do that. I bet this means the new Age of Empires will be coming to Xbox after all. Probably go well with Black Desert too.

They did it, they finally did it! PlayStation has given in and is now allowing cross-play in Fortnite! However it was also said, this will only be available for select third-party titles. I wanna believe this is just legal talk but it could also mean it won't be something any game can choose to do. We'll have to see but at least for now it's real, it's here and hopefully, this is the first step to a cross-play future.

Remedy is teasing a big announcement for tomorrow. They are the creators of Max Payne, Quantum Break and Alan Wake. They are currently working on Crossfire 2 and Control. They seem to be pointing people to the Instagram for Control so it'd seem logical it's about that... but I'm really not sure how that could be a big announcement. Who knows right?

Forza Horizon 4 drops tonight for ultimate edition owners. Drops Oct. 2nd for everyone else. Reviews have been amazing, currently sitting at 92 on opencritic! Reviews, of course, aren't everything but they are still an indicator of quality and it looks like Playground has knocked it out of the park again.

I've played the demo a bit and really enjoyed the driving and racing feel. The graphics are absolutely stunning, especially for an open-world title. Tests on my GTX 1050 Ti suggest it's pretty optimized on PC as well, getting a 60fps average in the benchmark on high setting at 1080p. I'll be getting it via game pass on the 2nd, definitely can't wait to play it!

Didn't find much interesting news today. Instead, is an F1 race this weekend. Qualifying is on Saturday, Race is on Sunday. Both in the morning US time. These next few races are critical for the championship. Hopefully, will be a great race.

Well, the race wasn't a final nail but it definitely didn't help matters either. The championship could be wrapping up soon. The race itself was pretty solid though, except at the front. Unfortunately. Next race is this weekend, Suzuka. Chance of rain too which could make it very interesting.

Forza Horizon 4 is launching tonight! Sadly no pre-load with Game Pass so can't play at midnight but tomorrow should be great!

Forza Horizon 4 is fantastic! Everything I hoped it would be, very well done all the way around. I really like the seamless online play, others are on the map with you at all times and the way it's done they can't ruin your experience. It's also extremely easy to jump into multiplayer races, of which a lot of them are co-op races so it's human vs AI. The matchmaking is a little broken at the moment though, it's easy to time out finding players... which I mean it's launch day, that should be impossible. Looking forward to seeing where the game goes and what the two planned expansions bring down the road.

Two from the Nintendo rumor mill today:

1st! Animal Crossing Switch is rumored for an early 2019 launch. I think this is possible. It's been 6 years since New Leaf and while I'm sure they haven't been working on the next game that entire time, they've definitely not just ignored it either. I also have a feeling they were making a game for Wii U... before the system went up in flames, so they probably had some stuff build already.

Pokemon will anchor Fall/Winter 2019 for Nintendo and another announced but not dated Nintendo title could also make it for that Fall/Winter time (Metroid, Bayonetta 4 etc). AC makes sense early in the year as a compliment to New Super Marios Bros Deluxe, Yoshi and Fire Emblem first half of 2018.

Ultimately? Who knows. I certainly hope it's true and I do think it's possible.

2nd! The Wall Street Journal said Nintendo is planning a Switch revision for 2019. This is very very possible. Nintendo has done this repeatedly so it makes complete sense. This would not be a Switch 2 but a revision on the original, like the DS Lite to the DS etc. Things cited in the article were "brighter, thinner and more energy efficient". My guess is it will maintain the same price point, the current Switch model will then be phased out. I also don't think it will be any more powerful than the current model.

Switch hype has slowed (tho sales are still strong) so it a good time. I bet it'd also have a nice bundle with Pokemon Fall/Winter 2019. This all fits Nintendo's history perfectly. I think there is a high chance this rumor happens. I think the bigger question is when in 2019? Do they follow the Switch's release date (early 2019) or do they wait for Fall/Winter with Pokemon?

RuneScape mobile beta is here on Android. It's rough still but having a lot of fun with it. They got a lot of work ahead of them but I think it'll pay off, it's gonna make a great mobile game.

Unfortunately the news for the rest of the game wasn't so great. Pretty slim on actual announcements but supposedly they have "great things" for 2019. I'm not sure I believe them and honestly even if they did announce individual stuff... I'm still not sure I'd believe them. Guess we'll see.

Last bit, Microsoft is rumored to be in the final stages of purchasing Obsidian. They've made some fantastic RPGs like Fallout New Vegas and Knights of the Old Republic 2. They know how to tell a story. I think it'd be a great pick up and for Obsidian, they've struggled off and on to survive on their own. I think Microsoft's money an stability with Obsidian's talent should result in some great games.

Xbox October Update starts rolling out today. Not many huge features, one headliner being the new Avatars and the other being the Alexa skill, allowing you to start up and control functions of the Xbox by voice using Alexa devices. Neat but not really groundbreaking stuff, I mean the Xbox could do that at launch (rip Kinect) and honestly I've never really understood the point of the avatars... plus I don't like the new art direction. Dolby Vision is in too but most people don't have TVs that support that. I'm just hoping for some performance improvements, the Xbox UI continues to be the slowest piece of junk ever created.
