Skyrim turned 7 today. Amazing it's been that long already and even more amazing that the next game is still at least 2 years off. I still play Skyrim every now and then, an it holds up very well. Really nothing like it still in terms of first-person open world RPGs. I'm really looking forward to what they do next with more modern hardware, Skyrim was originally a 360, PS3 era game. The jump Red Dead Redemption 2 made, makes me very excited, especially because TES6 could very well skip PS4/Xbox One and jump to even better hardware.

Bethesda is also working on Starfield which we might get next year. We don't know much but it sounds like it'll be a sci-fi open world RPG. I'm very excited to see what they can do with this. We need a good new sci-fi RPG with Mass Effect shelved.

Pokemon Let's Go reviews are trickling in, it's currently sitting at 82 on opencritic and reviews are pretty much all positive. It's honestly doing better than I thought it would but we'll have to see what gamers think in a few weeks, once all the hype and people overly trying to justify their purchase die down. I still can't get over no pro controller support so it's still a hard pass for me. I'll wait for the mainline game next year.

Haven't seen any reviews on Civ 6 Switch yet. I still think it's too much at $60, especially since it doesn't include the expansion which may or may not come to Switch down the road. However, I'm still really curious how it'll play and the performance. I can't remember if a full Civ game has ever been on consoles, I wanna say it happened once a long time ago but it's definitely been a while if ever. I'm really surprised it's not coming to other consoles too. Hopefully, it's a good port.

Last, Nintendo has unleashed a flurry of Smash ad spots and trailers. One last push to the Dec. 11th release. The game is looking amazing and it's now less than a month away! Exciting times. Now if we could just get some more info on Animal Crossing Switch. :)

RuneScape's double XP weekend starts on Friday. Of course, nofunmode can't participate at all so it's of no use to me but it's always nice to see tons of people online. Maybe someday I'll give up nofunmode and participate.

Black friday is almost here, Xbox just kicked off its deals. The other consoles won't be far behind. Retailers are starting to ramp up deals too. It's looking like it'll be a solid black friday for gamers even if just shopping online. The console deals themselves aren't bad either, $100 each Xbox model. PS4 at $199 with spiderman. Switch stays at normal price but will include Mario Kart 8. Not bad at all, though surprised no official PS4 Pro deal.

PlayStation has announced they are completely skipping E3 next year. I think this puts to bed the rumors of PS5 in 2019. Rumor has it we'll get the big reveal at PSX next year though and possibly with a March 2020 release if everything goes to plan. Otherwise, Holiday 2020 is the backup. It all makes a lot of sense.

The other question is what will Xbox do. With X releasing last year, they don't need to be in a hurry. They've also maintained they want to remain the most powerful console on the market so, I can't imagine they'd want to release and then get shown up within a year. I'd bet they will just follow Sony in 2020.

However, I do think we could still be getting a new console next year. I think a Nintendo Switch revision is very likely and apparently, it'd be good timing for them too.

Upgraded to a 4k monitor. Its been pretty nice, especially on games that get it right. 4k media is really nice too, unfortunately, that's a bit inconsistent too. Windows also doesn't handle it all that well. Basically, it's kinda rough in spots... probably more spots than it should be at this point but that should change in time.

Xbox One X wise, it works well. Games look really nice, some better than others but it's all very sharp and clear. It's a great way to play!

Warframe released on Switch today, it's F2P and 13GB. It also requires an internet connection at all times. Early impressions from people are that it's a good port! It's nice to see big F2P titles making their way to Switch.

Pistons have won 6 out of 8, it's been a great rebound stretch after the losing streak a few weeks ago. They got two more very beatable opponents which will hopefully result in a 4 game win streak heading into a game vs one of the best teams in the league. Overall been a good season so far and excited to see where it goes.

Rumor has it Zelda lead Eiji Aonuma has teased a Skyward Sword remake for Switch. Supposedly this happened at a Zelda Concert during Nintendo Live 2018. Game Informer also said recently when discussing Zelda's future:

I'm not sure if a Skyward remake would qualify or they meant a completely new game but either way, it'd be great to have a new game "sooner than we think". BOTW was amazing.

Grid Autosport is coming to Switch next year! It's an older game at this point but it's great to see a more realistic racing game finally make it to Switch. It doesn't come without a drawback though, Switch lacks analog triggers which is crucial for throttle and braking control, it really adds to the game. However, thankfully Grid Autosport isn't all realism, it's got a good selection of assists and combined with the more forgiving physics it still should be a really fun game. As long as they don't try to put it out at $60 I'm definitely looking forward to it!

Xenoblade 2 turned 1 today! I got a ton of hours out of this game and am looking forward to going back to it at some point. The DLC pass was one of the best value passes I've seen, with a really nice expansion to cap it all off. Definitely looking forward to whatever Monolith Soft is doing next.

Stardew Switch multiplayer update has been submitted to Nintendo. I'm not sure where its at on other platforms but glad to see it advancing beyond just PC now. ConcernedApe, the sole developer of Stardew also announced he is leaving his partnership with Chucklefish and going to self-publish the game starting next month. Chucklefish will apparently remain the publisher for the mobile and Switch versions. While it doesn't mean much for us gamers, it's a great accomplishment for him and also a pretty big deal. Nice to see a small indie dev still thriving in today's market. He definitely deserves it too, Stardew is crazy good, especially for a one-man team.

Just 4 days left to Smash Bros Ultimate. Hype!

Microsoft is considering buying even more game studios in 2019. They already added via purchase or creation 8 studios in 2018. It's kinda surprising they'd want even more but also kinda not. They can always use more original content for Xbox but I think this will also play into Game Pass and their upcoming streaming service. Netflix is the gold standard here, licensing content is great, it works well when it works but in recent years partners have become less interested in cooperation and suddenly Netflix is facing a content problem, solution... make your own so no one can take it away! Microsoft probably sees the same thing with Game Pass, you gotta have your own stuff.

Kingdom of Amalur has hit Xbox backwards compatibility. For years now this seemed like it'd never happen because it was owned by the state of Rhode Island but a few months back THQ Nordic picked it up and here we are.

Kingdom Hearts 3 has started pre-load on Xbox One. Why is this news? Well, Kingdom Hearts 3 has had a very long dev cycle. Much speculation, especially considering the Xbox One version and even though it went gold recently... it was still hard to believe but yes, it's happening, finally! Release date - Jan. 29th, 2019.
