Game Awards are on tonight, I really don't wanna watch it... especially because Xenoblade 2 got completely snubbed on nominations but they are gonna have new game announcements and last year Nintendo even revealed Zelda's DLC so now I gotta watch it. Hopefully will be a good show.

Game Awards definitely delivered. Political non-sense aside, some good games were announced. The two that really stand out to me is The Outer Worlds and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.

We knew Obsidian was working on something and had some ideas already, so it wasn't a major surprise but to see it's a first-person open-world RPG, that was really great to see. We really need more of these games and I can not wait. It's coming 2019 and since the deal was made long before the Microsoft acquisition, it'll be releasing on PC, Xbox and PS4. My only concern here is Take-Two is the publisher... thankfully it's the indie arm but still, they have been absolutely horrible monetizing games. I'm definitely hoping at some point Microsoft makes a deal for the rights, not to make it exclusive but just to make sure Take-Two doesn't screw this up.



Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, on the other hand, was completely out of nowhere. An even bigger, it's somehow a Switch exclusive! Crazy and possibly a big win for Nintendo, especially since Switch will likely miss out on Square Enix Marvel games. Super excited about this one, just hope it's good.

 

A few days ago we learned Microsoft is moving Edge to a Chromium base. This officially marks the white flag of Microsoft's browser engine that started over 20 years ago. It's kinda sad, we are now down to three mainstream browsers engines and Google holds a significant lead over everyone else. Google has already been accused of abusing that power too. When they redesigned YouTube in 2017 they included an outdated API that only Chrome supports, I'm not sure how the other browsers have handled it since but to this day it's still slower in Edge. Google will not fix it, forcing the browsers to follow them rather than the standard.

Definitely concerning. Ultimately though for Edge itself, it definitely seems necessary. Edge usage was very very low and issues like Youtube mentioned above didn't help any. I'm hoping by taking Chrome's base, they can mold a non-Google Chromium browser that has the resources to challenge Chrome. Maybe reducing Google's hold on the internet. Or maybe it will just go nowhere, who knows.

End of the day, I recommend everyone go try Vivaldi.

We got some news on The Outer Worlds. Obsidian has confirmed the game will not have any microtransactions! DLC is possible but they haven't decided yet if they will do any. They said companions won't blindly follow you and if they disagree strongly enough they can even decide to leave. Important characters can be killed. The game will be 100% first person, no third person camera option.

This game is sounding better and better. Very excited!

Forza Horizon 4's first expansion, Fortune Island is launching tomorrow. I'm not sure if it's a midnight launch or another time tomorrow but it will happen at some point! They also announced new events and items for the holidays. As well as revealing some new Car Pass cars, some of which are very nice, like the new Corvette. They are calling this the biggest expansion yet and considering the size of previous ones, we should be in for a treat!

In other new content news. Today Stardew Valley Switch got its multiplayer update! It's kinda a shame it's not cross-play but ConcernedApe, the lone developer, did say it may be possible in the future. So far multiplayer has only launched on PC and Switch. PS4 and Xbox are coming. Not sure about Mobile.

Blizzard is doing some layoffs, mostly in it's Heroes of the Storm team which recently had all its eSports canceled and the game basically put into maintenance mode. It's sad, especially right before Christmas. I thought Heroes was pretty fun but it definitely never caught on like Blizzard hoped.

I didn't expect any new news but it's still kinda sad to have not heard anything more on Animal Crossing Switch. Hard to believe it's been months now since the announcement, super hyped for next year! Aside from Animal Crossing, we are getting a bunch of other great games too like The Outer Worlds, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Kingdom Hearts 3, maybe Star Field... a bunch of other games that are escaping me right now. Anyways, a big year! Looking forward to it.

Pistons got a solid win tonight, they had to fight all night and managed to close it out in the end. They need a lot more games like that to get back to where they were. Very up and down season but least tonight was a fun game.
