Battlefront 2 EA/Origin Access trial started today, played a little bit of the campaign... you get the first 3 levels overall and have liked what I seen so far. I don't think it'll be worth buying the game for just that but it seems it may actually be a decent story. Need for Speed Payback and Sims 4 trials hit as well, will be checking them out in the next couple days.

Ok so Battlefront 2 seems pretty solid, it looks really nice and plays well but definitely concerned about the lootboxes. Feel like the prices may be too grindy to push buying them. The 3 levels of the campaign I played were fun, kinda mindless but fun. Wouldn't buy the game for just that though unless a big Star Wars fan. I think overall it's gonna be a good online shooter, great game for Star Wars fans and a improvement on the first.

Need for Speed Payback is pretty bad imo. I didn't even make it through the entire trial. The game feels really cheap to me, story wasn't interesting at all, seen a lot of graphical glitches and overall didn't think the game looked all that great. The whole time I was playing it I felt like I'd rather play Forza Horizon 3... even with the police, which aren't open world chases so even that isn't really an advantage. Game feels really flat, doesn't know what it wants to be. It's not serious enough to beat a Horizon 3 and not silly enough to be a fun open world game like say Burnout Paradise... kinda in this middle ground that just feels bad all around imo. Proceed with caution on this one.

Sims 4 on Xbox One. So I didn't play it much because honestly it's really hard to control with a gamepad. It doesn't have the console features of the older console games so it's basically like playing the PC version with the gamepad... which is not a easy experience at all. I may give it some more time when I have the patience but it's problematic to say the least. That said, in the time I did play the game did seem to run ok and everything looked pretty good. Mostly just a control issue.

The graphics on Battlefront 2 are so good. Turn off the weird screen effects and the game looks even better. It's crazy realistic.

I think playing Battlefront 2 with 4k textures has ruined my Switch. Went to play Splatoon 2 and my gosh I couldn't believe how soft and muddy the textures looked. Almost thought something was wrong with it. Mind you it's a great looking game in it's own right but it's just 4k textures are so insanely sharp it brings out Splatoon 2's rough edges from Switch's hardware limitations. That said, I still played for a while lol... Battlefront 2 may look amazing but Splatoon 2 has gameplay I vastly prefer.

Looks like DOOM on Switch turned out pretty good. Does have some framerate issues which seem to be the biggest problem an maybe something that can be improved. Sounds like overall it's pretty solid and importantly 100% complete. Next up is Skyrim and LA Noire on Nov. 17th.

Turns out Need for Speed Payback is a lootbox disaster, one bigger review site even went so far as saying they completely ruin the game. Scary. People have done lots of calculations on lootbox prices for Battlefront 2 in early access and the results haven't been good for that game either. It seem EA might be pushing this too far, it'll be interesting to see how it turns out... will people reject it or will most people not care.

It sucks this is a thing in full $60 games.

Finally finished up Final Fantasy 15 and I'm pretty happy with it. The story could have been stronger and same with the story telling but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I was led to believe. The game overall is pretty great, kinda different than anything else in how it does things. For the most part I didn't run into any pain points either, just a fun game from start to finish... tho this is with all the patches, which I believe one of them fixed a really frustrating level.

The game has also got a steady flow of DLC, in fact it still has at least one more coming. Pretty impressive. It's all been pretty solid DLC too. Lots of patches and free additions have happened as well, Square Enix really put a lot into it. Soon it will even get a full mutliplayer mode.

Disappointingly the game doesn't look all that great on Xbox One and PS4. So right now you'd need a Xbox One X or PS4 Pro to really enjoy the visuals. It's also getting a PC release soon but it will also require pretty decent specs. It's definitely playable on Xbox One and PS4 though, just the reductions they made really hurt the look and immersion.

Would recommend for those that have platforms to play it, especially now that it's cheaper and been patched up well.

GameStop's new rental service was very short lived. It was in a soft launch and set to go national next week but GameStop has suddenly had a change of heart and put it on indefinite hold. Reports are they didn't bother to set up the computer systems properly to handle doing everything involved with doing rentals, leaving store employees and managers with giant headaches. Kinda a huge oversight if true eh? Anyways, it's kinda too bad, it was a decent idea and actually offered some real value... which is strange for a GameStop program. Maybe they will revisit it down the road.
