Most are just normal people who grind the game out

That name reminds of the hundreds of botters in guild wars 1 lol

  3. I still think it depends on the game and how the objective of reaching max level goes. If getting to a max level is complementary to an objective, like completing the game's story (such as in AQ3D), then there would be a lot more people that'll play the game normally to reach max level. But sometimes levels are treated like post-content (such as in the case with AQWorlds), so you'll see more hackers or cheaters using macros.

It all depends on variables...if you played any mmo , you know who the gold farmers(bots) and the real OG’s.. the community recognizes its own .

  5. Not always easy to tell who's cheating or not. Some people try to make the person speak, but some people choose not to speak if that's their choice. Usually you'll see specific movement patterns for people who do cheat, like maybe they attack a monster every 30 seconds, or maybe they have the same walk pattern for hours, or something else.

I think that most people at max level, at least in most games, are totally legit. It just takes time and if you really like a game you are going to play a lot at a time and for a long time. There are a few hackers in some games but I personally try to avoid games that allow hackers to get away with that type of stuff.

  7. I think it really depends on the game, because leveling up scales differently depending on what game you play. In some games, it's easy to reach max level by playing every part of the main story, but in some games, you really do have to grind for the experience (and it's often an insane pool of experience you need). Not a lot of developers ban cheaters (not because it's hard to detect irregularities, but because there is sometimes that 1% chance of uncertainty even with statistical evidence that someone cheated), but the way to tell that someone is cheating would be to collect statistics (e.g. creating scatter plots or data representations such as playtime vs. amount of experience earned during that playtime and look for irregularities). And depending on the game, generally games with a larger pool of experience have statistical results that are more anomalous.

But just because you don't see hackers (or more correctly, cheaters) doesn't necessarily mean there aren't any. Usually private room instances are an open door for cheaters.
