My favorite hero is Captain America. I've been a fan of the comic character for a long time - I love the inspirational heroes. He's patriotic, but even as a non-American I can respect his ideals and what he stands for. How can you not love a guy who will get right up in Thanos' face, knowing that he's going to die?

In the game, he's a blast. I love leaping through the air and crashing down in the middle of a group of enemies, then whipping my shield out and watching it ping through a crowd. I love dashing around yelling CHARGING STAR because I'm a dork like that. He's got a great selection of costumes from the ages (though you'd never catch me dead in his Nomad outfit). And sometimes it's just nice to play a character who isn't constantly mouthing off to the other heroes (except for Punisher).

Squirrel Girl is #1 in overall fun, cuteness and effectiveness.

Reasonably priced at 400 splinters/900g with great costume choices, two of which even alter your squirrel friends appearances. What's not to love about either aviator squirrels or lil reindeer guys? Probably my favorite voice acting along with rather amusing lines, not to mention all the nut facts you could want.

As far as gameplay, if you are a fan of the Skellimancer builds of Diablo 2, she is the hero for you. You can also do a decent melee build, slashing dudes in the face and kicking them in the jewels, or even ranged build shooting acorns and throwing squirrels at jerks, but summoning hordes of squirrels is where she really shines. Great damage, good distractions to keep you safe, great self healing whenever you friends bite faces. You even get your own Iron Man to help blast your foes with the right equipment, and your trusty sidekick Tippy Toe keep you company.

Her animations are all well done, from jet packing hulkbuster squirrels flying around, to raining giant acorns smashing bad dudes, there is always a lot going on. Not to mention your always present horde of 40+ squirrel friends chasing things around and eating faces. Squirrel Girl is my favorite hero so far, and really has a decent build for any play style.

Great leveling experience the entire way helps a lot too. The basic you start with, Squirrel!, shoots bouncing squirrels all over the place that ricochet off bad guys and do a good job of clearing entire rooms by themselves. Once you get hulkbusters and squirrel saboteurs, you can start to really lay down the pain on bosses too. Once you get to 60, you can even go into cosmics without much troubles.

If your post is still up, do NOT make a second one. You only try again if your post is deleted for being short etc.

Also, no more second codes. Officially closing that now. Keys should be for those who do not have one yet.

At the moment I've been playing a ton of Hawkeye and have been enjoying his high are of effect and single target damage. He also has great crowd control with freeze arrow and enough defensive abilities to not fall apart easily. After getting large amounts of critical rating on gear his damage is some of the best out of all the heroes. Combining nerve gas arrow and claymore arrow allows him to turn entire rooms into deathtraps. He even has a melee build, although whether this is actually viable is debatable.
His biggest weakness is his almost complete lack of any natural spirit regeneration, without gear you have serious downtime in boss fights due to a lack of spirit. Also his only mobility is tied to a spirit consuming dash, making getting around sometimes frustrating when combined with his lack of spirit. The ability set captures the feel of the character as well, with a large variety of trick arrows recognizable from other media.

When people talk about "ARPGs" or whatever other term is in vogue for them they usually mean "Diablo clone." It's turned me off of the genre pretty strongly as someone for whom Diablo was never really a big draw.

I tried Marvel Heroes 2015 on a whim anyway, and I'm glad I did. The mainstays of the genre are all in place, sure -- take a character of someone else's design and control how they level up, spec out, gear up, and smash face. But Marvel does enough right to keep it from feeling like another stale Diablo clone and it owes a lot to the gigantic cast of characters, which provide a huge variety of play experiences that ensure there's probably something for everyone. Find knee-deep-in-the-baddies hack-n-slash action boring? Try out Human Torch and lay waste to armies while cracking wise. Hate being a glass cannon? Suit up Benjamin Grimm and enjoy being nigh invulnerable. Or roll with one of the many hybrid melee/ranged heroes with their own unique angles, or pet commander characters, stealth fighters, single-target boss assassins, and so on. And the ability to try out new heroes with a Random Hero Box purchased with in-game currency means you don't have to drop a dime to experience that kind of variety.

The story mode is pretty skippable after you've gone through it once and becomes more a thing you do for your favorites and skip for the rest, and having heroes limited to the ones you purchase or unbox can put you in a predicament if you want a character to jam on when you shelf your favorite hero to avoid outleveling a friend. But on the whole, Marvel offers enough variety that most will find plenty to like.

    BEST HERO:
My favorite hero is Human Torch, but nobody beats Taskmaster for a safe bet. At only 200 splinters, he barely dents the bank and he brings absolutely viable ranged, melee, and mixed combat builds to satisfy anyone who dares slip on the skull mask.

Especially cool is Tasky's stance system that allows him to pick *two stances at once* among several available to mix and match passive buffs along with triggered buffs that complement your preferred fighting style. If you're some lightning-fingered micro-fiend, go crazy and mix and match them mid-combat, but less experienced players needn't be intimidated -- it's perfectly viable to pick two stances that work well with your build and stick to them.

Taskmaster will brawl like Cap if you wanna brawl, bust guns like Pun when the stakes are higher. shred bosses at melee like Daredevil or at range like Hawkeye, and add some classic Spidey panache on top of it all. You may end up liking another hero more but there's no safer bet for your cash, your Gs, or your hard-earned Eternity Splinters than the Taskmaster.

Ok, a longer version of my previous thought. Silver Surfer has always been a favorite of mine. I think this is largely due to the fact that he was a Jack Kirby creation, and rather than go the easy route and make him just a dude with a flying surfboard, he created an elaborate cosmic back story which led to the creation of Galactus -- thereby crafting some of the best Fantastic Four stories for their day. I particularly like the direction Ron Marz took him in the nineties, once he started getting his own solo books.

Because of this, I was glad to see him get introduced to the game. That provided my final incentive to check it out for the first time.

I've never had an ARPG draw me in quite like Marvel Heroes, which I guess is due partially to the constant stream of new playable characters, new content, and new modes, and partially due to the amount of work the developers have put into turning this into a fun, fairly casual ARPG.

I put a lot of time into Diablo 3, as well, but after awhile I realized I hadn't been having any fun for awhile. After 170 hours of Marvel Heroes, I'm still having a blast leveling up new characters, grinding for gear on my Human Torch, or even prestiging Human Torch up to 60 a second time.

Human Torch is my favorite character, so far, because he's got a fairly satisfying moveset, with several effective AoE attacks on top of some other great attacks. Wolverine, the first character I paid money for, was recently turned into a very fun character, as part of the process where the developers continually revisit older characters to make them more fun.

As far as F2P goes, it's a great F2P game because no substantive content is locked behind a paywall. Yet I've still given them quite a bit of money so far because I like to support a great game and a great developer. I'll probably be stuck on this one for quite some time.

I've played a ton of ARPGs through the years. Marvel Heroes is definitely at the top of my personal list. No other ARPG has held my attention for nearly as long.
In other ARPGs once you replay through the story you don't really have a ton of options for continuing to play. Sure you can replay the story or grind for better gear, but that's boring. In Marvel Heroes you have a ton of different things you can do. In addition to continuing to grind for gear and play through the story in a harder difficulty you can also play a completely different character. Last I checked there were over 20 characters. The free to play aspect of this game is one of the best, there are only a few things that you can't earn through gameplay. Costumes are drops and you can unlock heroes with a currency that drops rather frequently. My favorite character is Thor, I love his unique blend of melee and ranged combat. Overall Marvel Heroes is one of the best F2P arpgs on the market.

I posted a review. Marvel Heroes : Online Games Review Directory

My favorite character is sadly no in yet: X-23. I am however really glad to see them making her into her own character rather than just a costume for Wolverine.

Aside from her, Loki is just plain fun. First of all, there's the teleporting, which makes me want to never use a non-teleporting character again. Then there's his very different trees that reflect his background. His first tree takes much from his Frost Giant heritage, allowing him to use a multitude of ice powers. His second tree involves his sorcery, which have always formed the basics of his attacks. Finally, his last tree allows him to create illusions. As being a God known much for mischief and trickery, this skills suits him greatly. Having a group of 6 Loki's running around laying waste to everything just makes you feel so powerful!

Marvel Heroes is an amazing game! My favorite character is Squirrel Girl. I love her silly attitude combined with throwing squirrels and acorns at bad guys.
The game has grown by leaps and bounds since release, with tons of new content added, such as the Omega alternate advancement system and the new raid.
If you're going to give it a try, I suggest grabbing Luke Cage as your starter character for awesome melee fun, or Human Torch for ranged AOE.
