I think APB offers enough progression, customization and freedom to be considered an RPG. APB is vary sandboxy which is perfect for role playing, one example was a team of four player pretending to be the four ninja turtles... they even had a custom van lol. If that's not role playing which is the original "RPG" I don't know what is.
Well it's not like I wrote that you are completely wrong, I'm just saying that it doesn't fit into more modern roles today market has presented to us, example: Healer, Tank, Dps or Mage/Cleric, Warrior/Assassin
That's the problem with the MMO industry right now, everyone (well mainly publishers) seems to think in order to be an MMORPG you need sword/shield/magic or at least Healer, Tank, DPS. This problem has lead to quite a few failed games and thousands of people being let go over the years. It's pretty much the same with non-MMOs, people want something different. The rise of Shooter RPGs is evidence of that. RPG elements are being tied more and more into Shooters, I don't see why the more deep or open ones can't be classified as MMORPGs when they offer more RPG than some "actual" MMORPGs.
It's true, but the times changed a lot and the standard term Role Playing Game is almost in all cases relaying to regular roles in MMO games a.k.a. Healer, Tank, DPS. APB really is an RPG and it's played online, but I never saw any1 comparing it to Guild Wars 2, WoW, Tera and other MMO games since the whole gameplay and experience is completely different
Guild wars 2 vs WoW be nice , But just as well Say Tera Vs Guild wasr 2 or even Raider Z vs Guild wars 2! First be Guildwars 2 2 nd not sure
