Runescape is one of those games from what I have seen or just any MMORPG.

That would be absolutely pointless. If AE sees that the IP address on the account is vastly different (example: someone from Indonesia who already has an account buying an account from someone from the United States who probably have other accounts), then that would raise a lot of suspicion and would most likely result in suspension of that account, possibly even all accounts associated with the IP. Wouldn't be worth any risk, especially from the buyer's point of view.

 

That would still raise some red flags, because there would still be suspicion of the buyer having their own game account that has always been associated with their IP address and the seller's account having a different IP address which would have the buyer's IP address instead (though that doesn't always prove anything). But of course, if you change the e-mail and password after buying an account, that would be even more suspicious and would probably land you in big trouble, and it would probably be worse if the person selling an account is selling multiple accounts to people around the world. And in fact, the game company may start asking questions to prove that the account is yours such as proof of any purchase history if your account has purchased anything or they may ask you some other things that only the real owner would know. Besides, there's no point in buying accounts, because you're not going to attain the same enjoyment of the game just from buying an account, and you'll probably be inundated by your actions. So just because AE gives you the ability to manage your account (like the ability to change your e-mail address) doesn't mean you should start doing crazy things.

 

It's risky regardless, AE can just track your IP and see who is the original owner of the account.

 

That's a bold statement to make. 90% of AQW players are selling their old accounts? Not very likely thing to be the case.

 

Statistics seem fabricated. I doubt 90% of players are selling accounts; otherwise, Artix Entertainment itself would be in hot water for allowing stuff like that to happen at such a large scale. Also, likely the person selling accounts would have already been reported by other players since they've probably tried selling their account to other people; so even if you agree to a deal to buy an account, chances are that the seller's account will get banned sooner or later. And if Artix Entertainment finds your account being sold on other websites, they might disable that account (and/or possibly keep a watchlist).

 

That doesn't prove that it was sold account though. Not everyone plays that much and not every goes for max level or end game goals. They could have just had a long break and decided to start playing again.

 

They are old rares sure, but that alone doesn't mean that that the player you saw was playing on a sold account.

 

I believe the shop will be perma at least for the people who registered their email at the time. I am not quite sure if they will remove it for everyone else. I kind of hope that they do just for the free rares. c:
