The game probably has telemetry to collect other things, too. Like who knows what other data gets recorded; maybe the game detects packet spamming to see if someone's possibly cheating or keeps a log on player coordinates or something. A lot of games have anti-cheat systems in some form. Obviously a chat log wouldn't be enough to punish a player if they're cheating, so there would have to be other things to go by. And I'm definitely not saying chat log is the only source of evidence, but I am saying that making assumptions is bad. Assumption, in other words, isn't actual evidence, and it should never be.
