Electronic Arts and the makers of Bell Helicopter, have settled a lawsuit concerning the use of real-world aircraft in Battlefield 3, for which EA did not have permission. The publisher had asked a judge to rule it had a right to the depictions because they were part of a creative work protected by the First Amendment.

Terms of the settlement were not disclosed in the latest filing on the lawsuit, but the case was dismissed with prejudice, which means it can't be brought again. The action was brought in January 2012 after negotiations between EA and Textron (Bell's parent company) broke down. EA reasoned that a film about the U.S. military doesn't have to pay royalities to Textron for using its aircraft, so why must a video game? The question appeared to probe the new boundaries of video games as protected works of free expression, a designation explicitly made by the Supreme Court in mid-2011.

EA has made the First Amendment defense in another, more pressing case, the one former college quarterback Ryan Hart brought against the company for what he alleges is the unauthorized and uncompensated use of his likeness in EA Sports' NCAA Football series. EA originally prevailed in 2011 on that claim, but a federal appeals court in May overturned that decision and sent the case back to district court. Last month, the defense was rejected by a federal appeals court in a separate matter brought by another college quarterback, Samuel Keller.

Well I've just updated it and I fully intend to try it for a bit before going to bed. The irony? The game failed to install twice, first because there wasn't enough room on the partition the game's installed on, so I freed some space up, just so it fails cause of not enough room on partition where windows is on. So I freed some space up there too, and in the end, I actually have more free space on my hard drive than I had prior to this update somehow, and that's without including the freeing space up! No idea how

Do I get any points for managing this?

 

I actually checked firefall out due to the fact it became one of the favorites to win this showdown, and I have to say, close, but no cigar.
It's a good game, yes, but compared with BF3, it's simply outmatched where it most matters for a shooter game - at the shooting. BF3's gameplay is superior to that of firefall, and it definitely looks better as well. Also I pretty much hear that the development of firefall is taking ages, and in my book, that's a very bad thing.

 

I never was exactly a fan of the Halo series, though I respected it and liked it from a distance. Still, despite all Halo games, 4 included being quite good, TF2 seems to be a step above that, it's very fun to play and that means it's definitely doing something great
